SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,234 AT THE AICP-END

423 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

When the Soviet Union imploded, we thought our job was done.  Little did we know, communism was growing HERE…
Los Angeles, CA 90064, 09-08-2019 Sunday: When the Soviet Union commenced imploding between 1989 and 1991, people my age felt that we were seeing the death of communism, of the most repressive political and economic system known to humanity, that with the fall of the Berlin Wall, with the freeing of Eastern Europe and the breakaway of numerous Soviet republics into free nation states, that we were witnessing the beginning of the end.
Yes, there were holdover communist regimes but they were falling on hard times without the support of the now-defunct Soviet Union.  Cuba and North Korea were struggling to survive and to our discredit, instead of working long and hard to engineer their collapse, we left them to wither on the vine.
Vietnam was another of these holdover states but we have a different sort of relationship with them, somewhat similar to what we have with two of our former World War II enemies, Japan and Germany.  Although Vietnam poses no threat to its neighbors or to us or to anyone else in the world, they have a system of communism intermixed with free market capitalism and the country seems to be working well.
The People’s Republic of China, however, was also one of the holdover states.  Once again to our discredit, we misread them, seeing in them what we wanted to see.  We thought with their entry into the World Trade Organization, that their repressive form of government would liberalize and that with more inclusion in the doings of the world, they would open their doors and their people would eventually become freer instead of more repressed.  Unfortunately, that did not materialize.
The Chinese pose the biggest threat to world security the modern world has ever seen.  They have economic and military goals laid out in which, they and they alone will be the lone global superpower.  American presidents have been rather blasé about this and said, “Ho hum,” never believing that China could catch up and surpass us, yet that was precisely what they were doing until President Donald J. Trump came along and began the trade war.
The Chinese are not happy about what Trump is doing and I am sure they are working extremely hard to make sure that a malleable Democrat will win the White House, someone such as Joe Biden, a China fan, or a dolt such as Beto O’Rourke whom both Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin will turn into a bathhouse butt boy.
In the meantime, just as the Soviets worked against the United States from within during the Cold War, so do the Chinese.  They work arm-and-arm with the Democrats, as a ‘silent partner,’ funneling money and support to various candidates and campaigns, doing their best to buy access in the same way they were donating vast sums to various Clinton ‘charities’ with the hoped-for outcome that when Hillary became president, the door to the Oval Office would be open wide to them, 24/7/365.
With Trump in the White House, the Chinese are unclear as to what to do.  They prod their ‘buddies,’ North Korea and Iran to ‘act up’ and cause us problems but it would seem that the former is somewhat unsure as what to do seeing as how Kim Jong-Un has a ‘relationship’ with President Trump whereas the latter has always been a problem and will be a problem until we nuke the mullahs in Tehran at some point.
The biggest problem we have here in the United States is the fact that the Democrats- always to the left of center but now, falling over the side and into the abyss- are rapidly becoming communist and not making any efforts to cover it up.  Some of them claim to be Democratic-Socialists which means they are ‘socialists’ which means they are COMMUNISTS.
Look at losers such as Baby Evita- AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Bernie Sanders, Julian Castro, Beto O’Rourke, Bill Di Blasio, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and far too many others- these people are so far left of center that half-a-century ago like Eugene V. Debs, we would have been rounding them up, charging them with being traitors, and sending them to federal prison.
When the Soviet Union imploded, we slapped one another on the back and said the fight was over.  Now, thanks to not booting out every Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist professor, we have a couple of generations of indoctrinated socialists-communists with another one on the way.
These people are not going to accept the fact that we here in the United States are a freedom-loving people.  No, they are drumming up all manner of lies, propaganda, falsehoods, and the past and skewing it their way so they can destroy every institution and every facet of our history so they can remake it in their image and declare victory.
Yesterday, I talked about how communists-socialists-fascists subvert society.  They take over the health care system, from cradle to grave.  They confiscate guns.  They repeal one right after another and they subvert the education system just as they subvert the armed forces, the police, and the rest of government, from bottom to top.
We cannot permit this to occur.  We must stop this.  This is the battle of our time, not climate change, not racism, not slavery, not this, that, or the other, but the fight against communism.  We must support President Trump in his battle to pushback on the Chinese.  We must urge him to support the people of Hong Kong.  Freedom, folks, or slavery.  That is the choice.
I will see you next year when we are fighting for the White House.  Tomorrow: El Chilote.  What a guy.  See you all next time.  God bless.

Like the rest of my colleagues here at the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, I turned my likeness over to up-and-coming Bakersfield, California, street artist, Simone and this among other images is what I got.  Kudos, Simone, Kudos for making me look, uh, so dignified.  Ah well,  I spent most of my life working in food service in a variety of states and places.  Among my stops was one in Washington State where I met Stinkbug in the WSCA.  We have been friends ever since and have been working long and hard to create an enjoyable reading experience for our fans, provided Google Blogger will allow the public to see us.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Sunday, December 16, 2012 Blog Post:

Mountain released their next album, “Flowers of Evil,” on November 08, 1971.  The first side of this effort was a studio side with some amazing tunes, including the title track, as well as “Crossroader,” a knock-off perhaps of Cream’s “Crossroads,” but a powerful tune indeed, well worth the price of admission alone.  The second side of the album featured the band live in concert at the famed Fillmore East in New York City on June 27, 1971.  This band was so talented that it blew the mind to listen to all of the various movements in the music what with a powerful rhythm section with keyboards tucked in around powerful and yet dramatic guitar parts.  The band featured Leslie West (guitars/vocals), Felix Pappalardi (bass/keyboards/guitars/vocals/ and production), Corky Laing (drums and percussion), and Steve Knight (keyboards).  We hope you will see this album out and consider adding to your ever-growing collection as we believe it to be among the absolute best rock albums of the time.
Posted @ the Friday, August 22, 2014 Blog Post A:

Bad Company released their next album, “What You See is What You Get: The Best of Bad Company Live,” which came out on November 16, 1993, a great live effort featuring the band doing all the hits while on a tour in 1992.  The lineup features Simon Kirke (drums/percussion/vocals), Brian Howe (vocals/saxophones),   Mick Ralphs and Dave Colwell (guitars/backing vocals/keyboards) and Rick Wills (bass).  We hope you will seek this album out at your favorite site for music and consider adding it to your collection- we know you will enjoy it, too so please, let us know what YOU think.  God bless.
