SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,238 AT THE AICP-END

419 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

The only good Taliban is a dead Taliban…
Shafter, CA 93263, 09-12-2019 Thursday:  While I realize members of my party leap on anything the current president does or does not do, I think we should all breathe a sigh of relief that President Donald J. Trump requested the resignation of National Security Advisor John Bolton, aka the Moustache.
Everyone knows that Mr. Bolton is an extreme hawk, someone who believes in an aggressive foreign policy as well as military intervention around the world.  While President Trump is trying to work out a slow-mo agreement with the North Koreans, Mr. Bolton is out there saying we should use the ‘Libyan model’ to remove the leadership of the North Koreans which means we should either murder them ourselves or set someone else to do the dirty work for us as we once did in South Vietnam.  This is not right.
Look, the North Koreans, like the Iranians, like the Russians, like the Chinese, and a whole host of other aggressive nations around the world who seek to contest us on every front, are scum and we must have a clear endgame in sight.  What we cannot do is to build up military presence around the world, especially in Africa and South America when there is so much we need to do here on the home front.
We know that Mr. Bolton, like former secretary of defense, General “Mad Dog” Mattis or former White House chief of staff, General John Kelly, all thought they knew more than President Trump and actively worked at counteracting the promises then-candidate Trump made about pulling out of fighting endless wars abroad and putting the money to good use at home.
We have been in Afghanistan far too long.  A ‘country’ such as Afghanistan is little more than a money and blood pit for our national treasure and for our troops.  Yes, we can remain there for another 82 years, thus making it a century, but in the end, we will accomplish the same thing, only that we will spend more money and lose more lives.  At what point do we say, ‘we kicked butt, left them bloody, and that it’s now time to come home?’  It was time to come home 16 years ago.
Since the end of the war in Korea, we have fought guerilla wars and insurgencies with traditional military formations.  Initially, we can clear the field and decimate the enemy but then when they switch tactics, we become bogged down in one quagmire after another.  It makes no sense unless we use tactics similar to what the British employed in Malaysia in the aftermath of World War II when they successfully beat a communist insurgency.
As far as I know, the Brits are the ONLY ones to have won such a fight.  Even so, they still had to hand over Malaya to its people when Malaya became Malaysia when it won its independence in 1957.  At some point, foreign bastions of the West all became independent nations with their own governments and their own ways, which is why the time has come for us to turn Afghanistan over to the Afghan people.
As far as seeking to make ‘a deal’ with the Taliban, what the heck is up with that?  I am going to use some ‘racist’ language here when I say, “the only good Taliban is a dead Taliban” so why the heck would President Trump or anyone else consider inviting their leaders to Camp David, especially when they continue murdering our and our allies’ people?
Whatever is going to happen in Afghanistan is going to happen, no matter how long we stay there.  The Afghan people in Kabul and the other large cities are either going to fight to keep the improvements that 18 years of Western interaction and aid has given them or they will fold, flee, and the authoritarian barbarians will seize control once again and life will revert back to the nightmarish way it was under the first Taliban regime.
Donald Trump promised to end endless foreign wars, regime change wars, and having troops garrisoning this country and that around the world when he was running for the presidency of the United States.  Remember how not long after he became president that we found out we had troops in Western Africa because some of them were killed in a firefight?  Hardly anyone knew we had soldiers there, much less that they were fighting and dying there.
The only thing we must do is to bring the people who aided us in fighting against the Islamists in Afghanistan over here to our country, we owe them that.  Other than that, we must strengthen the homeland which I believe this president is currently doing by fighting to build the border wall along our southern border and the rounding up and expedited deportation of the millions of illegal aliens lurking here in the shadows.
We need to build our military, continue the creation of the Space Force, continue returning to space, to the moon, and to Mars.  That is the only way we can defend our country from the numerous threats facing it abroad.  A strong defense will prevent others going on the offensive against us just as producing our own oil and continuing to be a net exporter will increase and sustain our independence.
Before we vacate Afghanistan, how about this: how about we hit all Taliban and al-Qaida-controlled areas with neutron bombs.  Let’s radiate the sons of bitches and leave ‘em gasping for decades to come.  Let’s kill as many of them as we can and then come home.
Let me know what YOU think-  déjame saber lo que piensas- hasta mañana amigos míos.

As have the rest of my colleagues, local Bakersfield street artist, Simone, created these portraits of me that you will see over successive days here at the blog.  I guess Simone did ‘okay’ in capturing my likeness; I guess it could have been worse.  I was a young cook back in the early 1960's when I commenced my culinary career.  I served underneath a Master Chef for many years before striking out on my own.  I went up the coast of the Western United States and Canada, working all the way, until I made it to Alaska.  From there, I moved to Hawaii for a couple of years (1994-1997) before I returned to Washington State and it was there that I met Stinkbug.

Mountain released their first ‘best of’ album, aptly titled, “The Best of Mountain,” on February 07, 1973.  The album contained a dozen of their best tunes and it went gold.  As this blog, the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, always says, ‘IF you have yet to get in on the ground floor with this heavy-duty rock band, this is the way in which, you can do it so do it now, seek it out, give it multiple listens and add it to your collection.

Posted @ the Sunday, August 24, 2014 Blog Post A:

Two-thirds of Led Zeppelin reunited to do an MTV special show.  Robert Plant and Jimmy Page did a performance on the rock video channel (which was not a sicko site at the time as it now is) and the resulting album, “No Quarter,” came out on October 14, 1994.  Joining the legendary duo were Charlie Jones (bass /percussion), Michael Lee (drums and percussion), Pearl Thompson (guitars/banjo), as well as numerous other musicians and ensembles to give the album a superb sound quality.  We can only ask one question: “WTF was John Paul Jones?”  Ah, well, we hope you will seek this one out as it is a welcome addition to the Zeppelin and its individual members’ solo catalogs.  We know you will enjoy it.
