SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,248 AT THE AICP-END

409 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Glad President Trump is eliminating California’s ability to regulate fuel economy…
Pasadena, CA 91101, 09-22-2019 Sunday: Ah, the final day of the week, my friends, very good.  I mentioned yesterday that I was going to share my thoughts on the “Green New Deal,” how the Democratic Party has embraced this imbecilic idea with both arms, smothered it with kisses, and put rings on its finger, all out of love for the power it will bestow upon their next president and their party, power that will keep everyone in their place.
I think we should protect the environment just as I believe in clean water, fresh air, and an end to pollution.  I live in Los Angeles, once a bastion of orange-greenish air but we have come a long, long ways in combatting pollution and it did not occur recently as Democrats in power would have you think.  No, in the seventies we began fighting back and by the eighties, things were looking especially good.
We have heard much talk about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal,” and in fact, Chefs Brian and Charles spent about two weeks combing it over to remove the head lice, so to speak, as they sought to make the exact wording known to everyone.  I read it, I appreciate their putting it up for the world to see, and as we then began debating the topic, I realized what everyone else did: it was a pile of steaming horse crap, three feet deep and as sticky as quicksand.
Our country is booming right now, the economy is on fire, everywhere employers are seeking employees to fill vacant spots.  We are doing everything we can to minimize unemployment from one end of the country to the other all the while employing more Americans and seeking additional employees wherever we can find them- legally.
One of the best things we are doing and that will have long-lasting benefits to come for the American people is the boom in oil production, refining, and exporting to other countries.  I know when I was a Democrat, our stock line was always ‘if we begin drilling our own oil, it will take us ten years before we see the fruits of our labors- at least!- to be able to do away with foreign sources of oil, like from OPEC nations.’
Well, President Trump took care of that bit of fiction in LESS than three years, my friends.  We are producing, we are refining, and we are exporting it abroad, and more and more Americans are involved in the manufacture, the refining, and the transporting and shipping of oil.  Coalmines are producing coal the likes of which, we have not seen in a long, long time, anthracite, bituminous, all top of the line coal that can be purified for clean energy use.
The Green New Deal would halt all of this progress.  They would slap back on all the regulations removed by President Trump just as they would halt the pipelines in production and stop ones already running so we ‘can save the world from climate change and extinction.’  Uh, okay.
I am one of those people who now believe there is NO way human beings can change the climate.  We can pollute, however, and that is something the United States and other Western-thinking nations have basically solved.  The major polluters of the world exist in Asia, in Latin America, the Middle East, and in Africa.  Why shouldn’t the Democrats seeking power want to start there first before crippling our country?
I am glad that President Trump is going to rollback the exemptions that California has enjoyed/forced upon its unwilling citizens that will make the environmental requirements for automobile manufacturers uniform across the fruited plain.  This will allow the building of newer, stronger, more-safety conscious vehicles instead of the little electrified golf carts rumbling about our streets that when hit by a pickup truck or a late model car prove to be devastating to their occupants.
Democrats will not surrender on this, however, and California is wailing.  They are wailing so loud that it bothers one’s ears to hear all the sobbing.  They want to keep the working classes and the poor folks dependent upon public transport and electric cars.
I think their desire for electric cars is this so please, pay attention: first, all gasoline-powered cars and trucks are going to vanish.  Second, all privately-owned cars will become obsolete as the cost of keeping them ‘environmentally friendly’ will increase just as conversions and fees and taxes will make it prohibitive to own them and so you and me will be forced to sell our vehicles without getting ANYTHING in return.  At least with Cash for Clunkers, we got some cash for the purchase of a ‘green’ car.
Third and most importantly, when you or I want a car to go somewhere, we will call for one to come.  A self-driving car will show up and will take us to our destination.  We will pay fees for mileage and upkeep and our credit card information will always be on file and the charges will commence like taxicabs once the car leaves the public lot for our destination.
If we wish to drive from one end of the state to the other or if we want to drive cross-country, when we reach the end of the battery charge, the next self-driving electric car will be there waiting for us- if we’re lucky.  We will take that one to the next stop on the way to our destination and when it begins to peter out, we will switch cars at the next lot and so on and so forth.
Not only will we no longer have the option of owning our own cars, the government will be able to keep tabs on where we go, when we go, and for how long we stay.  Automobile manufacturers will slowly vanish and all cars and trucks will be government-owned.  Welcome to the first stage of ever-increasing governmental control and loss of freedom, liberty, and the imposition, albeit slowly, of totalitarianism, all for our ‘own good.’
We must fight against any attempt by government to force the ‘Green New Deal’ upon us as over the course of time, each of the liberties the Founders gave us will disappear.  Thank God, I became a Republican.
See you next year, my friends, and thank you for your support.  Gott segne euch alle und halten den Glauben!

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

The Climax Blues Band released their next studio album on September 12, 1974, “Sense of Direction,” yet another workout of the blues rock music with which, the band continued carving its direction.  As always, the band delivered the goods musically and this album would be the last before they EXPLODED with the next album that would put them over the top and designate them as superstars, “Gold Plated.”  As always, the band has the same lineup as the preceding albums and one could hear the continued growth of each musician as they pounded out the American blues-rock hybrid that would make them famous.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Sunday, December 30, 2012 Blog Post:

Mountain released a blast from the past on November 15, 2004, “Official Live Mountain Bootleg Series #3- Live at Capitol Theater N.J. 30-December-1973.”  It featured the lineup that created, “Avalanche,” Leslie West (guitars/vocals), Felix Pappalardi (bass/keyboards/guitars/vocals), Corky Laing (drums and percussion), and David Perry (rhythm guitar).  Although the sound quality is somewhat sketchy at times, the rocking moments still permeate it and demonstrate what a great band this East Coast lineup was and why we are still glad that they continue performing.  We hope you will seek it out and consider adding it to your collection- you will love it.

Posted @ the Friday, August 29, 2014 Blog Post A:

Paul Rodgers (guitars/keyboards/lead vocals), released a studio/live album entitled, “Now and Live,” on June 10, 1997, which featured the legendary vocalist at his best- singing hard rock English blues.  This album is one everyone should own as it encapsulates his multi-decade career.  Joining him are guitarist Geoff WhitehornJim Copley (drums), and Jaz Lochrie (bass).  Here, you have the entire album, “Now,” plus another disc of live material recorded the previous year.  If you want to hear one of the most unique voices in the history of rock-and-roll, this is an album you definitely must own so please, seek it out now and give it a listen.
