SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,236 AT THE AICP-END

421 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

What is wrong with the Democratic Party?
Shafter, CA 93263, 09-10-2019 Tuesday: Congress is back in town and once again, members of my party in the House are working on impeaching President Donald J. Trump in a somewhat convoluted way.  They are working on a shadow impeachment by which, they can keep their base somewhat mollified yet at the same time NOT go through with it because it is going to devastate the party come November 2020 and they know it.
You know, amigos, I understand the fact that the Dems are upset, after all, President Trump beat the living snot out of them in November 2016.  At the time, I was as shocked as everyone else that the current #45 was able to beat Hillary Clinton.  I mean, many Democrats I know thought she was akin to the Teflon Don, that whatever guano from out of the barn was hurled at her, she would be able to weather the storm and come through to the other side.
Yet, that was not to be.  Donald Trump beat her and did so handily and I think if the two of them were to meet again, he would beat her even more resoundingly, to the point that she might consider committing hara-kiri.  It is what it is.
I think the wind went out of the Democratic Party’s sails when Bob Mueller and his more-than-two-year-investigation-into-all-things-Donald J. Trump went down in smoke.  We knew he was somewhat unsteady when he gave a quick speech prior to leaving the investigation post release of the Mueller report and again when he appeared before two House committees and seemed to be as senile as my great-grand-dad- mi bisabuelo- before he died.
It was clear that elected Democrats and their crazed base had placed all of their eggs into one basket, one with holes all throughout it, so when the eggs came tumbling out and broken yolk was all over the place, they had no mop, no squeegee, no dustpan with which to sweep the debris up and toss it out.  One by one on television each and every night, they appeared dejected, crazed, and many about ready to commit suicide.
Now, Jerrold Nadler and Adam Schiff, two committee chairmen in the House, are doing everything possible by which, they can launch an impeachment of President Trump, approximately 421 days out from an election.  I do not know about you but that seems awfully tight to me.  I think they are making a gigantic mistake that is going to doom the party just as they are by allowing all the nuts out there seeking the nomination as far too many of them are unelectable.
Even if I wasn’t planning to vote for Donald Trump in 2020, other than Joe Biden, Tulsi Gabbard, Steve Bullock, John Delaney, and Michael Bennett, I would vote for NONE of them.  I certainly would never vote for Kamala Harris, Liz Warren, Cory Booker (that guy creeps me out), Bernie Sanders, Beto O’Rourke, or any of the other nuts currently seeking the nomination.
What is even worse is that they won’t let in any of the saner ones other than Joe Biden who truly needs someone like a Tulsi Gabbard to do the mud-slinging back at the people seeking to propel Smoking Joe out of the race and into the dumpster of history.
What do YOU think of that?  I get it, former vice president Biden makes gaffes, a lot of them, just as he likes to put his hands on female supporters.  This is Joe, this is what he does, everyone knows that just as we know he might not have much time in the Oval Office if he somehow pulls off a feat just as stunning as Donald Trump pulled off in 2016.
I think as a Democrat, Joe deserves the opportunity to lead the party forward as if Joe goes down in the general election, it won’t be the destructive factor that would occur if some of the other frontrunners should win the nomination over him and are smoked like Jimmy Carter (1980), Walter Mondale (1984), or Michael Dukakis (1988).
As I said, as things now stand, I am voting for Donald Trump.  Say what you will about his tweets and his constant attacks on his enemies, he has much to say and more enemies than you or me or anyone else we know will ever have so he has a right to hit back and take each of them to task.
If you are tired of his tweets or what he says to the media, don’t watch it.  Go about your day listening to Talk Radio and watch the news sporadically.  However, we now have the NFL back as well as the MLB playoffs on the horizon so we have other things to do.  Therefore, we can turn off the nightly news, avoid MSNBC, CNN, and the Big Three network news programs and remain relatively calm, content, and collected.
In the end, NO one knows what is going to happen in November 2020.  However, I believe we have a damned good idea as to what will.  As long as the economy continues to improve, as long as more Americans continue finding better-paying jobs and greater opportunities, and if the president is able to corral the Red Chinese into a trade deal that they will agree to, I think there is no question as to him winning a second term.
You ask about the three Republican challengers?  What?  These people are losers, especially Mark Sanford.  That guy, that guy is a bum- nada más que un vagabundo .  Ego, that is what it is.
Amigos, we will continue tomorrow with more hot talk.  I hope you are here.  Adios.

As have the rest of my colleagues, local Bakersfield street artist, Simone, created these portraits of me that you will see over successive days here at the blog.  I guess Simone did ‘okay’ in capturing my likeness; I guess it could have been worse.  I was a young cook back in the early 1960's when I commenced my culinary career.  I served underneath a Master Chef for many years before striking out on my own.  I went up the coast of the Western United States and Canada, working all the way, until I made it to Alaska.  From there, I moved to Hawaii for a couple of years (1994-1997) before I returned to Washington State and it was there that I met Stinkbug.

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

Phil Collins released his next album, “Other Sides,” on May 31, 2019.  As it sounds, this is a ‘best of’ compilation featuring the B-sides of singles he released as a solo artist as well as some demos, all remastered for the modern listener to enjoy.  The remarkable thing about this remarkable musician is that he has his ‘band persona’ and his ‘solo performer persona,’ which allows him to mix all manner of genres, styles, and formats.  We hope you will seek this exceptional effort out by visiting the absolute best site for music in the world- your nearest record shop.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Tuesday, December 18, 2012 Blog Post:

One of the reasons East Coast powerhouse rock band, Mountain, broke up was key member, Felix Pappalardi had grown addicted to heroin, a drug that seems to figure throughout rock music culture as does cocaine.  While on the British swing of the “Flowers of Evil” tour, Leslie West and Corky Laing met and formulated a plan with Cream bassist/vocalist, Jack Bruce.  The result: WestBruce, and Laing.  Their first album, the stunning “Why Doncha,” came out on November 10, 1972.  This is a glorious debut for the short-lived band that would deliver but two more albums as once again, drugs hammered the three musicians just as they did Mountain.  We hope you will seek this album out and add it to your collection- you will be glad you did.

Posted @ the Saturday, August 23, 2014 Blog Post A:

Mott the Hoople released their next ‘best of’ compilation album entitled, “The Ballad of Mott the Hoople: A Retrospective on June 15, 1993.  This is an excellent compilation that provides the listener the crème de la crème of their breakout years through their end.   As we always say, if you have yet to get in on the ground floor of this seminal glam-rock British band, what is stopping you from doing it now?  Seek this one out by visiting whatever site you use for nothing but the absolute best in rock-and-roll music- you will enjoy it.
