SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,219 AT THE AICP-END

438 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

If it’s not going to be “Joe and Tulsi,” it’s going to be Donald J. Trump
Honolulu, HI 96790, 08-24-2019 Saturday:  As we all should know by now, I am up-and-down in my support of President Trump, because at times, he says and does things that beggar one’s mind while at other times, he is right on the money.  I am a Democrat as you all know, one who began on the far left fringes of the party until the last presidential administration began opening my eyes to the dangers we face, particularly the one in which, President Obama sought to restructure our country by allowing millions of illegals into the hinterlands along with Muslim ‘refugees’ who have no business coming anywhere near the United States, especially over Christians and Jews.
Back in 2016, I broke the news, the BIG NEWS, in which, I told the readership that I was going to vote for Donald J. Trump and told them WHY.  The why is extremely important, it is as important as the sun coming up every day in the east and then going down in the distant west.  There were two major reasons as to WHY I voted for the guy and here is what I said on August 11, 2016:
I voted for Barack Obama twice and took him at his word that he would usher in change and that that change would be for the better.  Almost eight years later, we see the nation in worse shape than anyone can remember and the younger generations have few if any memories of a prosperous time and when the world respected us.  Yes, they [the world] might have despised us and hoped for our doom but they respected or feared our capabilities whereas now, numerous nation-states are hopping onto the ‘destroy America’ bandwagon.  We face numerous threats and if we do not find a way to meet them, we could face a very dismal future.  This is why I hope Donald Trump wins the election.”  (La Tigre, 11-August-2016)
In 2016, I based my vote on two important reasons required by our country, both of which, MY guy failed to produce: fixing the economy and beating ISIS.  Well, President Trump has managed to accomplish both goals, the economy is booming- even here in Hawaii- and ISIS is on the run.  Both of those issues coupled with stopping the flow across our borders meant much to Lalo and me.  We are pragmatic, you see.
Now, we can talk stink over how the president acts and behaves.  Okay, I get it, the guy is akin to the bull in the china shop, the Mako shark in the goldfish bowl, he can rub many people the wrong way just as he rubs me and my hubby raw at times, hence why I say a “Joe-Tulsi 2020 ticket” is the best we Democrats can get as the others (did you see Liz Warren’s dance moves in Iowa?  Holy Jamoca ice cream!) are too far out there for even the most diehard liberals I know to vote for.
What is important to my family and me now is the continued growth of our economy, putting China in its place, scaling back on the never-ending wars, and fixing the immigration system.  If any of the Democrats- especially Joe and Tulsi- would step up and promise to do these things, then we can take behavior and actions into account but none of them will as they see each of these important needs as somehow BAD at best and RACIST at worst…what?
The other thing that is important to Lalo and me is the continued support of Israel.  Although I have never written about my feelings for the Jewish state, having never been there, I know and love Mo, he is like a second father to me and I respect his opinions on a subject near and dear to his heart, protecting our number one Middle Eastern ally from the threats facing it.
As though its external enemies are not enough, we now have freshmen congressional members who want to punish Israel and strip it of the foreign aid we give it, mostly in the form of military support, all because two of the freshmen lawmakers set in motion a scam and then feigned outrage when Israel did not permit the duo to enter “Palestine,” (of which, there is no such thing- sorry, Rashida) so they could stir up trouble.
I have never seen this level of dissension in my political party, especially from freshmen lawmakers like AOC, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib, who hate our country and want to cause it irreparable damage just as they do Israel.  They seek to do this because they are anti-Semites who hate not only the United States but the world’s only Jewish state; I am glad that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu banished Tlaib and Omar from ‘visiting’ his country.
Here is another comment I made in that older post that I think is appropriate:
I am not one of those people who view Islam as the ‘religion of peace’ because everything we have seen over the past 24-30 years or so speaks against holding that concept.  I fear that if we continue allowing in more and more ‘refugees’ from Islamist countries, we sow the seeds of our own demise and I hope it will stop—a la the reason WHY I believe Donald Trump is the one for the job despite what my friends and family say.”  (La Tigre, 11-August-2016)
As you can see, I am someone who goes back and forth on politics and where exactly my loyalties lie on any given day.  What I will say is this: as long as my party continues down the path that it is and as long as Joe and Tulsi fails to happen, I may well vote again for the current president.  Make America great again, keep America great again, and stop trying to stuff socialism down our throats.  Oh, consider getting the Squad members out of office in November 2020.  Then, and only then, will I reconsider my position.  Tanks.
Aloha.

Up-and-coming Bakersfield, California, street artist, Simone, created this cartoonish caricature of me so we can keep our identities on the down low due to increasing threats, Web intrusions and threats, and so we do not lose our professional businesses because of our politics here at the AICP-END Blogs.
That said, I began my career in the early 1970’s when I apprenticed to cook under one of the masters on the Big Island where I was born.  I moved to Oahu in the early 1980’s after having worked in both Kona and Hilo, HI, and have been there for most of my professional career.
Moreover, I have also worked on Maui for a few years (1995-1998) and have been on Kauai (2001-2003) before returning to Honolulu.  My goal is to prepare the next generation of chefs for the future and to help the underprivileged in their struggle to attain careers in the foodservice industry.

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

Tony Banks of Genesis fame released a ‘best of’ effort, appropriately titled “A Chord too Far,” on July 31, 2015.  This is a superb effort that contains some of his best compositions culled from each of his solo albums.  If you have yet to get in on the ground floor with this amazing artist, well this is a glorious way in which you can do it so please, seek it out wherever you shop for nothing but the best in modern rock and classical music.  It is a must-own album to be sure.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Saturday, December 01, 2012 Blog Post:

You can’t keep a good band down.  After going on hiatus for more than a decade, BLUE CHEER amped up and returned to the rock scene.  The band’s next album, “The Beast is Back,” came out on October 15, 1984, and found the band back in power trio form.  The lineup now included Dickie Peterson (bass/vocals), Paul Whaley (drums), and Tony Rainier (guitars/backing vocals).  The album found the band doing some updated versions of some old fan favorites as well as new ones, too, showing the new life re-instilled in the old warhorse.  This is a superb album, one we encourage everyone to seek out and add to their collection.
Posted @ the Thursday, August 14, 2014 Blog Post B:

Robert Plant took some time off from his preceding effort and then came back with a monster seller, “Now and Zen,” which he released on February 29, 1988.  He jettisoned his old band and returned with a new one and with a new sound more reminiscent of his earlier work with Led Zeppelin.  Joining him were Doug Boyle (guitars), Phil Johnstone (keyboards), Phil Scragg (bass), and Chris Blackwell (drums).  Also joining the artist on two of the songs- including two massive hits- “Heaven Knows” and “Tall Cool One,” was guitar maestro, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin.  This album was a multi-platinum effort that set the vocalist on the road as a solo artist for good.  We hope you will seek this album out as at the time, it was awesome.
