“Wouldn’t it be great if

SUMMER SESSION 2019
BLOG POST #3,202 AT THE

455 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020
China is not our friend, hence
why we must beat them at their own game…
Weedpatch, CA, 08-07-2019
Wednesday: President Trump finds himself embroiled in a
trade war with a world power that is not our friend, one that conspires against
us on a multitude of fronts. The People’s
Republic of China is not our ‘partner’ and has not been since President Bill
Clinton facilitated their entry into the World Trade Organization. That was the mistake of mistakes as it has
allowed the Chinese entry into a community of world nations engaged in trade as
an equal partner and not as a junior or probationary one. From that moment onward, the Chinese have
worked to undermine us and will continue working to destabilize us and
demoralize the American people.
The world is indeed a
three-dimensional chessboard, one in which, the United States and the PRC face
off against one another. We try to keep
things on the up-and-up, trying to urge and/or cajole the Chinese into behaving
as most civilized nations typically do, respecting laws and trademarks and intellectual
property and not behaving as a piratical regime intent on beating us using
whatever means at their disposal and then some.
Prior to President Trump,
no American president since Harry S. Truman ever challenged the Red
Dragon. President Truman allowed his
commander-in-chief in Korea in the 1950s, General Douglas MacArthur, to
challenge the communists and they almost drove us off the peninsula and into
the ocean when he was driving the North Koreans to the Chinese border.
Yet, someone had to
confront China because if left to its own devices, the People’s Republic is on
a trajectory to eclipse the United States on virtually every front, whether in
manufacturing domestic goods to artificial intelligence to military supremacy
to the new space race. If President
Trump is not successful in forcing the Chinese to play by the rules set by the global
community of nations, China will become the dominant world power by the middle
of this century and everyone else will be left eating dust.
As a despotic regime,
China can direct its centralized economy and absorb and dish out the hits. Each time they devalue the rate of their
currency, they make it more difficult for us to compete in their country while
making it easier for them to dump their exports here.
It also enables them to
reduce their trade deficits so all this talk about China ‘decoupling from the
United States’ is intended as a threat to American exporters. Continue making it difficult for us to
compete in your country and we will absorb the hits and stop doing business
with YOU.
We know President Trump
desires American firms manufacturing products overseas sold back here in the
United States returning to our shores and doing their production here. That would make us stronger again, the only
problem is that there would be an extended period of higher costs and less
availability of products unless U.S. corporations can get their industries
up-and-running as quickly as possible.
In so doing, this would
reemploy millions of Americans in fabricating goods once again, as it once was
a long, long time ago. We should create
our own products here buying only necessary raw materials abroad from nations
friendly to us and willing to work with us, not ones seeking to supplant us and
replace us.
We also must understand
that problems with Russia, with Iran, with North Korea, and with other despotic
regimes around the globe all begin in or receive support from China. Every time trade tensions increase between
Washington, D.C., and Beijing, North Korea begins firing off missiles and
conducting weapons tests while Iran seizes ships in the Persian Gulf or in the
Straits of Hormuz.
No matter how disjointed
these various actions might seem, they all have a common focus, one that
emanates in China and spreads beyond.
China continues doing its utmost best to destabilize Southeast
Asia through building artificial islands in the South China Sea (hope a massive
typhoon comes along and devastates these ersatz bases for weapons and hegemony)
with which it hopes to intimidate Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea,
and other regional nations in and around the area.
This is why we must thank
President Trump. We need him to remain
strong while forging NEW deals with Latin American, Asian, and even European
nations so we can trade back and forth with one another while trying to keep
China at arm’s length. Sure, it is
possible that an alliance such as this could trigger a global conflagration as
what happened in the 1920s and 1930s led the world to World War II but
something must be done.
I would like to see the
United States continue making its own products, ones we once did, then allowed global
corporations to lift from our shores and to transplant them abroad to places
inimical to us and our way of life. The
more Americans work and make higher wages, the more our strength as a nation
recovers, rebuilds, and re-blossoms on the world state, the sooner we can
neuter China and force them to play by the rules or to become a pariah, doomed
to trade with other hostile powers.
President Trump, I hope
you can reestablish America’s manufacturing abilities so we can get the hell
out of China. I hope you also continue
strengthening our dollar, perhaps by a return to the Gold Standard as well as petrodollars. We must lead the world in space, in the air,
on land, and in and under the sea as if we succumb to China’s inexorable
pressure, we will become a servile nation.
Wouldn’t it be great if
the Democrats would help him do this?

My colleagues and I no
longer share old photos of us, as the price of success means that lunatics and
nuts come looking for one. Therefore, we
hired local up-and-coming Bakersfield-Oildale, California street artist,
Simone, to create facsimiles of us so we can remain somewhat obscure. Ah, well,
I began my culinary career in 1969 bussing tables at age 12 and became a cook's
apprentice in 1973 at age 17. I have worked all over California, Hawaii, Washington State, and even a short time
in Arizona.

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:
Mike + the Mechanics released their first effort following the death of bandmate, Paul Carrack, on April 18, 2011: “The Road.” This is NOT a live album but a studio effort and it entails the loss of a good and dear friend and the price that rock-and-roll fame rips out of healthy people. Joining Mike Rutherford (guitars/basses), Tim Howar and Andrew Roachford (vocals/guitars/keyboards), Anthony Drennan (guitar), Luke Joby (keyboards), Gary Wallis (drums) along with a few other guests on board to deliver an overall amazing sound. We definitely hope you will seek this album out, give it a listen, and consider adding it to your collection- we do believe you are going to enjoy it.
SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:
Posted @ the Wednesday, November 14, 2012 Blog Post:
Love released their next album, which is a remake of “False Start,” on September 08, 2008. Joining the legendary leader of the Los Angeles-based psychedelic rock-and-blues band, Arthur Lee (lead vocals/guitars/percussion/harmonica) were Gary Rowles (lead guitar), Frank Fayad (bass/backing vocals), George Suranovich (drums), Nooney Rickett (rhythm guitar/vocals), and- wait for it- Jimi Hendrix on the opening track. This is an excellent album by a talented band with a troubled leader, revamped for modern listeners. From start to finish, the album rocks which is why we hope everyone will seek it out wherever you shop for nothing but the finest in rock-and-roll music- you will enjoy it.
Posted @ the Wednesday, August 06, 2014 Blog Post A:
Led Zeppelin released what would be their first post-Zep album, a collection of cuts and outtakes from their earlier albums that failed to make the cut for whatever reason. “Coda” came out on November 19, 1982, and it featured eight unheard-of tracks compiled through the band’s 12 year career. Although none of them are stunning tunes, it was cool because it had been two years since the band went to ground following the death of famed drummer, John Bonham. It will indeed serve as a ‘coda’ of sorts to one’s Led Zeppelin album collection, that is, until Jimmy Page and various recording engineers began combing the vaults of live shows. Great stuff, we know you will find it extremely interesting. Check it out.
