SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,205 AT THE AICP-END

452 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Democratic-Socialism and its offshoots brings nothing but pain to those trapped in its embrace…
Weedpatch, CA, 08-10-2019 Saturday:  Bakersfield and its environs are much like other towns and cities throughout California and more likely, the nation, as well.    We have rampant crime, numerous unsolved shootings and murders, rapes, break-ins, assaults, violent vagrants, panhandlers, pimps, and sexual deviates, all interacting around us which makes it difficult to want to go places at night without my Walther in my belt.
On far too many occasions, police find dead bodies bobbing in agricultural canals and viaducts with crows and ravens perched atop them, nibbling out eyes, snipping off ears, noses, you name it, there it goes.  They find the deceased in vandalized cars in parking lots, in the citrus and nut orchards surrounding the city, all dead from gunshot wounds, stabbings, violent beatings, and occasionally burnings.
This blanket of violence it has become a way of life and very few complain or go out of their way to find ways by which, they can halt or stymie the carnage for fear the violence will somehow come to them and theirs like a clown in a Stephen King novel.
Downtown Bakersfield died decades ago and then in the 1990s onward, it began experiencing miraculous rebirth as investors worked hard at rebuilding a frazzled downtown.
Thanks to public pride and investors, landscaping and lighting projects commenced, artists went to work putting up sculptures and painting murals, old buildings were given new life, and new ones went up at an startling pace.  It was great, it was good, and then along comes rampant, out-of-control liberalism and progressivism run amok in the Golden State and now everything slowly is returning to the tragic state it was in prior to all the good things occurring.
The change began ever-so-slowly as California moved through Governors Ronald Reagan and Pete Wilson and away from the ‘Red’ to the ‘Deep Blue and even Deeper Purple’ of Gray Davis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jerry Brown, and now, sadly, Gavin Newsom.
Each of these governors was more liberal than the one before them and gradually, things law enforcement worked hard at implementing- like stopping property crimes and transgressions of violence, burglaries, sexual deviancy, and rampant drug use- began to go unenforced.
Like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, and other liberal-run cities around the state, we are beginning to see the same problems blossoming here like noxious toadstools and foul-smelling weeds.  Yes, we have always had our share of vagrants just as we have had our share of homeless, people who suffer from mental illness and rampant drug use, many times opioids and evil things like fentanyl and other lethal narcotics that put far too many people in the ground now abound here as does methamphetamine.
For many years now, we have watched a genre of ultramodern movies that depict the future world to be one of torment and wretchedness.  “Blade Runner” set things in motion decades ago and then we have had movies such as “Escape from New York,” “Robocop,” and other similar dark glimpses of our shared futures because violence abounds and laws go unenforced.
We also have the “Hunger Games” flics, the “Divergent” series, “Looper,” “Interstellar,” and far too many others that all paint this dark picture of what future life is going to be, one in which, normalized drug abuse and deviancy and loads of other societal ills rule the day.  None of these films ever paints a happy picture of better times but one in which, everyone suffers other than those who rule us from above.
I remember decades ago a time when government actually cared about the people it oversaw and not just the winning of or the retention of power, raw power, with which, to continue making the lives of American citizens worse instead of seeking to better them.  Government for a long, long time now has given us scant notice and only perked up when someone unfavored to win DID win and now seeks to keep the campaign promises he made to us.
Friends, the future can be good but we must strive to attain it while striving to drive the ills afflicting modern life back into the fringes of society, back from whence they came, the progressive liberal loonies because if they win power, they will do their best to destroy us and if successful, drive us howling naked into the wilderness for 2-3 generations.
YOU all know what we need to do so let’s do it.  Let’s save the country and defend our president.  No one else other than us is willing to do it.  The only way to solve the deviance taking place in the streets is to stand up against it by voting for those like the president who seek to better things and fix the ills dogging society.
President Trump seeks to do this by improving our various lots in life and through supporting the police and enforcing the laws rather than electing enablers who promise to give everyone everything for free when what they promise to give us is the yoke with which to secure our necks and lead us into Soviet-or-People’s Republic of China-style bondage .
Thanks and God bless.

My colleagues and I no longer share old photos of us, as the price of success means that lunatics and nuts come looking for one.  Therefore, we hired local up-and-coming Bakersfield-Oildale, California street artist, Simone, to create facsimiles of us so we can remain somewhat obscure. Ah, well, I began my culinary career in 1969 bussing tables at age 12 and became a cook's apprentice in 1973 at age 17. I have worked all over California, Hawaii, Washington State, and even a short time in Arizona

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

Peter Gabriel released his next effort, “New Blood,” on October 10, 2011.  This album rather grew out of what he did on his preceding effort, “Scratch My Back,” in that he pulled numerous tunes off his previous efforts and re-recorded them with an orchestra so in effect, the material was brand-new.  This artist has always been highly talented and unique in whatever he does and here, he demonstrates that yet again, which is why we encourage everyone to seek this effort out and consider adding it to your collection as there are all manner of goodies included here you will find nowhere else.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Saturday, November 17, 2012 Blog Post:

Following the success of the Byrds, another Los Angeles-based rock band, Buffalo Springfield, formed with Stephen Stills and Neil Young on lead guitars and vocals with Richie Furay on rhythm guitar and vocals, Dewey Martin (drums), and Bruce Palmer (bass).  Their first album, the self-titled, “Buffalo Springfield,” came out in 1967 and featured a massive hit, “For What it’s Worth,” a tune a sign of the times dealing with anti-Vietnam war protesters clashing with the Los Angeles cops on Sunset Boulevard.  That song propelled them to the top of the charts as did their three guitar attack and this, their first album, is an excellent one, an album we urge everyone to own.
Posted @ the Thursday, August 07, 2014 Blog Post B:

Free released a ‘best of’ compilation on April 17, 1982, “Completely Free.”  This album featured 12 selections from all the band’s studio albums, including at least one of the post-break-up and reformation albums.  If you have yet to buy the music of this short-lived but highly influential British band, this is a fabulous way in which to do it so please, seek it out and consider adding it to your collection- you will be glad you did.  Great music by a phenomenal band.
