SUMMER SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,165 AT THE AICP-END

492 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Kamala Harris thinks she is atop the heap right now…I got news for her, next debate, Liz Warren is going to light you up!
Century City, CA, 07-01-2019 Monday:  Friends, it is good to be here once again.  I want to send my thanks to my friend and colleague, Stinkbug, who had such a powerful week this past week what with his biting commentaries on the circus that was TWO nights of crazed Democrats debating one another.  I am telling you I do not recall the Republicans being quite so bad back in 2016 (although the battle over hand-size comes pretty close and highly entertaining).  Knowing the Dems as well as I do (seeing as how I grew up as one), they could surpass that unforgettable event from 2016 as the months flow by in the effort to run down the list of candidates to three or four and then, the inevitable winner who I believe is going to be…wait for it…Elizabeth Warren.
The reason I believe this is because Kamala Harris thought she got the best of Joe Biden this past Thursday night when she lit him up over his work with two segregationist senators back in the day when there were loads of segregationists in House and Senate because that is how it was and what’s more, they were Democrats and NOT Republicans.
I am sure many millennials have no clue that all the racists and bigots were Democrats and NOT Republicans.  Sadly, the educational system no longer teaches them the truth unless they go to a two-year college and can learn from open-minded and fair professors or at a conservative four-year college.  In high school, it always seems like they leave the ‘Democrat’ part out of the lessons and imply or infer that the Party of Lincoln- the Republican Party- is actually the Party of Jefferson Davis and all the evil things that came with the Confederacy.
Anyhow, having watched BOTH nights of the first debate cycle, I must admit I am surprised that vice-president Joe Biden failed to respond forcefully to the slurs made against him by “California’s shame,” Senator Kamala Harris.
When she leapt onto Biden’s back and ripped him a new one for having worked with the segregationists and also gave her sob story about how she was ‘a little girl who benefitted from bussing,’ he should have immediately interrupted her and pointed out the fact that he left a law firm to become a public defender and that she, Kamala Harris, put more minorities into California state prisons as both the district attorney of Oakland and as the attorney-general of the Golden State.  Locked them up and many times threw away the key.
Now, had Smoking Joe been on fire that night the same way the other hacks were, he would have stunned the crowd to silence with his cutting comeback and Senator Harris would have been standing there with egg all over her face.  There is no way she can ever shake off the fact that she sent brown and black people to state prison than any other person standing on that stage who was a former prosecutor or attorney general.
Add to that the fact that she is a big proponent of the death penalty and you have someone whom many black and brown people consider highly ‘unfriendly’ towards them.  Busting people for pot crimes and then sending them to the joint with lengthy prison sentences is not something from which, one can easily backtrack and try to cover up, it simply does not work like that.
I think in the forthcoming debate Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is going to rip Senator Harris a new one in the same way that Harris went after Smoking Joe.  Warren fought for the poor and the unfortunate and that will put Kamala on the defensive, something that will cause her as much consternation as the attacks on Biden caused him.
Others on the stage who did not shine well included another of California’s great shames, Eric Swalwell, congressman.  That man…that man is shallower than a box of week-old doughnuts left out in the sun and covered with ants.  Yet, he managed to land blows atop Biden as well as the smarmy little Mayor Pete Buttigieg.  The fact that the one called “Opie” is beset in his own town of South Bend, Indiana, for behaving like a racist is something that Sheldon Cooper’s clone cannot overcome.
Adding to Buttigieg’s problem is that among his first acts of duty as mayor was the firing of black police chief Darryl Boykins, someone extremely popular in the community, over some trumped-up charges that he was recording phone calls of white police officers.
No one knows what lies on those tapes because they are still tied up in a legal battle between the ex-chief and the city.  Perhaps one day, we will know, but under Mayor Pete’s watch, the black percentage of police officers on the South Bend force has dropped from 10-to-5-percent, not a good statistic for the little mayor.
Add to this the fact that Mayor Pete is not exactly lighting up black crowds down in South Carolina which remain stubbornly loyal to vice-president Joe Biden, a man who at every opportunity brings up the ‘good old days’ when he and President Barack Obama were lighting up the country doing this and that and I sincerely believe that there is NO way that Biden will lose these voters, they have too long an association to let an untested politician with race problems of his own to come between them.
We are going to have an exciting week, I can assure you as someone living in the belly of the fetid beast and who knows what socialism looks, smells, and sounds like, I am going to hammer each of these phonies as the week proceeds.  Thanks for being with me over the course of the following seven days and look forward to having some fun.  That is what we do around here.
See you tomorrow, same time, same place.  Happy birthday to my good friend and colleague, Chef Vladimir.  YOU are SO LUCKY living up in Washington state at this time of the year.  God bless everyone and see you tomorrow.

This is a cartoonish rendition of me as I now am, old, tired, but at the top of the heap when it comes to classical Greek cuisine in the great Southland of California.  I began cooking in the 1960's in my native Greece before moving to Los Angeles, California, in the early 1970's. My family came here after World War II and I have had the pleasure of working both in my homeland as well as in the United States.  I apprenticed under an ACF Master Chef shortly after coming to L.A. and now here I am. I still am involved in professional food service as both an instructor and caretaker of my family’s business.

AAA.   2014: Japan updates its constitution so that its self-defense forces can assist in the defense of allied nations coming under attack by foreign enemies.  However, the change has nothing to do with sending military assets on foreign military adventurism.

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

Peter Gabriel released his next album of original music on April 15, 2002, “UP.”  This album would be it for original material for a long, long time so it is worth giving a listen to as it is a special offering.  Once again, he has a studio full of musicians accompanying him, which creates an interwoven sound that is a delight to the ears as well as for the mind.  The album is one that deals with the issues of life as well as its loss so it is highly and deeply personal.  We hope you will seek it out and consider adding it to your growing music collection- you will enjoy it.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Tuesday, October 09, 2012 Blog Post:

Santana released the group’s next ‘best of’ compilation on November 21, 2000.  This effort did extremely well back in the day because it had all of the band’s hits in one convenient place.  “The Best of Santana II” is a worthy effort to add to one’s growing album and CD collection because there is nothing better than hearing this amazing group’s classics.  This phenomenal artist has gifted the world with his utterly amazing talent, something people around the globe celebrate and love.  You will indeed enjoy it- we guarantee it.

Posted @ the Friday, July 18, 2014 Blog Post B:

Ian Hunter jumped ship from Mott the Hoople just as they were approaching the pinnacle of success to go solo.  It was a devastating blow to the group but both the band and its former vocalist would carry on in one form or another.  “Ian Hunter” came out on April 12, 1975 and featured a tune later made famous by Great White, “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.”  Joining the vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist were Mick Ronson (guitars/keyboards/bass), Dennis Elliott (drums/percussion), Geoff Appleby (bass/vocals), and Pete Amesen (keyboards).  It is sad that Hunter left his former band because both needed one another to achieve major success.  It is what it is, folks, seek this one out and give it a listen- you will enjoy it.
