Gov. Newsom would be wise to enable PG&E to recover from failing infrastructure and lawsuit damages rather than to diverting untold sums of money destined to provide FREE health care to migrants

THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY COMMENTARY-OPINION-SPORTS-FOOD SERVICE FOR MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2019 BY CHEF ROLAND CARL DAVIS, EDITOR

SPRING SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,151 AT THE AICP-END

506 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

Remember Governor Newsom, the people of California possess the power of RECALL, an awesome way to right political wrongdoing such as providing FREE health care to migrants while doing nothing to enable PG&E to provide an uninterrupted supply of power…
Arvin, CA, 06-17-2019 Monday: As any reader of our blog for any length of time knows, I am an unabashed liberal Democrat, one who fears climate change, one who despises Donald J. Trump, and one who feels we can finish a clean sweep of California by ousting the remaining Republican seats in both local and national government in the next 1-2 election cycles.  Sure, some places will continue to cling red but in time, we will control everything if but given sufficient time in which to share our message so all Americans will know the great things we seek to do for them.
I authored a post last December in which, I shared my other big fear, the ongoing crisis at the southern border.  Like it or not, our nation can only absorb so many people and despite what many of the Democrat candidates seeking the 2020 nomination say, we cannot be the safety valve for the excess population of the world, especially if they are going to give us little to nothing in return.
What I said back in December is that Nancy Pelosi must reach down deep into her gut and find a way by which, she can provide President Trump with the money for the wall.  After all, we can deal with him later, as I expect we will in 18 months.  That fraud is going to be chained to a ball, chipping away at boulders in Leavenworth Prison, that I know for a fact.  However, if we fail to cap the flood the crossing our southern border, all of us may be in trouble.
Recently, we have heard that our brash young governor, Gavin Newsom, wants to provide FREE health care to immigrants, paid for by we taxpayers.  Now, I think we can handle the people who reside in our state lacking coverage, but to become a magnet, a beacon to illegal aliens around the world to come here so we can care for them is insane, not only that, it’s irresponsible.
In California, we have a looming problem that is not going to go away anytime soon and that is the problem our main energy provider- Pacific Gas & Electric- suffers from- becoming little more than a third world power provider in a purported first world state
Everyone living within the boundaries of the Golden State understands that PG&E now can turn off the power at the drop of a hat due to aging infrastructure and massive lawsuits launched against the struggling company following the disastrous spate of wildfires that rampaged through forested and mountainous parts of the state such as what happened to the now-vanished town of Paradise.
Granted, not everything is the fault of PG&E, however, because increasing environmental restrictions have made it difficult for them to upgrade infrastructure in rural areas as well as to do the necessary clearings of forested areas and grasslands.  At some point, activities such as these must occur as otherwise, we are putting people and property at risk.
Every homeowner, renter, and business owner in the state received the same letter from PG&E in the past week, telling everyone that ‘due to aging infrastructure as well as losses in lawsuits from all the disasters the utility has found itself involved in, the summer is going to be extremely difficult.’  What they told us is that we face power outages that could last up to 48 hours and according to some industry watchers, for as long as seven days.  Seven days.  Third world power in a supposed first world state.
Now, I have no clue as to how Governor Newsom thinks he is going to keep the state BLUE.  Once the power goes, once shortages become the norm, once millions of dollars disappear via lost in spoiled foods, unusable medicines, heat stroke and other maladies in the state’s numerous senior population, once these things become commonplace, this state will flip from BLUE to RED in the next couple of elections and the liberal dream with it.
I would like to say to our freshman governor, “Gavin, if I may be so bold as to use your first name as though I know you, Gavin, if you decide providing free health care to every single migrant within the borders of the state (you know as well as I do that within 6-12 months, the age limit will encompass everyone) is more important than addressing the state’s power supply, you, sir, are a fool, a literal fool and a dangerous one at that.”
You see, first things first, Mr. Governor.  You must redirect whatever money you plan on spending to provide succor and support for people who should not be here in the first place to PG&E so they can manage their bankruptcy debts and somehow recover and begin an immediate updating of their power generating capabilities.
I think you want to care for your environmental backers and your non-citizen base instead of remembering who put you where you are- voters like me- as if you ignore us in favor of others, if we suffer 2-7 days frequent brown-and-blackouts, we will either recall you from office and replace you with someone more sensible or we will vote you out of office.
Governor Newsom, please remember who elected you and take care of us first.  Once you deal with that, if there is anything left over, you can provide humane care to non-citizens, people you seemingly value more than the rest of us.  Otherwise, you could emulate your former mentor, Gray Davis.  Remember- in California, people have the power of recall, a power we cherish above all others.

This is a facsimile of me as a young chef back in the 1960's when I was working as a sous chef at a fine dining restaurant, the Victor Hugo, over on the coast around Newport, California.  I began my career working as a pot washer at the age of 10, move to washing dishes in 1958, became a chef's apprentice in 1961 and have been a career professional ever since.  I am still involved in professional foodservice as a consultant for food and beverage professionals.  Famed Bakersfield street artist Simone created the cartoonish figure of me, which appears to be ‘me’ but I hope I look better than how he portrayed me.  You are the judge.

FEATURED ALBUM OF THE DAY:

Genesis released a prodigious box set on June 28, 1998, “Genesis Archive-1967-1975.”  This four-disc set is impressive, a collection that features all members of the band from inception to the end date.  The first two discs contains a complete performance from “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” while the band was on tour in support of that album.  Other discs also include other unreleased and lesser known cuts culled from BBC appearances that help flesh out the legend of this prominent, well-known English band.  We hope you will seek this impressive box set out at your favorite haunt for the best in rock music- you will enjoy it.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Tuesday, September 25, 2012 Blog Post:

Santana released the group’s next ‘best of’ compilation on June 10, 1991.  This effort did extremely well back in the day because it had all of the band’s early hits in one convenient place.  “The Best of Santana” is a worthy effort to add to one’s growing album and CD collection because there is nothing better than hearing this amazing group’s classics.  This phenomenal artist has gifted the world with his utterly amazing talent, something people around the globe celebrate and love.  You will indeed enjoy it- we guarantee it.

Posted @ the Friday, July 11, 2014 Blog Post B:

The next album by the British rock band, Mott the Hoople, “Wildlife,” came out on March 12, 1971.  The lineup was the same as the preceding effort, featuring Ian Hunter (lead vocals/keyboards/rhythm guitar), Mick Ralphs (lead guitar/backing and lead vocals), Overend Watts (bass/backing vocals), Verden Allen (organ/backing vocals), and Buffin (drums).  Seeing as how their previous two efforts were not massive successes, the band decided to produce their own music which enabled this album to succeed where the previous two did not.  It demonstrated that they were on their way to success, albeit somewhat longer than their fellow British rock bands of the Second Wave.  We hope you will seek this one out and add it to your growing album collection- we know you will enjoy it.
