THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY COMMENTARY-OPINION-SPORTS-FOOD SERVICE FOR FRIDAY, MAY 31, 2019 BY CHEF MURPH MACDOUGAL

SPRING SESSION 2019

BLOG POST #3,134 AT THE AICP-END

523 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2020

The Democrats have a timing problem of their own- impeach now and take a chance or wait until next year and risk failure?
San Luis Obispo, CA, 05-31-2019 Friday:  Well.  This past Wednesday, while drinking my coffee and eating my breakfast Danish in the chef’s office prior to hitting the floor and getting the day underway, I was watching the news and word came that Robert S. Mueller III- former special counsel and soon-to-be private citizen- was going to make some statements at the Justice Department in Washington, D.C.
President Trump was on his way home from Japan while the attorney-general of the United States- William “Bill” Barr- was up in Alaska, either on business or vacation, I am unclear as to what he was doing but no mind.  I thought it very strange that Mr. Mueller would be making a ‘statement’ on whatever with both the president and his immediate boss (and supposed friend) out of the way so immediately thought the worst.  I called my hubby Elizondo up from the bakery so he could watch the imminent ‘comments’ with me and gauge what his thoughts might be.
Breathlessly, he came into our office and asked me, “What’s up?  I was down there making the pies for the day- something wrong?”
I advised him as to what was up and he said to me, “It sounds like a coup,” with a laugh, “that maybe Mr. Mueller is going to tell us the ‘coup is underway, everyone go home and remain there until further notice arrives, the military, the national guard, and local law enforcement will be clearing the streets, securing television and radio stations, banks, schools, and martial law will be effective immediately.’”
He laughed again because he saw my wide-eyed gaping stare.  He was thinking that I really believed what he was saying, so he clarified his words to me: “Hon, I don’t think that this is going to be the case but you have to admit- like you have been writing about chem trails and government doing things that it never informs us of until years, sometimes decades later, that the timing of this is highly suspicious.”
Indeed it was suspicious.  With both the president and the attorney-general away from the capital, it was extremely odd that the man who heretofore until Wednesday, has NEVER spoken directly to the media on the investigation.
In fact, the only other time word came out of the special counsel’s office was when a press statement issued by the office disputed a crackpot story appearing in Buzzfeed about there being ‘sealed indictments pending against the president thanks to the flipping of disgraced lawyer, Michael Cohen.
Eli and I both watched the Mueller statement and were somewhat staggered.  It was as if he was reversing what he and Bob Barr had said in previous statements.  It was as if- while the cats were out of town- the principal rat in the plot to take President Trump down was having a field day, running amok, throwing more gasoline onto the dying Democratic Party bonfire, giving them NEW purpose so they can continue causing problems.
Our country is undergoing drastic change.  In a legal system that reveres ‘innocence until proven guilty,’ we are heading towards the Napoleonic Code, the one most of the rest of the world uses in which ‘one is guilty until proven innocent.’
Now, how the heck does one prove innocence if all signs point towards guilt?  Proving a negative to be true is among the most difficult legal procedures one can do.  The more the Democrats continue piling on one mound of fecal matter after another atop the president, the more difficult it is going to be for him to wash it all off and come out smelling like a rose.
Eli said that he was thinking it ‘was over’ whereas now, it seems to be beginning anew.’  I looked at him and he looked at me and it appears as though our country is undergoing radical change from which, it might never recover.  Frankly, it almost makes us wish that Trump was the dictatorial monster they claim him to be because he could then order the rounding up of all his enemies and begin disposing of them in a manner one would think the Democrats would love: the Stalinist method
So, more and more Democratic voices are crying aloud that it is time to ‘impeach the president.’  The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler, D-NY, sure seems as though he wants to take a lengthy trip down Impeachment Avenue and get this show on the road.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the mic later in the day out in San Francisco, CA, her home stomping grounds.  She does her best to make her insane persona sound as though she is the ‘voice of reason’ but it sure sounds to both my husband and me that she is giving free rein to the committee chairpersons in the House to move ahead with removing this president.
The question is, what is going to happen and when?  I would think that the Democrats have a big problem in timing of their own- if they impeach President Trump now and for some ungodly reason are able to get the U.S. Senate to convict and remove the 45th president done this year- they think they may be able to weather the storm.
However, if they do not set the ball rolling until sometime in 2020- an election year- and they fail, the American people on BOTH sides of the aisle may well destroy them.  I guess we shall just have to wait and see. Too bad that if they fail they do not have to undergo the same procedure to get them out of office.  Scumbags.
Join me tomorrow.  Thanks.

Above, you see the caricature created for me by Bakersfield street artist, the amazing Simone.  We have gone this route because of increasing threats against the blog and its members.  I began my career as a young chef in the kitchen back in 1975, earlier than that.  I apprenticed underneath my father and spent six years working for him in his British-Irish restaurant in Fresno, California.  I later moved to Frazier Park, California, and spent quite a few years working in the area and that is where I met Stinkbug.  Anyhow, I am now working at a country club over on the coast near San Luis Obispo.  Please note: this is my pen name and any photos of me are simply outdated photos adopted for maintaining my privacy.

SPECIAL ALBUMS OF THE DAY:

Posted @ the Saturday, September 08, 2012 Blog Post:

On March 26, 1976, one of the best albums the Santana band would ever release, “Amigos,” hit record store shelves and did so with a bang.  This is an amazing album that found a return to the Latin sounds that made the original band famous as well as some funk-fusion elements that captivate the listener.  Joining Carlos Santana (guitars/backing vocals/percussion), Tom Coster (keyboards), David Brown (bass), Leon “Ndugu” Chancier (drums), Armando Perraza (assorted percussion), Greg Walker (vocals), and some background vocalists.  From the opening tune, “Dance, Sister, Dance” (one of the all-time greats) to the closing notes of “Let It Shine,” this album is a pleasure to listen to so why not seek it out now wherever you go for the BEST in music and ear candy?

Posted @ the Thursday, July 03, 2014 Blog Post A:

The Yardbirds released their next album, “Having a Rave Up,” on November 15, 1965.  This album featured a studio side with Jeff Beck and a live side featuring Eric Clapton.  The band consisted of Keith Relf (vocals, harmonica and percussion), Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck (lead guitar/vocals), Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar), Paul Samwell-Smith (bass/backing vocals), and Jim McCarty (drums/backing vocals).  Once again, the band delivers some rocking tunes, the kind of which are still on the radio to the day when one ventures into the big cities of the United States.  We know you will love this album as much as we do which is why we highly encourage everyone to seek it out and add it your collection; you will be glad you did.
