SUMMER SESSION 2018

BLOG POST #2,849 AT THE AICP-END

EIGHTY DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

I end the week with two stories: the first, how to beat Diversified Consultants and the second, why the f**k do telemarketers continue calling for my mom who has been dead nearly six years?
Weedpatch, CA, 08-19-2018 Sunday:  Folks, today is my final day of the year (unless some unknown cataclysm causes me to come in) so I will finish with two stories, one a tale of triumph and the other a major gripe.
When I was here last, I shared some thoughts on a criminal company that pursues debtors or in most cases (or so I believe), ‘marks,’ people whom they determine might have some connection to someone else owing a debt whom they then browbeat into submission.
In my view, the debt collection agency, Diversified Consultants, are little more than criminals themselves and must be stopped
The company of which, I speak is Florida-based, Diversified Consultants.  Beginning in 2017 around late August, early September, this company began calling my abode never leaving a name, number, and a detailed message as the recording asked them to do.
I NEVER answer the phone, always choosing to screen my calls because there are so many telemarketers (part of my next story) who call and call and call.  Most of the time, they are seeking my mom, a woman who died nearly six years ago.
Back to Diversified Consultants, I began noticing the same bevy of numbers in the caller ID so I began calling them back with an untraceable VOIP phone and found out their company’s name.
Okay, that was good and then when I called them and asked them ‘what exactly, do you do,’ the receptionist would be extremely coy, urging me to give them MY number so they ‘could look me up’ and then she would tell me who they were- not a good sign.
When I discovered who and what they were, I knew more or less whom they were seeking, some skank I made the misfortune of banging for a year about 16 years ago.  I believe that when I dumped this ho, she used my mom’s phone number when she sought out credit as the contact number in case they could not get in touch with the ho.
I was pretty sure whom Diversified Consultants was seeking but not knowing who or where they were, I was not about to make up false information
Over the years, debt collection agencies called seeking a person who went by some other name but I was certain, I knew who they were searching for but had no clue as to where or how they could locate the person.
Since neither my mother or I were eager to smear someone for something if we were not sure exactly who it was they were seeking, we were not going to say, “It’s this ho and not the skank they said they were seeking, the so-called “Clarissa Love.”  Sounds like a porn actress’ name.
By March of this year, I was growing tired of the daily hang-up calls, ones that NEVER gave us the simple requested three things- full name, legitimate callback number, and a detailed message so I sought help online.
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a godsend
I found the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and filed a complaint with them in a very simple and easy process.  The online site asked me questions, which I answered in full, providing times I was called, the response, and why I would never answer them and deal with the sons-of-bitches directly.
I told the CFPB that I knew that if I answered the phone that their reputation dictated they would immediately latch onto me like a case of crabs from the ho I once banged and it would take God Almighty Himself to disentangle me from something over which, I had no obligation or responsibility.
Well, within two weeks, the CFPB got back in touch and told me the case was closed and that Diversified Consultants would NEVER bother my wife and I again (Mom died in 2012).  The person in charge at Diversified Consultants even wrote a short message saying that ‘because of inaccurate information, they would not continue calling my number’ but no excuse for their despicable misinformed actions.  Oh, well, I guess I should have been happy.
Never take abuse from Diversified Consultants lying down- go on the warpath
Friends, if you are bothered by a POS company such as Diversified Consultants, do not despair and do not seek a lawyer to help you beat the abuse.  Contact the CFPB online and fill out the form.  Be truthful, tell them what your part in the story is and ask them for help.
No one should have to suffer abuse from a crappy company that derives a big part of its revenue stream from intimidating people into the mistaken belief that they somehow are responsible for another’s debt because you are not and besides, in most states, debts are uncollectible after a certain amount of time so advise yourself on the laws.
And now, for my second gripe: telephone charities still seeking my dead mom 5.5 years later
The other gripe is this: my Mom has been gone since November 2012 and the various charities to whom she once donated so generously continue calling looking for her to give them money.
When I tell them to ‘stop calling because my Mom has been gone for six flipping years,’ they say they ‘are sorry’ and tell me ‘we won’t bother you again’ and then, there they are.
There are some charities to which my wife and I would love to donate but because the people who call seeking constant donations are out-of-control maggots, we will never donate a single red cent.
What is even worse is that even when they claim they won’t sell YOUR information, they do and other frigging companies call seeking donations.  It is maddening and I cannot stand it anymore so the damned phone numbers are undergoing changes or being discontinued altogether.  Makes more sense to use burner phones and Obama phones.
Charities must monitor the agencies they sub-contract with to do the calling for them as most of these people are no better than the scum working for Diversified Consultants
Charities, you guys need to wise up as you are NO frigging better than a debt collection criminal enterprise such as Diversified Consultants, a horrible business if one ever existed but any easy one to beat if you seek out the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  You have problems like this, do what I tell you and you can end your troubles for good.
That is going to do it for this stint so in November, please make sure you vote to support Donald Trump by voting for ALL Republicans.  We must continue his good works.

Due to increasingly strident threats from our ‘admirers,’ we have had local street artist Simone do cartoon caricatures of each of us and this one is mine; way to go there Simone, way to go.  As professionals and as business owners, we seek to protect our identities and our businesses from intimidation and harm, hence the new artwork.  Ah, well, I began my culinary career in 1969 bussing tables at age 12 and became a cook's apprentice in 1973 at age 17. I have worked all over California, Hawaii, Washington State, and even a brief time in Arizona
