SUMMER SESSION 2018

BLOG POST #2,837 AT THE AICP-END

NINETY-TWO DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

One thing the new breed of young Democratic-Socialists lack is real life experience
Wasco, CA, 08-07-2018 Tuesday: In the summer of 2017, I wrote a post in which, I asked of Maxine Waters why she has to label everyone with whom she disagrees, especially if they aren’t black, a ‘racist.’  You overuse a very important term such as that one and you will rue the day when you REALLY need to use that word because no one is going to listen.
I get the idea that ‘Auntie Maxine’ has now become a big star on the left.  She, like Senator Bernie Sanders and his understudy, the dumb as a box of cat crap candidate for Congress, the pathetically ignorant imbecile from New York, you know, the one who beat Old Joe Crowley.
Speaking of Old Joe, he is the number one exhibit of what is wrong with our party.   Talk about phoning it in, the Congressman could not even bother to come to one or more of their primary debates, so busy was the old codger measuring the drapes for what he assumed would be his new ‘Speaker’s’ office.
Now, we should not shed tears for him because he bears sole responsibility for what happened to him, lock, stock, and barrel.  He could have gone and debated her, called her out on her stupid ideas but oh, no, he dispatched an underling to do the honors while Old Joe was sitting at his Washington DC home, drinking booze and spanking the wank.
Now, we see the same storm brewing up in the 9th Congressional District in Washington State, whose primary election, I believe is today.  Young charismatic, self-proclaimed Democratic-Socialist, 30-year-old Sarah Smith is going up against 21-year veteran Congressman Adam Smith.
The Smith-on-Smith Rumble in the Green Jungle promises to be just as ugly as the contest between goo-goo-eyed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Old Joe Crowley.  However, I suspect Congressman Smith smells the blood in the water and that his political senses are on full alert having seen what befell his New York buddy in last month’s primary election.
This girl, Sarah Smith, she wants FREE this, FREE that, FREE everything and throws around numbers and stats as though she is a professional politician unlike the guttural stupidity that spills out of the mouth of the girl she seeks to emulate.
If I were Congressman Smith, I would be concerned as it is difficult to run against someone who wants to give everyone free health care, free higher educations, debt relief from student loan debt, and wants to get the United States out of ongoing global wars.
It is difficult to argue with someone who seeks to give FREE EVERYTHING to people who have little to nothing, something that seems to afflict much of the country.
As for the wars, I cannot argue with her on that one either because although there was a good reason for originally entering into war in Afghanistan, what is the point to continue seeing our young men and women dying or getting their limbs blown off, disfigured for life, all because we are fighting a war from which, we cannot find the exit?
Young Ms. Smith also wants to abolish ICE, which as anyone with common sense understands is a bad idea, a bad, bad idea as we have enough problems with open borders and criminal illegals roaming around us.  I am not one of those used prophylactics lying in the street who believes that bringing in gobs of non-citizens to work in our businesses and to vote in our elections is a good idea.
We need ICE and talk of abolishing it is outright crazy yet young Ms. Smith could and most likely will unseat Congressman Smith because he is an old dinosaur and she represents the new, vibrant, and youthful (crazy) wing of our party.
Let me share an idea with the younger members of my party.  The best way to win elections is to offer something voters want and more importantly, believe you can deliver.  The bloom went off the rose as our last champion swore he would shut down the POW gulag at Guantanamo Bay, yet that facility continues to operate to this day.
As for providing a ‘living wage’ to workers while at the same time lessening the divide between the ultra-wealthy and the average citizens is simple: deport ALL illegal aliens other than those essential for agriculture businesses to function.
In so doing, employers—particularly the wealthy ones—would have to pay more for their employees as well as offer better benefits packages.  It is as simple as the mole on my face, fewer non-citizen, low wage workers means wages go up for the workers while reducing the divide between us and them.
Look, none of this is rocket science, it comes from real life experience and not sitting in a classroom all one’s short, abbreviated life.  I am not slamming any of the younger generation of liberal Democrats, the ones who are still wet behind the ears, I am only saying that some real life experience is essential before going out and talking crazy.
While Senator Bernie Sanders lit the imaginations of millions on fire back in 2015-16, his political action committee, Brand New Congress (BNC), is out there finding dopes and dummies to seek office, people who are going to harm our party more than they are going to help it.
Ah, well, we shall see what happens between here and November.  Whatever happens, it is going to be a zany ride.

This is a cartoon caricature of me when I was working at a restaurant in Wasco, CA, my hometown.  The up-and-coming Bakersfield, California, street artist Simone did portraits of each of us here at the blog so I hope you like them as much as I, ahem, do.  Ah, well, I joined the Chefs de Cuisine of Greater Bakersfield, ACF, not long after it was chartered and am still a member even though the chapter is no longer in operation.  I began working in foodservice in the late 1960’s, moved from Wasco, CA, to Monterey, CA, and then returned to my hometown in 2004.  I have been a food server, a Mixologist, and am a Certified Cook.  I am equally at home in both the kitchen and behind the bar (and on the floor, too).  My passions are numerous, and my favorite is working in the bakery whenever I have had a chance.

The next addition to the amazing Dicks Picks series by the Grateful Dead is “Dick’s Picks Vol. XXVI—Electric Theater, Chicago, IL, 04/26/69 and Labor Temple, Minneapolis, 4/27/69” (2002).  These were heady days for the band when they were performing music that would grace their first live album, “Live Dead” (1969).  As you can imagine, this was the era when Pigpen was at the mic, belting out the tunes that his fans still recall today as being the best, you know, the crème de la crème of the early days.  We hope you will use our link, so you can go to Amazon.com and pick it up there in the format, the condition, and the price that works for you—you will be glad you did.

Tuesday, December 31, 2013 Blog Post:

In November 1975, one of the most controversial albums released by Hendrix associates, “Midnight Lightning” hit record store shelves.  Once again, producer Alan Douglas sorted through the massive amount of material that the guitarist created in the studio.  Of course, much of it was guitar and bass parts as he was forever in a state of constant creation with some of the tracks featuring musicians with whom he had played.  Well, Mr. Douglas picked tunes that he wanted, erased many of the backup parts and even some of Hendrix’s and brought in musicians who had NEVER played with Jimi, thereby giving the effort a peculiar feel, to say the least.  If you are interested, please use the link we provide you here so you can visit Amazon.com where you can check it out.  Let us know what YOU think.
