BLOGPOST #2,692 AT THE AICP-END

TWO HUNDRED-AND-THIRTY-SIX DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

TODAY IS MY 100th BLOG POST AT THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY!

Old-time Democrats recall a time when many centrist Dems existed
Shafter, CA, 03-15-2018 Thursday:  Wow.  To listen to the babbling pundits on cable news, what appears to be an election loss by Republican Rick Saccone in the 18th Congressional District in Pennsylvania to Democrat Conor Lamb, one would think the world was in the process of screeching to a halt.  I must laugh because as a Democrat, if Conor Lamb is for REAL and not just another wolf lurking in an elephant’s skin, the Democratic Party has much to fear and to lose.
Old-time Democrats such as myself, my wife, my family, and my friends remember a time when rock-solid, God-fearing, gun-loving, patriotic Democrats existed, a time before whack jobs such as Nancy Pelosi (woof!), Chuckie-Boy Schumer, Elizabeth ‘Fauxchahontas” Warren, Kamala “I want to see ICE disappear” Harris coopted a solid party and ran off with it like a stolen Trans-Am on a Saturday night.
We may not have been a perfect political entity but then, neither have the Republicans, all parties go through changes, most for the good, some for the bad, but we had a lot of negative history to cleanse ourselves of such as racism, the Ku Klux Klan, bigotry, Jim Crow, and ‘separate but equal.’
The Republicans were racists, too, as up until the time of Herbert Hoover, the GOP owned the votes of minorities, after all, they were the ‘Party of Lincoln,’ the one that freed the slaves so why then in the 1920s did they push them away and not want their support?  Racism afflicted both sides of the political spectrum.
We know that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt did not love America’s black population but that his farsighted wife, Eleanor, a woman whom he cheated on with another woman, supposedly her friend, urged him to do things for the blacks as if they did, the Democratic Party would own their votes forever.
His successor, Harry S. Truman integrated the U.S. military and the civil service just as Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Baines Johnson worked at passing several new pieces of civil rights legislation ALL for the express purpose of owning the minority vote.
Modern-day Democrats, the ones that either came to power or were already in power when Barack Obama became president seek to tar and feather their political opponents with the goo of racism instead of truly finding something for which to stand instead of just slinging mud at the opposition.  We must stand for something more other than name-calling and the politics of personal destruction.
This then is the reason WHY that if Conor Lamb pulls the election off, he goes against EVERYTHING for which, the current version of the Democratic Party stands.  He says he ‘will not vote for Nancy Pelosi to become speaker if the Dems reclaim the House in November,’ which is good news for many Democrats.
Moreover, he says he ‘will defend 2nd Amendment rights, he is against abortion, he favors protective tariffs, he wants a strong military’ and numerous other things the GOP either pushes and promotes or seeks to continue or institute.  Everything Mr. Lamb favors goes against the grain of modern-day Democratic Party politics, so the Dems should act as though they pulled off a major coup in Tuesday’s special election.
We desperately need centrist Democrats to return to power once again so those of us who still cling to our party affiliation but who, more often than not, cross the great divide and vote Republican can feel good about our party.
What’s more, we are not racists nor are our enemies ‘racist’ so to continue calling everyone with whom we disagree by this vile term only diminishes our standing rather than improving it.
I guess we will see what happens and whether Mr. Lamb truly means what he expounds or if he will show his true colors and become yet another blind follower of Chuck and Nancy and Barack and Hillary.  I hope he is who he claims to be and not another far left, fire-breathing leftist idiot.
Amigos, I will see you tomorrow for our Friday session so please, make sure you join me here at 12:01 A.M.
Muchas gracias, buen amigos!
