THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY COMMENTARY-OPINION-SPORTS-FOOD SERVICE FOR FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2018 BY CHEF BEA O’MALLEY

WINTER SESSION 2017-18

BLOGPOST #2,665 AT THE AICP-END

TWO HUNDRED-AND-SIXTY-THREE DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

Compared to Barack Obama, Donald Trump is a garden stone; yet, he has his good points…
Wasco, CA, 02-16-2018 Friday:  I will admit that I find current events cause me to be conflicted at times, I know there have been times when I thought Donald J. Trump was the most obtuse and rude individual I ever saw or heard in my entire life. Everyone must admit that the man is not a polished gem but a piece of common garden rock, one so roughshod that he grates people the wrong way whenever they encounter him.
I will admit, I felt shock, sadness, and fell to my knees begging God to tell me, “WHY, OH, WHY, did this man win the White House, especially when his predecessor was cultured, wise, and smooth as the finest summer day in the Tehachapi Mountains?”
Last November, I made a comment on my Google Plus page as to why the Democratic Party had not yet brought up articles of impeachment because it seemed at the time the President was intent on dragging our nation down as he insulted all manner of people.  He went after Gold-Star parents, women, Latinos, Mexican judges, you name it, the President zipped after them like a hound dog after a fleeing possum.
Then, daily events began opening my eyes.  I sought my news from a variety of news channels, not just NBC and MSNBC but also from Fox.  I had heard nothing but despicable things about the goings-on at Fox, how every woman working there was a blonde bimbo with nothing between her ears but emptiness.
After watching Megan Kelly on NBC, I thought what I, your ever-searching host, could lose by giving them a few hours of my time, so I went over to FNC and began watching a couple of shows when I arrived home at the end of the night: Tucker Carlson and Bret Baier, recorded on my DVR.
I found both shows to be quite intriguing and enlightening, even entertaining, and the more I watched the shows, the more I realized that there were voices more diverse than anything I had heretofore watched on my chosen channels.  In fact, I saw far more EDUCATED liberals on Fox than I ever saw conservatives on MSNBC, I mean, Rachel Maddow, snide, snarky, and as bull dyke as they come.  Woof.
All I remember about the ‘old days’ on FNC was the pompous Bill O’Reilly, acting as though he was the BIG DOG of the channel, until we found out that he was groping and grabbing women in very disrespectful ways, just as the network chief was accused of doing, too.
I now look at President Trump in a slightly different way- I think he has undergone a concerted effort by the Hillary camp, the administrative state, and certain other Democrats who could not come to grips with the fact that our gal lost, and their guy won.
The more I look at things, the more I see how under assault his presidency has been.  It is clear to me—as it should be to you—that the Democratic Party is angry that it lost what it considered a ‘sure bet’ in 2016, only there was no way that Hillary was ever going to win the White House.  I, like everyone else I know, pulled the wool over my eyes and drank the Kool-Aid that I made for myself.
I also said back in September 2015 that ‘if Donald Trump kept bashing illegal aliens and was going to deport them, I could see myself voting for him.’  I did not vote for him, but I do approve of the increased presence of ICE here in California (sssh, don’t tell anyone, I beg you) because enough is enough.
Like the gays, the party leadership—especially here in California--has gone down the wrong path and it is high time, we begin reclaiming our state, our party, and our nation for our posterity.
With that said, I will say, “farewell, we will meet again tomorrow, when I will deal with the anger I know my words will have caused.”
We all grow over the course of our lives and you can bet I am growing.  While I may never become a Republican, there are some things I sure do like about what is going on and building a wall is sure as heck one of them.
See you tomorrow and God bless you all.

This is I, your glorious hostess, back in the 1980’s when I was working at a restaurant in Wasco, CA, my hometown.  I joined the Chefs de Cuisine of Greater Bakersfield, ACF, not long after it was chartered and am still a member even though the chapter is no longer in operation.  I began working in foodservice in the late 1960’s, moved from Wasco, CA, to Monterey, CA, and then returned to my hometown in 2004.  I have been a food-server, a Mixologist, and am a Certified Cook.  I am equally at home in both the kitchen and behind the bar (and on the floor, too).  My passions are numerous, and my favorite is working in the bakery whenever I have had a chance.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2018

The fifth album by British boogie-rock band, Foghat, “Fool for the City,” came out on September 15, 1975, and was the album that put them over the top—for the next 15 years or so.  The band had a slight change in personnel what with Nick Jameson replacing Tony Stevens on bass, keyboards, and backing vocals.  Stevens had grown tired of the constant touring and wanted to return home to England.  This album contains two monster hits- the title cut and “Slow Ride,” an epic 8-minute, 11-second tune that radio stations played in full.  We hope that you will use the link we provide you here, so you can go to Amazon.com, the world’s greatest online marketplace and soon to become a brick-and-mortar giant, too, and pick this album up.  Once you arrive there, you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that works best for you—you will thank us for sending you there.
