BLOGPOST #2,604 AT THE AICP-END

THREE HUNDRED-AND-TWENTY-TWO DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAYS 2018

Hoorah to Doug Jones- now let’s see you keep the seat in 2020
Arvin, CA, 12-18-2017 Monday:  Back in July, I was extremely confident that we were on the verge of negating the Trump presidency but now, I am not so sure.  The information regarding the various nefarious individuals (i.e., Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and others) who sought to drag Trump out of the White House in handcuffs, FBI agents and Fusion GPS hacks, now threaten to derail the entire campaign to make things ‘right.’
Many of my friends clapped their hands over the results of last Tuesday’s special election down in Alabama to fill the Senate seat once held by Jeff Sessions, now our attorneys-general.  They proclaimed this ‘massive electoral win’ of 20,000 or so votes as a monumental sign that we are moving in the right direction and that 2018 is going to be a banner year for the Democrat Party.  Please!
Doug Jones won the seat and big freaking deal.  BIG FREAKING DEAL, people!  He is going to lose that seat in the same way that Scott Brown lost the Senate seat once held by the “Lion of the Senate,” Teddy Kennedy, to Elizabeth Warren once it came around again in a regular election cycle.
At the time that Brown won the seat, it was indeed a special election to fill the void left by Senator Kennedy’s demise.  As we all remember, there was a major battle underway between the Democrats and the obstructionist Republicans over the passage of Obamacare and Brown’s winning of the seat guaranteed that the Affordable Care Act would not be able to make through using normal means.
The Democrats found a way to do what had to be done and when it came time for Brown to run for reelection in 2012, he lost to Elizabeth Warren, the one President Trump derisively calls “Pocahontas,” by a margin of 54-percent to 46-percent.
We also must note, too, that President Obama was running for reelection then, too, so his coattails carried in additional people with him, despite what the Republicans say about the 44th President.
What happened in Alabama on December 12, 2017, means little to nothing as that state is a deep, deep red and there is no way in hell that Doug Jones is going to retain that seat, not unless he becomes a conservative Democrat and betrays the party as Senator Richard Shelby once did—never forget.  Otherwise, he will become dead meat for Mo Brooks or Luther Strange to consume and that will be that.
The only way in which the Democrat Party can replicate its successes under Barack Obama is to find a way to derail the Trump train, something I seriously doubt will be difficult to do, especially with allegations of sexual misconduct and the man, himself, saying what he could do with impunity to women because he is a ‘powerful man.’  Look, if we are throwing Al Franken and John Conyers under the bus, we should be able to hold President Trump to the same standard.  It is only a matter of time.
Thanks for joining me today; I appreciate your attendance as this is the final time of the year in which, you will hear from a solidly blue Democrat for the week.  After that, Mo will come in and finish the year and you know how Mo feels on virtually everything.
See you tomorrow.
