BLOGPOST #2,605 AT THE AICP-END

THREE HUNDRED-AND-TWENTY-ONE DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAYS 2018

We begin looking at next year’s 2018 Senate Elections now
Arvin, CA, 12-19-2017 Tuesday:  Next year, 2018, is going to be a momentous year for Democrats or it is going to be our demise and the reason I say this is because the Senate is the battleground, not the House.  Sure, we want to increase our numbers in the House because there is this forlorn hope that somehow, we will have the numbers to impeach Donald Trump.  However, if we lose additional seats in the Senate, what difference is it going to make whether we win the House, or we lose it?
As a pragmatist, I look at things in black and white.  I do not see all these rosy shades of sultry colors rippling off into the distance as though they were keys on a piano.  I do my best to call things the way I see them and not allow my hopes, dreams, and wishes to overtake my common sense.  Sadly, there are very few Democrats who can say the same.
Anyhow, the races are going to be tight to win the Senate.  I cannot see a Democrat winning the Arizona seat currently held by Jeff Flake.  Even though the wishy-washy schmuck is going to retire, Arizona is a tough place for Democrats to win even with a bum such as John McCain—unless something drastically changes there.
In California, Dianne Feinstein most likely is going to run again.  However, I have this fear that as our state government continues taxing the hell out of everything that people—even like me—are going to stay home or are going to vote third party.
You see, we will do this because we want Jerry Brown to listen to us and stop with the over-taxation and the increasing of fees on virtually everything like this bullshit crap of high-speed rail—it ain’t gonna happen, Mr. Moonbeam as more important things need attention like dams, illegal immigration, and an economy that benefits only a select few.
California is a shining example of the Democrat ‘Dream’ gone wrong.  Our state government believes that since it has overwhelming majorities in both the state Assembly and the Senate as well as controls all statewide seats that it can do no wrong.
Furthermore, it believes that we, Democrats, will continue blindly voting for them.  I fear our state might flip RED within the next 2-3 election cycles.
Chris Murphy in Connecticut, Tom Carper in Delaware, and Bill Nelson in Florida should be extremely safe as should Mazie Hirono in Hawaii.  However, Joe Donnelly in Indiana most likely is going to lose his seat because the GOP there is increasing pressure on the lackluster politician and most likely is going to sweep his seat.
In Maryland, Ben Cardin should have no problem as should Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts.  However, with everyone labeling Warren as someone other than honest due to her getting a six-figure-per-year salary at a prestigious university based upon the claim that she is ‘Native American’ and the derisive moniker applied to her by President Trump, aka ‘Pocahontas,’ she might very lose that race.
In Michigan, Debbie Stabenow should have no problem; however, if Kid Rock runs against her, I seriously doubt the veteran politician will survive the challenge.  In Minnesota, we know Al Franken is stepping down (or not) and that Amy Klobuchar has drawn closer to Trump on several things—for now.
Claire McCaskill should do okay in Missouri while I suspect that Jon Tester will lose Montana—big time.  Bob Menendez in New Jersey most likely will lose the seat considering he is tainted from the corruption trial he just beat but a fellow Democrat might win the seat.
Friends, we will reconvene tomorrow and continue our discourse on the races before us and what our ultimate chances are going to be.  Please, join me back here tomorrow as well as at the secondary blog—I look forward to hearing from ALL of you.
