THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY COMMENTARY-OPINION-SPORTS-FOOD SERVICE FOR SUNDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2017 BY CHEF ROLAND CARL DAVIS, EDITOR

WINTER SESSION 2017

BLOGPOST #2,610 AT THE AICP-END

THREE HUNDRED-AND-SIXTEEN DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

CHRISTMAS EVE!  PEACE ON EARTH, GOOD WILL TO HUMANITY!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!
Arvin, CA, 12-24-2017 Sunday:  Friends of the blog as well as those visiting for the first time, thank you for being with us throughout the year.  We have striven long and hard to publish an interesting and informative Website, one with pithy articles and links to a wide variety of news, political opinion, and culinary Websites.  It is our wish to entice people from a wide range of backgrounds, politics, ideas, philosophies, and those seeking something new and entertaining to visit.  Thank you.
Tonight, is Christmas Eve and that means tomorrow, we will celebrate Christmas Day.  My family and I come from different celebratory backgrounds, my wife celebrated Christmas Eve more so than the Day while my family and I always celebrated the Day.  Now, we blend the two, going to church in the evening and again on the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World.
A year ago, no one knew what was going to happen this year as we suffered one hammer blow after another.  We underwent a horrendous presidential election cycle last year that has ripped the nation in two.  Americans are more at odds with one another now than they have ever been without any sign of a rapprochement anytime soon.
We watched one hurricane after another hammer the Gulf Coast as well as the Atlantic and the island of Puerto Rico, still fighting to recover some semblance of normalcy after what they experienced.  We hope that the aid they require blesses their shores sometime soon, so they can have a normal 2018 as we all hope we can.
We have seen senseless gun violence afflict our nation and at the time of this writing, we still do not know the truth about what occurred in Las Vegas on October 1.
Murderer Stephen Paddock shot and killed more people in a brief amount of time than any other shooter in the history of our nation and still, we have no clue as to what REALLY happened that night.
We have seen more home-grown jihad attacks here in the USA and around the world, mostly committed by idiots here in the United States but some in the Third World absolutely appalling in the level of perfidy and violence committed on the unsuspecting.  Even with ISIS on the run, the threat remains, and my family and I hope we can destroy the remnants and return peace to the world.
We have also seen a belligerent madman in Pyongyang threaten the world with a nuclear holocaust, yet we are still here today.  We pray our president will not make an off-the-cuff decision that will ignite the Third World War as millions will die and for what.
My hope is that somehow, we can heal our political divisions and become one nation again but so long as the bully of bullies resides in the White House, that might not be possible.  However, we, the people, should be able to communicate with one another without wanting to kill or harm one another as we once could and should.
I hope that 2018 will see a renewal of the things that made our country great and that we will always recall that we are Americans, through and through.  It matters not if we have lived here for generations or have braved the vast distances of the Third World to make it here.
We should be able to help everyone in this country achieve a higher standard of living than any other nation instead of fighting one another over stupid things.  I hope we can and will do these things and I pledge myself and my resources to make my small part of the bigger picture—Arvin, California—a better place for all.
Merry Christmas, happy New Year, and God bless America, you and yours.  Tomorrow, Mo will be here to do the next two weeks and then, we get back on schedule.
