THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CULINARY POLITICS-ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY COMMENTARY-OPINION-SPORTS-FOOD SERVICE FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2017 BY CHEF ROLAND CARL DAVIS, EDITOR

WINTER SESSION 2017

BLOGPOST #2,609 AT THE AICP-END

THREE HUNDRED-AND-SEVENTEEN DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2018

At some point, over-taxation and excessive fees coupled with almost impossible regulations are going to give the GOP a belated Christmas present--California
Arvin, CA, 12-23-2017 Saturday: Since we are writing ahead so we can deal with our professional and personal issues and responsibilities prior to the holiday week going full bore, we tend to be somewhat behind when it comes to keeping up with the news of the day.  That said, what the heck, folks, whether we talk about something that occurred yesterday or a week ago?  What we do at this blog is to share our opinions and comments on the news of the day, NOT report the news of the day, which we leave for others to do.
A week ago, this past Thursday, it appeared that the reinvigorated GOP—stunned by the loss of CHOMO former Alabama State Supreme Court Judge Roy Moore—jumped into high gear and accomplished two things.
First, President Trump had the Secret Service box up Omarosa’s belongings and put her out on the street (so much for reaching out to black folks, POTUS), and second, drove the GOP to pass their ‘big tax cut for the American people.’
The bully of bullies then bragged about how he was going to give the American people a ‘big beautiful tax cut for Christmas,’ one that will give the average American middle-class worker another $38 in their pocket each week--$38 in their pocket after the week, for God’s sake—and which will continue enriching America’s corporations.
Now, I do not despise corporations, they are important and do many things, but do we truly need to give the wealthy yet more money?  I am not against the rich nor am I against being rich as everyone I know—young, old, immigrant and citizen alike—seeks to become rich.
However, giving a ‘tax cut’ to corporations while ripping off more and more dwindling cash from the middle-and-lower-middle classes makes no sense.
Hell, it makes as much sense as our crazy governor, the worthless Jerry Brown, seeks to put a tax on the mileage people drive.  How is that going to affect the poor, Jerry Brown?  Are you truly a Republican in disguise now, one who seeks to hand the Golden State over the damned GOP?
One must wonder sometimes about how our statewide politicians view our state.  They seem to view it as some sort of never-ending cash cow from which, they can rip off an endless stream of money with which, to finance their loony tunes, smoke and mirrors ideas such as high-speed rail or stopping Climate Change.
Do we truly need a FAST train that will make 20 stops between San Francisco and Los Angeles when we have people living in poverty?
I normally do not care to bash fellow Democrats but we sure as heck need new blood in Sacramento and none of the fossils or nuts that currently reside there.  I have this theory that as the Dems continue driving our state into the hole, at some point, even the resolute, diehard Democrat voters such as me are going to say ‘enough’ and throw our votes to—God forbid—the Republicans just to stop the hemorrhaging.
My wish for Christmas is that my state government would wake up, stop gallivanting around the world attempting to swing Climate Change deals with the communist Chinese.
Remain in the state, fix the dams, help the poor with housing, medical care, perhaps an increase in wages.  If Trump can give a ‘tax cut’ to the American people, why can’t our state’s leaders give the people a REAL break in all the taxes they force us to pay?
Why not help the businesses here struggling to meet excessive rules and regulations so we can keep our state in the BLUE column and not see it flip to the RED?  What a Christmas gift that would be.  If anyone has the answers, please, let me know.
See you tomorrow, have a blessed day.
