THREE HUNDRED-AND-TWENTY DAYS AFTER ELECTION DAY

The Election of 2000 is what has led to our present predicament
Ventura, CA, 09-24-2017 Sunday: Welcome to the Sunday edition of the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, the place where professional chefs regale one another with their political knowledge, discuss the difficult issues of the day, and comment on whatever else comes up or intrigues us.
Yesterday, I shared my thoughts with you that the liberals, you know, the far-left Democrats, are rapidly approaching the ‘Rubicon’ of their very own, one that could engineer their end or that of the nation.
In looking back through the history of our nation, we have never quite seen the tableau we find ourselves viewing now, one in which, one party simply cannot come to grips with losing an election for the White House.
The nearest we come to such an event is the contested election of 2000, the one in which, Vice President Al Gore accepted his campaign loss but then after prodding by members of his campaign and party decided that he would withdraw his concession of the election results and go into full guerilla mode and fight to win four Florida counties.
The reason for his withdrawal of his concession is that when various news outlets called George W. Bush the ‘winner,’ they did so base upon exit polls, something that means little nowadays in a time when many people would rather not tell total strangers for whom they voted.
Once the actual numbers began coming in from Florida, the BIG MEDIA began proclaiming that Al Gore ‘won Florida,’ which would have placed him in the White House.  Once the Vice President heard the news, he called Governor Bush to withdraw his concession.
According to “The American President” by Kathryn Moore (Fall River Press, 2007), Governor Bush won Florida but by a very small margin, at or around 2,000 votes.  This, of course, made sense to Vice President Gore to fight to make sure that ‘every vote counted’ and so the mess ensued that would keep the nation on the edge of its seat for several weeks.
State law in Florida required that ALL counties using machine tabulations had to initiate an immediate recount.  In so doing, the margin of victory enjoyed by Governor Bush was just 300 votes.  300 votes.  300 votes, folks.
Of course, Governor Bush did not want the recount of four, heavily-laden Democrat counties in the Sunshine State to ensue while the Vice President obviously did.
Lawsuits ensued, back and forth, and the nation found itself watching hand recounts of the vote over and over and over to the point, people became visibly angry, frustrated, and irritated with one another.
The Florida Republican Secretary of State Katherine Harris became mired in election history as someone who would not accept the hand recounts, making Democrats vow that they would seek to win the same position in subsequent states around the nation so they could stop someone such as her attempting to stop the theft of an election.
The Florida State Supreme Court did accept the hand recounts, which was not good for Governor Bush as each member of the state’s high court enjoyed his or her position through appointment by Democrat governors.  It appeared that Vice President Gore was going to pull a victory out of the fire.
This battle featured battles between the Gore camp and the Bush camp that witnessed lawyers going to various state courts as well as to the Supreme Court—twice.
In the end, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruled that the ongoing recount must stop so that the date the federal government required a presidential election to undergo electoral certification—December 12—could occur unimpeded.
With the Supreme Court halting any further challenges to the election, Governor Bush won the Electoral College with 271 electoral votes, one more than required to win the 2000 Election.
This in turn caused numerous problems as many Democrats chomped at the bit feeling the nation’s high court had robbed them of the election.  The problem was, had the Vice President won his home state of Tennessee, which he did NOT, the outcome in Florida would not have mattered.
In the end, this set-in motion hard feelings between Democrats and Republicans, something that afflicted the George W. Bush administration for eight years and led to the two victories of Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.
President Obama blamed ALL his ills upon his predecessor because of his childishness, which the Dems relished and Republicans hated.  This in turn led to the victory of Donald J. Trump and so the transparent attempt at dethroning the 45th President of the United States continue.  At what point will it ever stop?
Thanks for being with me this week, we have had a wonderful time swapping ideas, theories, and cold hard facts.  Here is one further fact of note: Vice President Gore won the popular vote- 51,003,926 as opposed to 50,460,110 for Governor Bush intimating once again that illegal aliens played a hand in this and following elections.
Oh, one thing I would love to urge my fellow Republicans to do is to find a way to recruit illegal aliens to switch from voting for Democrats to voting for the GOP.  This will help get them out of the country that much faster once the Dems realize what transpires.
Just a thought, folks, just a thought.  However, if we want to see legitimate elections, we must remove as many illegal aliens as possible including the DREAMers.  See you next time.
Here are my NFL picks for today:
1.      L.A. Rams 1-1 @ San Francisco 2-0 Thursday Night Game: Rams will win.
2.      Baltimore 2-0 vs. Jacksonville 1-1 @ London: Baltimore is going to win.
3.      New Orleans 0-2 @ Carolina 2-0- New Orleans is going to play well but I think the Panthers are going to win on homefield.
4.      Tampa Bay 1-0 @ Minnesota 1-1- Minnesota should win.
5.      Denver 2-0 @ Buffalo 1-1- Denver will crush Buffalo.
6.      Pittsburgh 2-0 @ Chicago 0-2- Pittsburgh no doubts whatsoever, my friends.
7.      Miami 1-0 @ NY Jets 0-2- Miami should win.
8.      NY Giants 0-2 @ Philadelphia 1-1- Philly on homefield.
9.      Atlanta 2-0 @ Detroit 2-0- this is a tough one, it will demonstrate who really wants it.  I suspect Atlanta is going to win because they are determined to avenge their loss in last year’s Super Bowl.
10. Houston 1-1 @ New England 1-1- New England.
11. Cleveland 0-2 @ Indianapolis 0-2- I would like to see Cleveland win but I suspect that Indy is going to stage a comeback.
12. Seattle 1-1 @ Tennessee 1-1- Tennessee.
13. Kansas City 2-0 @ L.A. Chargers 0-2- Kansas City.
14. Cincinnati 0-2 @ Green Bay 1-1- Green Bay.
15. Oakland 2-0 @ Washington 1-1- Oakland appears unstoppable.
  1. Dallas 1-1 @ Arizona 1-1- Dallas surprised us last week.  I think they might come back but Arizona should win.
Thanks for spending your time with me, we will do it again, most likely in 2018.
