SUMMER SESSION 2016

BLOGPOST #2,067 AT THE AICP-END

The War on Cops is getting out of control and that is why we need a ‘law and order president’
Valencia, CA, 07-19-2016 Tuesday: I have never made a secret of me being a strong Republican who sides with the party on practically every matter of importance.  Yesterday, I talked about the specter of violent radical Islamism and today, I feel compelled to mention the tragic and unnecessary deaths of police officers and those of black suspects.  Our nation finds itself beset by a plague of needless violence, a cycle that seemingly will not stop and without a strong President in the White House to provide leadership to a troubled nation I doubt any of it is going to stop.
I understand that young black men have lost their lives at the hands of white police officers and yes, I understand that some of the cops might be racist.  However, I think that we have made amazing change in a somewhat short amount of time that now teeters on the brink, thanks to President Obama and his lack of leadership.
Instead of taking to the bully pulpit as President Theodore Roosevelt called his platform from which, to speak and asking for restraint on all sides, he goes out and either makes his comments about himself or sides with the wrong elements in the situation.  We saw this from the very start with the Cambridge Police Department arresting Professor Skip Gates as he attempted to break into his own home and then got into a verbal confrontation with the cops.  I think the professor did this on purpose to poison the well but that is another story for another time.  Following a ‘beer summit’ at the White House with President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, the cop, and the professor, all seemed well.
On Sunday, three Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police officers died in a hail of bullets while several more cling to life in area hospitals.  The man who did it was a 29-year-old former U.S. Marine, Gavin Long, who was outraged over the recent deaths of two black men at the hands of cops, Alton Sterling (Baton Rouge) and the other, Philando Castile, the motorist shot to death at a traffic stop.
I understand there is anger out there in the nation, since 2008, that anger has been growing, a monstrous red-eyed beast out of control because we have a President who thrives off the energy it produces.  Instead of going out and demanding CALM on ALL sides, he goes out and proclaims, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon Martin” (or whoever else suffered a white cop (or a white Hispanic in the case of George Zimmerman) shooting him to death.
We need a President who can stand before the nation and launch into the growing violence gripping the nation.  When Chicago has more shooting deaths than there are days in the year and NO one goes there to protest the senselessness of it all, one has a right to ask the same question as Donald Trump has: “What the hell is going on?”
We see Black Lives Matter march in protest of white cops shooting young black men, a movement that grew out of a BIG LIE a la what Joseph Goebbels might have spun because Michael Brown did not raise his hands in surrender.  The young man who, after manhandling a store clerk, stole a box of cigars so he and his amigo could go out, and smoke some blunts, found the law on his tail.  Officer Darren Wilson attempted to collar the ‘gentle giant’ and found both his and his suspect's life irrevocably entwined forever.
The ‘gentle giant’ had other plans that day and in the back seat of Officer Wilson’s car, Brown attempted to grab the officer’s service weapon and use it on the cop.  During the brief struggle, Brown extricated himself from the car and when told to ‘turn around and lie on the ground;’ however, Brown instead charged Wilson who had no other choice than to shoot him five times. Yes, five times might seem excessive but the young man was HUGE and was on drugs so he did not respond to the first four bullets and so the myth was born.
The companion of Mr. Brown spun the yarn that his ‘buddy had his hands up and was attempting to surrender when the cop gunned him down in cold blood.’  Well, we all know the liberal leftwing anarchists-communists NEVER let a good crisis go to waste and so the myth spread and grew that Officer Wilson had shot a young man who did nothing to deserve the fate he suffered in Ferguson, Missouri, that day.  Officer Wilson and his family now live in hiding and most likely will for the rest of their lives while one day, someone will probably plug George Zimmerman because he runs around like a nut.
Look, I am not saying some of the issues are without merit but from what we understand about the conflict between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman is that Mr. Martin was an angry young man that he was spending time with his father in Florida because his mother could not control him.  The night he died he was on the phone talking to a girlfriend that ‘some white guy was following him and he suspected that his pursuer was gay or something and that he would go back and find him and beat the hell out of him.’
This is what Trayvon did; he lunged out of the bushes on a rainy night, stoned from smoking weed, and assaulted Zimmerman. The 'white Hispanic' was not up to the task for his quarry to turn around and fight him, so he felt in fear for his life.
As they struggled on the ground and Zimmerman suffered pummeling about his face and upper torso, he managed to get the gun he was carrying out and shot Mr. Brown.  It was a tragic senseless death and yet, Zimmerman was in the right to defend his life.  Perhaps he was stupid to follow the young man as the self-appointed ‘neighborhood watchman’ but if you live in an area that suffers repeated burglaries, and then you know how it feels.  Zimmerman wanted to protect his neighborhood and so became an outlaw.
Unfortunately, we have had other shootings by cops of young black men that leave one baffled as to what in God’s Holy Name is going on.  I think we recall the shooting by Officer Sean Groubert who shot 35-year-old motorist Levar Jones outside of Columbia, South Carolina.  This one eerily resembles the death of Castile a couple of weeks ago because when the officer asked Mr. Jones for his license, he ended up shooting him because he thought he was going for a gun.  I believe Jones survived his traffic stop but the next man did not:
On April 04, 2015, one of the worst crimes imaginable occurred and that was the case of Officer Michael Slager of the North Charleston, South Carolina, Police Department who shot fleeing motorist, Walter Scott, eight times in the back.  Scott was a man who had a warrant or two but nothing to cause him to flee or to suffer death at the hands of the cop.  Yet, that did not prevent Officer Slager for whatever insane reason to use force to prevent the escape of Mr. Scott.  I believe Slager has already stood trial and is in prison for murder but if not, he will soon be there.
On the opposite side of the dial, we had another shocking crime occur on the evening of June 17, 2015, also in Charleston, South Carolina, when Dylann Storm Roof, an obvious racist and nut, took nine lives in a prominent black church.  Roof walked in, sat in a Bible study group with people who welcomed him to the flock, and then around 9:00 P.M. stood up, pulled out a gun and murdered NINE innocent people at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, one of the most shocking crimes of white on black violence yet.
I have to wonder and I know numerous other people ‘wonder,’ too, ‘what the hell is going on?’  When crimes such as this or any of the others happen, the President of the United States—Barack Obama—goes to the podium and either blasts guns or racism, or both.
Everyone who thought that voting for Mr. Obama would FINALLY end racism in America or put the sad issue of slavery to rest sadly fooled one another.  This is the fluid upon which, the President and numerous members of his party feed like parasites.  It is akin to having some ravenous bloodsucker hanging on one’s body drawing out the life force.  Every time an event such as this or the shootings of cops such as Dallas or Baton Rouge, the president wags, his finger at the American people and berates them for being bigoted gun-toting ignoramuses.
In closing, both cops and blacks (and liberals) will continue to view one another with more and more suspicion and the nation will continue in its downward spiral for some time to come.  Let us hope that Donald Trump wins the election, keeps his word, and makes America ‘great again.’  If Hillary Clinton should win, these tragic events will continue happening and the mood of the nation will continue growing worse and worse and it will be akin to what we saw take place in the decade leading up to the Civil War.
George Santayana said it best in The Life of Reason: “Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness…Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” and we are in the midst of that now.  Without the teaching of American or world history in our grammar, junior, and high schools and even now at the college level, we have generations of ill-educated fools who drink the Kool-Aid given them by the liberal Democrats.
Let us hope the nation is salvageable at the end of the next six-to-seven months as if it is not, it may be time to move to Tasmania.
See you tomorrow.
Thank you,
