Prince is but yet another Example of the Fallacy of the Drug War, which is a REAL Shame, I wish I had had the Opportunity to have seen him live, well, and onstage at least once in my Lifetime—Drat!

SPRING SESSION 2016

BLOGPOST #1,979 AT THE AICP-END

I guess I will never have the opportunity to see Prince
Taft, CA, 04-22-2016 Friday:  Yesterday, we lost a musical legend, Prince, most likely (or so it sounds) from some sort of drug overdose.  I have to say, I find it horribly sad because this year—and we are only four months into it—we have lost several rock stars and some actors, too.  Most of the rock and roll stars have died in their early seventies, 72-74 being the typical age of death, while Prince, well, the poor fellow was only 57-years-old.  I hope it was not drugs but the scuttlebutt has already been that seven days ago, he survived one drug scare while the early dope on his elevator death was that it was drugs.
Drugs seem to be a growing crisis in the Western World and our south-of-the-border Latino friends seem intent on sending tons of drugs across the pathetic dividing line.  Look at the recent drug tunnel they found that zigzagged under the border for NINE-football fields’ worth of air-conditional underground craziness.
This is crazy, who builds this stuff, do the Mexican drug thugs bring in former Vietnamese War-era Vietcong tunnel builders or do they recruit Muslim terrorists from the Gaza Strip to build these ominous tunnels?  I would like to think that we have SOME sort of way of detecting these tunnel rats drilling hundreds of yards beneath us.
Nevertheless, I think the War on Drugs is a big fat failure, H-U-G-E, as Senator Bernie Sanders would say.  Here in California, I think we are going to see ‘recreational pot’ yes-or-no on the ballot this fall.  As if we do not already have problems with rampant drug abuse and crime connected to it, the Democrats in Sacramento want to dump even more drug-related problems atop us.  They always tell us that ‘legalized pot’ is going to make crime a thing of the past but we all know that is bullshit, folks, plain, simple, and smelly bullshit.
Here in Bakersfield, California, the home (well, Oildale is the actual home) of the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, we have had numerous pot shop robberies including one that left two workers dead, shot through-and-through.
I thought we heard that pot shops would minimize crime but we have not seen that yet just as we have not seen the bullet train racing up-and-down our valley.  Speaking of High Speed Rail (HSR), originally, the planners sought to run it over the mountains first so they could get the heavy lifting done but since it, too, could appear on the ballot for a revote (along with the ‘recreational pot,’) they now rush to build it from Madeira to Bakersfield.  Who wants to race 200 mph to get from one to the other?  Where the hell do I get a job on the High Speed Rail planning board?
All of this stuff smacks of pipe dreams, folks, HSR and ‘recreational marijuana,’ sounds like a panacea for a rapidly diminishing economy, rising healthcare costs, no hope for higher wages earned on one’s merit instead of through a government handout instead of actually doing something to help the people.
Worse, we see rising crime, hordes of illegal aliens flooding the country (as well as Obama’s Syrian ‘refugees’ pouring in) and to add pot and a phony train atop these very distressing problems is insane; in fact, it makes me gag.
I hope to God we vote every single one of the scumbags out of office here in California, these people are the pits, we need change and we need hope and currently, I do not see ANY of the people running for office capable of fixing things.
You know what?—I am not sure anyone running for president will do it either; they just want to open the door for illegals (whether they go home and come back or just come).  Moreover, it is more important allowing the LGBT folks to use whatever bathroom they wish, and putting a woman on the $20 bill in place of a dead racist president, Andrew Jackson, aka “Old Hickory,” the father of the modern-day Democrat Party.
As for Prince, well, he was a sign of our times, the poor guy was a musical genius, played most of the instruments on all of his records until he began stretching the limits with “Purple Rain” (1984) and the “Around the World in a Day” in 1985 both with his backing band, the Revolution.  No one I know was able to hide from either of these albums and why would they?  They were awesome and the videos on MTV really put him over the top as a world superstar.  I loved “Purple Rain,” “Raspberry Beret,” and “1999.”
I always harbored hope, too, I would have the opportunity to see him and his band at some point in my life, but that dream went down the drain along with my wish to see David Bowie.  What is happening this year?  Yet, we still have the Rolling Stones—how do Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards manage to remain alive?
See you tomorrow.  I hope to be in a better mood for you then.  Ciao!

MORE TO COME FROM THE ROLLING STONES

FRIDAY, APRIL 22, 2016
Bill Wyman decided in 1974 that he was going to record a solo album, one that music fans would know as “Monkey Grip.”  Joined by an all-star cast of musicians, Wyman wrote and sang every song on the album and though some music critics and Stones fans discounted it at the time, the album was the cornerstone that put his LATER career in motion, one that would sustain him when he left the Stones in the 1990s.  Fans of the Stones wanted to ‘hear’ the Stones in his album but Wyman did his thing.  Mick Jagger and Keith Richard monopolized the songwriting credits ripping off their fellow musicians whenever they thought they could get away with it all the while denying them opportunity to do their own tunes.  The only song upon which, Wyman wrote and sang the lead was “In Another Land” on “Their Satanic Majesties Request.”  This is a fine album and one we hope you will avail yourselves of by using our link so you can go to Amazon.com and pick it up there—you will be glad you did.
