SPRING SESSION 2016

BLOGPOST #1,974 AT THE AICP-END

Hiatus Day Number 8
San Luis Obispo, CA, 04-17-2016 Sunday: Finally, the last day of what became a two-week workout although we went on hiatus, which is good, as I do not know about you all; this election is making me sick.  Everyone I know swears the same damned thing, it has gone on longer than anyone expected has and the fatigue of it all wears everyone out.  We know what Donald Trump is going to say, “people are stealing my votes—wah!”  We know what Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are going to say and although I admit it is rather funny watching them slug it out, it has become fatiguing.  I hope one day the federal government enacts some sort of law that says the campaign season can last for SIX months only and after that, let us move on with life.
This is what we are going to do today, we are going to finish the Moody Blues albums as we planned to do last weekend and then I will bid you all farewell for this time around and then tomorrow, Vicky Mazarotti will enter the back door to do her stint.  That is, if all goes well.  Here we go:

In 2007, another great album by the Moody Blues came out, the famed BBC recordings, “Live at the BBC 1967-1971,” a great album if ever there was one.  Every British band, no matter how big or how small, spent time in the studios of the BBC because that is one of the awesome things of life in Great Britain, the fact that the government broadcasting system presented the music of all their bands live on air for the fans to enjoy.  We hope you will seek this CD out by using the link we provide you here so you can redirect your browser to Amazon.com so you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you.

In 2007, another compilation CD by the Moody Blues hit record store shelves (and online ones, too) containing 54 tunes from throughout the length of the band’s career (with the exception of the first one).  The album’s name is “Collected” and it is a great way for one to introduce the music of this historic British band to one’s ears.  We hope that you will seek this CD out by using our link so you can go to Amazon.com and pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you, your ears, and your pocketbook so please, go there now and get it.

In 2008, the Moody Blues released a three-CD retrospective entitled, “Playlist Plus.”  As with the previous offering, the songs included on this CD span the career of the group with the exception of their first CD, one that always seems to be missing in action, so to speak.  We hope that you will seek this CD out by using our link to redirect your browser to Amazon.com—the largest online marketplace in the history of the world.  Please, use our link to go there now so you can get it in time for Kwanzaa and maybe even Christmas, provided Amazon has drones operating in your area.  You can also get the digital version of the album, which means you can get it now—what is better than that?

In 2008, the Moody Blues released a great live show from the band’s heyday, “The Moody Blues Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970.”  This is the time in which, the Moody Blues were among the top live acts, performing in front of 600,000 people such as what they did here on this CD, finally released for avid fans to own.  Did you know that the Moody Blues had the opportunity to perform at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair but performed in Paris thinking that the iconic rock festival of festivals would ‘not be as big as it was?’  Quite a few bands elected not to go to that festival but ended up playing at ones such as the one that electrified all of Europe.  This album is a definite must-own and that is WHY we urge all of you to seek the CD out in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you and your pocketbook.  Use our link to redirect your web browser to the GREATEST online marketplace in the world, Amazon.com!  Thank you and God bless from the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day!

In 2011, the Moody Blues released yet another compilation CD, this one entitled, “Icon.”  Most of the other British rock bands have released similar collections much to the delight of their fans, which is why we here at the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day urge you to take the link we provide you here.  You do this so you can redirect your browser to Amazon.com where you can pick this amazing 2-CD package up at the amazing price of $11.99 or less.  Why not avail yourself of this great offer by going there now and snapping it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you, your pocketbook, and your ears?  You will be so glad you did.  Thank you.

We back track today to two albums Ray Thomas of the Moody Blues—vocalist, flautist, and other horns—released in 2011 and which is entitled, “The Trouble with Memories.”  For fans of the Moody Blues and its individual components, Ray was a foundational building block for the band.  He helped write songs, wrote his own, and was one of its four rock-solid pillars for decades until he found it was time to go into semi-retirement.  We love this CD and we know that you will, too, so please seek this marvelous album out at Amazon.com by using the handy link we have provided you here.  You will enjoy this amazing collection as it is beyond description.  Thank you for patronizing the two blogs and do not forget: Valentine’s Day is coming soon so if you have a Ray Thomas or Moody Blues fan in your life, you need to buy this CD today.

The Moody Blues released yet compilation CD, “Timeless Flight” in 2013 and this one is available in a TWO-CD set or a FOUR-CD Box Set.  This collection unlike all of the earlier ones is comprehensive and goes from 1967 right up to NOW.  This is why this CD package in either the two- or four-CD set is worth buying—especially for the FIRST TIME BUYER or the long-time fan—you will definitely want this set.  The link we have for you today is for the FOUR-CD set, the comprehensive one while the next one will be the link for the sampler set.  Please, use our link to redirect your browser to Amazon.com where you can pick this CD set up NOW in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for YOU—you will be glad you did.

The CD we have for you today by the Moody Blues is the “Timeless Flight Sampler” (2013) sampler, the two-CD set, one that contains the highlights, you know, the abbreviated collection of the box set with four discs.  However you choose to own this magnificent collection is up to you, which is why we have the link for the shorter set for you today while a week ago, we gave you the link for the FOUR-CD Box Set.  Please, use our link to redirect your browser to Amazon.com where you can pick this one up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you can thank us later for alerting you to all of the wonderful CDs by this British band and its individual members.

Today, we share a relatively new CD by Moody Blues guitarist, Justin Hayward, one the singer-songwriter-guitarist recorded and released in 2013.  “Spirits of the Western Sky,” is a well-made album, one that features a lengthy number of songs that deal with the romanticism of his heart and the vagaries of living in modern times.  Besides the songs, he wrote for the album, there are also one or two surprises among the 15 tunes on this disc, which is why you need to use our link to go to Amazon.com.  Once there, check it out in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will be glad you did.  Thank you for your patronage.

As with all bands with lengthy careers, the Moody Blues left their original home at Decca and went to Polydor where they remained from 1986 to 1992.  The box set we have for you today, “The Polydor Years,” features six discs of material and two DVD discs, too.  One finds all of the music the band recorded during this time contained within this magnificent set plus an unreleased live performance as well as some of the famed Red Rocks shows the band did while on tour in the 1980s.  If you want to get in on the ground floor of the second part of this amazing band’s heavenly career, this is a great introduction for fans new and old.  Please, use our link to redirect your browser to Amazon.com where you can find it in the format, the condition, and the price that rocks your socks—you will be glad you did.  Thank you for your patronage.

The album we have for you today is the next one by Justin Hayward, “Spirits Live at the Buckhead Theater, Atlanta,” (2014).  This is an album by all accounts that ranks among the best modern albums by either the Moody Blues or Justin Hayward in—well—years.  One has to wonder why the power of the music and the strength of Hayward’s vocals have not appeared within the past 10-15 years when the band has sort of been drifting around musically.  This album is fine, one that we highly promote, and hope that you will check out so please--use the link we have for you here so you can go directly to Amazon.com.  Once there, you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will be so glad you did.

The album we have for you today by the Moody Blues is for completists ONLY: “True Story,” (2015) is an album that some modern fans fail to see as a ‘Moody Blues album.’  Fans are of this opinion in that it is music from the first incarnation featuring Denny Laine and Clint Warwick, although the cover shows the lineup with which most of us are familiar: Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder, Graeme Edge, and Ray Thomas.  The sound is poor, appearing that the producers of the album sought to make some quick money and put it out as a compilation of ‘modern Moody Blues music.’  This is for discerning ears ONLY.  Use our link to go to Amazon.com so you can see it in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for YOU.

The next album by John Lodge came out in 2015 shortly before he turned 70 years old.  “10,000 Light Years Ago,” (2015) is a welcome addition to the ongoing Moody Blues & Family cycle as the veteran bassist and vocalist still has some music left in him.  Although the album is not a lengthy one, each tune is unblemished gem, music that demands repeated hearings both at home and in the car and hell, even on the job.  While other people listen to Maroon 5 and other modern day crap, you need to use our link to redirect your browser, to Amazon.com so you can snap this CD up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will be glad you did.

The album we have for you today is sort of a ‘repeat’ of one we shared with you previously from the Moody Blues, “True Story,” only in a different form and with a different name: “Time is on my side” (2015).  If you want to cull among originalist material, then this is an album you should check out for your own personal interest and then again and if not, we understand that, too.  All we can say is at this stage in the careers of musicians who have been performing since the early 1960s, the vaults are full of all sorts of material, and the caretakers of these vaults want to make some money.  Check it out at Amazon.com so you can get it in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for YOU—you will be glad you did.

The final album we have for you today is a compilation of the crème de la crème of the halcyon days of the Moody Blues—“Nights in White Satin Collection” (2012).  While this contains quite a bit of material spread out over the decades, we think you will find this enjoyable and if you have not heard the music before, then this is a great way to get into this amazing music.  If not, well, what are you waiting for, use our link to go to Amazon.com and pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will be glad you did.
No one ever thought we would feel this way but this election has made everyone sick, it has to be one of the worst in history.  Many who liked Donald Trump in the beginning now despise his name while many who thought Bernie would fade find amazement at his strength and resilience.  Gosh, I wish I had half the energy that old man has, he must be on a vibe that one hopes will not burn out anytime soon.  It is fun watching him make Hillary look like the crook she is.
Thank you, my friends!

MORE TO COME FROM THE ROLLING STONES

SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2016
In 1972, the Rolling Stones put out their next studio album, a two-LP set, their first studio album of some of the best music ever yet recorded by the band.  “Exile on Main Street” is an amazing album, unfortunately, the critics panned the band for its use of a horn section and its new style of music, music we love.  The two singles from this album, “Tumblin’ Dice” and “Happy” (the latter sung by Keith Richards) were massive hits but were never enough for their critics.  You have to remember: the Beatles were GONE and the Stones were unique in that they were the existing GREATEST BAND IN ROCK-AND-ROLL.  That is not to diminish the Who, the Kinks, and some of the others who remained but now, only the Faces were their nearest competition (and competition they were).  We know you will love this CD and we urge you to seek it out at Amazon.com so you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you.
