WINTER SESSION 2015-16

BLOGPOST #1,905-A AT THE AICP-END

Our post for today features more Jefferson Airplane Albums
Oildale, CA, 02-08-2016 Monday: Today is a bonus post because yesterday was the Super Bowl and your host for today, Chef Cheryl La Tigre, might be somewhat late in getting up her first post for today.  Therefore, I got extended duty by one more day so I can continue presenting additional Jefferson Airplane albums from the heyday of rock-and-roll.
Many modern-day rockers want to ‘live the life’ but have little to no idea as to how great things were when Swiss chemists captured the ‘essence’ of the rye ergot fungus that led to the development of LSD-25.  Prior to October 06, 1966, LSD was legal in the Golden State and man, everyone was tripping out as though there was no tomorrow and for some, there was not.
The amazing thing about the drug is that one drop on a sugar cube or a drop on a piece of blotter paper was enough to send on boy voyage on a 12-18-hour trip where one could hear colors, smell sounds, hear voices in clouds, see shapes on the wall in colors the eyes heretofore could not detect.
Stronger hallucinogens such as STP could send one on a four-day trip from which they might come back with fried brains and sizzling skin.  Many could not handle it and leaped out of speeding cars or from the tops of skyscrapers because they thought they could fly.  Sadly, they could not.
What I am saying though is the whole psychedelic culture gave us music from the Jefferson Airplane to the Beatles to the Rolling Stones to the Grateful Dead and many, many more.  This is WHY we celebrated the music of the acid bands mostly from Fleetwood Mac and Savoy Brown; from that point on, we ran the gamut of the most famous of all of them.
Here we go MORE Jefferson Airplane:
Jefferson Airplane—“Flight Log 1966-1976”
We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco bands of all time, the Jefferson Airplane! The band’s fourteenth album, “Flight Log 1966-1976,” hit record store shelves in 1974 and featured “B” sides from singles and songs removed from albums. On this CD, you find the rare gems from the first couple of albums that did not make on them as well as classic tunes like “Mexico” and “Have you seen the Saucers?” The Airplane recorded so many classic hits that we cannot find enough blog space in which, to present them all so please, check out this album by using our link to go to Amazon.com and nabbing it in the price, the format, and the condition that is right for you.  We love this CD and highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the era’s music.
Jefferson Airplane—“2400 Fulton Street”
We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco band of all time, the Jefferson Airplane!  The band’s fifteenth album, “2400 Fulton Street,” hit record store shelves in 1987 and was a two-LP set featuring a history of the band with some rare cuts, outtakes, even a television commercial for Levi’s jeans.  It also had a booklet and was the first comprehensive retrospective look at the band that was the San Francisco Acid Rock Sound, truly amazing to say the least!  The title comes from the house the band lived in during its halcyon days in the Haight-Ashbury District of the city by the bay, which means this album has all of the magic of the “Summer of Love” and more!  We urge you to visit the Amazon.com Website so you can pick it up and teleport yourself back to the good old days when everything was about love, ending the war in Vietnam and smoking weed.
The Jefferson Airplane—“Jefferson Airplane” (Reunion)
We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco band of all time, the Jefferson Airplane!  The band’s sixteenth album, “Jefferson Airplane,” hit record store shelves in 1989 and found the lineup everybody considers the “original” one reunited—with the exception of drummer Spencer Dryden.  Due to bad blood between him and founding member, Paul Kantner, the latter was able to keep him out bringing in drummer Prairie Prince to replace him.  Still, we had Grace Slick, Jorma Kaukonen, Marty Balin, and Jack Casady here, which is reason enough to seek this CD out at Amazon.com.   As the band had not played together for more than a decade, it was pretty good but lacked the sound of the early days.  Still, we urge you to visit the Amazon.com Website so you can pick it up and teleport yourself back to the good old days when everything was about love, ending the war in Vietnam, dropping acid (and other psychedelics) and smoking weed, which now anyone can get with a flipping medical card.
The Jefferson Airplane—“The Woodstock Experience”
We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco band of all time, the Jefferson Airplane!  The band’s seventeenth album, “The Woodstock Experience,” hit record store shelves in 2009 and was a pairing of the band’s “Volunteers” CD with their entire Woodstock concert set in 1969.  Now, we will admit that we did not put these in the order that we should but tried to keep the JA albums together and then present the Jefferson Starship following the original band.  We urge you to visit the Amazon.com Website so you can pick it up and you will enjoy the concert, as it was sort of the final go-round of the ‘original’ lineup, as towards the end of 1969 following the ill-fated Altamont Speedway Festival with the Rolling Stones, both Marty Balin and Spencer Dryden would leave the band.  However, Grace Slick and Paul Kantner as well as Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady would continue with drummer Joey Covington and violinist Papa John Creech.  Please, seek this CD out by going to Amazon.com and getting it there in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will be glad you did.
Jefferson Airplane—“Live at the Fillmore East”
We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco band of all time, the Jefferson Airplane!  The band’s eighteenth album, “Live at the Fillmore East,” hit record store shelves in 2009 and was yet another live recording the curators of the vault released for the fans’ listening enjoyment.  Now, we will admit that we did not put these in the order that we should but tried to keep the JA albums together and then present the Jefferson Starship following the original band.  Here, we have the classic lineup of Grace Slick (vocals), Paul Kantner (rhythm guitar/vocals), Jack Casady (bass), Marty Balin (vocals), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar/vocals), and Spencer Dryden (drums).  We urge you to visit the Amazon.com Website so you can pick it up at the price that is perfect for YOU.
Jefferson Airplane—“Sweeping up the Spotlight—Live at the Fillmore East 1969”
We continue offering CDs today by the greatest San Francisco band of all time, the Jefferson Airplane!  The band’s nineteenth album, “Sweeping up the Spotlight—live at the Fillmore East, 1969,” hit record store shelves in 2007 and was still another live recording the vault curator released for the fans’ listening enjoyment.  Now, we will admit that we did not put these in the order that we should but tried to keep the JA albums together and then present the Jefferson Starship following the original band.  When this album underwent recording, the Airplane had been on the road for most of the year, including a stop at the famous Woodstock Art and Music Festival at Yasgur’s Farm.  The classic lineup is on this album but soon changes would be in the offing.  This is a GREAT recording, however, and we urge everyone to get it.  Please, visit the Amazon.com Website so you can pick it up at the price, the condition, and the format, that is perfect for YOU.
I will not be back until later in the year so I will bid you all farewell…
We have had a good run this time around, starting last fall to do the winter edition into the early months of this year.  Chef Cheryl La Tigre will be in for a post today and throughout the rest of the week and then the rotation will continue on throughout the year, as this is an Election Year and perhaps one of the most important of all time.  Friends, keep the faith, look for God in everything you do, fight against jihad, and God bless both the United States and the nation of Israel.  See you soon.
Thank you,
Moses Scharbug III
