Election Politics have surpassed the NFL as the Nation’s New Favorite Sport thanks to the Rough-and-Tumble-Style of Politics we now practice in the Nation and today is a BIG Day for BOTH Parties

WINTER SESSION 2015-16

BLOGPOST #1,917 AT THE AICP-END

Today is Caucus Day in Nevada for the Dems and Primary Day for the GOP in South Carolina

Kihei, HI, 02-20-2016 Saturday: Today is caucus day for the Democrats in Nevada while the Republicans hold their primary in South Carolina today.  Why the parties cannot hold them on the same day is beyond me but as Stinkbug tends to say, “It is what it is, Itzi.”
I think both events are going to blow the minds of campaign watchers because many people once thought they knew who would win both whereas now, the results are up for grabs.
I think Donald Trump is beginning to slip a little bit—even though polls show he is going to win in double digits—all because of his incessant attacks on Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush.  I have to say that the bombastic billionaire could be wearing thin on numerous Republicans in the Palmetto State because I tend to believe what I hear that the South loves the Bushes.
Why does South Carolina ‘love the Bushes?’
Why the South would love the Bushes is beyond me because launching the war in Iraq has to rank as one of the unmitigated political and military disasters of ALL time.  It was a war that made more sense had we gone all the way back in 1991 when the U.S.-led coalition of the willing drove Saddam Hussein’s beleaguered military forces out of Kuwait and back across the frontier separating the two countries.
Who does not vividly recall the ‘Highway of Death,’ the road leading north from Kuwait and toward Basra, the big Iraqi city on the other side of the dividing line?  Our warplanes pounded the retreating Iraqis, burdened by the loot they stole from their self-proclaimed ‘29th province,’ a buggering that went unchecked until a ceasefire went into effect that stopped further carnage from occurring.
Some U.S. military leaders wanted to go all the way
At the time, there was a great deal of consternation over stopping the rout as the combined military units could have swept all before them and gone straight to Baghdad and strung the dictator up like a sacrificial goat.
I remember being young and listening to the news reports and apparently Daddy Bush decided that it might be better just to give the dictator an ass whooping he would never forget rather than finish the job so we would not have to set out to do it again.
The reason we did this (or so I believe) is that we wanted to use an emasculated Saddam to keep the Iranians in check who were a far worse enemy than was Saddam.
After all, shortly before invading Kuwait, Saddam fought an eight-year war with neighboring Iran who was attempting to export its Islamic revolution into the Shia population of Iraq to its west.  Saddam did not want to lose power to the Iranians and so invaded them albeit disastrously in the early 1980s.
Daddy Bush gave Saddam a reprieve when he stopped the war in 1991
In stopping the massacre on the ‘Highway of Death,’ we gave Saddam the time he needed to whip his people into a frenzy of anti-Americanism and to build his military forces to the point where they possibly could contest another U.S.-led assault on their country.
It seems to me that Saddam had full knowledge that some future American president would come after him again at some point and lo and behold, the dictator was indeed correct—Son of Bush came.
Little did Bush know that invading Iraq on the cheap was going to ALMOST cost the United States and the ‘coalition of the Unwilling’ and that is WHY we Democrats spent the next 5-6 years doing our best to stop the Napoleonic dude so he would not start yet another war.
Marco Rubio thinks he is SO slick
Anyhow, I hope the GOP in South Carolina does not vote for Jeb out of basic principles although we Democrats would love to run against HIM or that little lolo first term senator, Marco Rubio.
Marco thinks he is so slick, that I agree with Chef Cheryl that the loser is indeed a ‘one-trick Cuban pony.’  The fact that he is not going to seek another term in the Senate tells me that when we DESTROY him in the General Election should he get that far, we will not have to face him again.  A loser is a loser and the American people simply do not LOVE losers with a capital ‘L.’
Who does not like playing “Whack-a-Bush?”
While I would love to see Jeb go DOWN sooner rather than later, facing him in the General Election would be a piece of coconut cake.
There is a gigantic amount of ‘Bush fatigue’ going around and now that both his mama, Barbara Bush, and brother, George W. Bush, are out there campaigning for him, it opens the doors to Democrats bringing up all of their past failures.
It allows us to bash them over the head once again with the same club no less, something we simply enjoy doing because if they want to play ‘Whack-a-Bush,’ we will gladly engage them in the game.  Democrats LOVE the game, people, and we could play it all day long, folks without running out of steam.
How about you—would YOU like to play the game—maybe I should design and patent such a game, I think it would be a big seller!
Donald Trump pummels each potential GOP nominee to the point they will be easy pickings come November
We have to thank Donald Trump—the secret weapon of the Democrat Party—because he is weakening the candidates the Democrats will face in November while giving us all sorts of ammo for whoever survives his beatings.
The way I see it, each opposing candidate of Donald Trump has his face on a punching bag and the crazed billionaire is out there punching holes through the bag.  He can stand there doing jab after jab until the bag breaks its chain and tumbles to the floor, holes punched through each candidate.
Trump is doing the setup work and Bernie or Hillary will complete it on November 08, 2016.  Go, Donald, go!
Election politics have surpassed the NFL as the nation’s number one sport
We shall see who wins tomorrow, that is for sure, I think it will be interesting to see.  I love a rough-and-tumble political process and must agree with some of my colleagues that elections now have surpassed the NFL as one of the world’s top sports.
Elections in America are so psychotic that here and nowhere else you will find billionaires going after the pope and socialists attacking middle-of-the-road decrepit Democrats.  I think this is perhaps one of the most exciting times in politics I can recall and I urge everyone to join in the fun, share your thoughts, ideas, and comments and we will debate them back and forth.
God bless, I will see all of you tomorrow for my final day of this go-round.  Lots of love, people, and aloha, folks—we will discuss election results tomorrow—bye.
Thank you!

  1. Itzi shares her thoughts on the two political races going on today, one in South Carolina for the GOP and another in Nevada for the Democrats. Currently, we see Hillary with a lead in Nevada but we certainly hope that Bernie is going to beat her there because it would be good if she has more competition rather than less. Besides, numerous young Latino Democrats favor Bernie because the old codger offers them greater opportunities rather than the same old, same old offered by Hillary Clinton. Let us see what happens today in both states because they will set us on a path towards November. / posted by Chef Elvin C.
