WINTER SESSION 2015-16

BLOGPOST #1,884 AT THE AICP-END

We conclude last Thursday night’s GOP Main Stage Debate today
Oildale, CA, 01-18-2016 Monday: We return for the final discussion of the GOP main stage debate from last Thursday night, January 14, 2016, as tomorrow we will commence discussing last night’s Democrat debate.  I find it funny that numerous leftwing pundits, talking heads, and otherwise dim bulbs criticize the civility shown by the moderators ever since we watched the third GOP debate where the moderators actually performed the task given them.
Anyone who watched the first three debates recalls that the FOX News Channel, then CNN, and I believe, CNBC remembers that the moderators did their best to tear down certain candidates while attempting to help others.  I do not forgive Megyn Kelly for doing her best in the very first debate and with the very first question to force Donald Trump out of the race by demanding he pledge to support the ‘nominee.’
Throughout the rest of the night, she kept after the billionaire and all one can think is that as with the CNN and CNBC boneheads, she, too, underwent enlistment by forces as yet unknown to take down Donald Trump.
However, the following debates went the way debates should go, moderators asking legitimate and honest questions—not gotcha ones but actual questions and then allowing the candidates to debate them back and forth in the same way that moderators of Democrat debates help their candidates.
Maria Bartiromo asked the TWENTY-FIRST Question of the night
The TWENTY-FIRST question of the night came from Maria Bartiromo and with Lindsey Graham, senator from South Carolina sitting in the audience; she asked Dr. Ben Carson if he agreed with Senator Graham’s desire of committing 20,000 ground troops to Syria was the right thing to do?
Dr. Carson answered that there are better ways in which to deal with ISIS such as removing the restraints on the military as they now stand and allowing them to hit multitudes of targets, whether they be civilian drivers moving oil to unscrupulous nearby buyers or hitting the terrorist masterminds as they commune together in Raqqa, the capital of ISIS.
From the sound of the audience, it sounded if the observers agreed with the good doctor and he did himself well; sometimes, I get the impression they want to knock him out so they can then pursue Senator Cruz and Mr. Trump and end up with some schmutz such as Rubio, Kasich, Bush, or Christie.
Senator Marco Rubio received the TWENTY-SECOND Question of the night:
Senator Marco Rubio got the TWENTY-SECOND question of the evening as to whether or not, he agrees with America’s Sunni allies—the king of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, Jordan, Egypt, etc.—if going ‘to town’ on ISIS, especially if our Arab allies would pay for it—is the thing to do.
What bothers me about Rubio is the adeptness of his tongue and smooth-talking abilities as he then did what he normally does and that is accelerate in his speech, something I find irritating because it is reminiscent of Dr. Mark Lamont Hill.  Those of you who know the racist doctor is that he runs over his opponents whenever he appears on TV.
It is as though the speaker covers up their ignorance or stupidity by voicing the answer quickly so listeners hear a bunch of crap but it sounds good with which, the speaker gives the answer.  Senator Rubio, in the same manner as does Dr. Hill, affirmed that he would do everything in his power to destroy ISIS and that he would permit NO Syrian refugees from entering the United States.
He furthermore said that Bashar al-Assad needs to leave office and that if Hillary Clinton wins the White House there would be fewer democracies in the world and more war, something we must prevent at all costs.
Maria Bartiromo asked the TWENTY-THIRD question of the night of Donald Trump
Maria Bartiromo directed the twenty-third question to business giant, Donald Trump by informing him that his comments on ‘banning Muslims stirred up a lot of people; would you like to change your stance now?’  Mr. Trump responded with a one-word answer: “NO.”  When pressed to divulge more, he explained his reasons once again, that ‘we need to know who these people are.’
At this point, Jeb who was straining at the bit in his mouth felt obligated to enter the fray by telling Donald Trump, ‘what a disaster it would be to deny Muslims entry into the United States.  Oh, woe, what about our friends, allies, family of our friends and allies, oh, Donald, it would be such a disaster.’
Good Lord, Jeb, are you as stupid as Saturday Night Live depicts you and believe me; they do a good job of it?
Trump does not expect a permanent ban on Muslims coming to the U.S. However, what we need to do is to win the war and stamp out radical Islam.  Until that point, we cannot continue permitting them to enter the nation and stay here; Jeb, you are a schmo.
The TWENTY-FOURTH question concerned Muslims as well
The TWENTY-FOURTH question continued with the Muslim issue with Ms. Bartiromo pointing out the number of Muslims entering the United States every year and being allowed to remain here.
According to Bartiromo, the PEW researchers say 100,000 Muslims enter the country every year, how would you deal/change this policy, Governor Kasich?  The Ohioan pointed out that we cannot ‘prevent Muslims from coming here but we can pause the Syrian refugees as that makes sense.  He went on to say that, we need Muslim allies in the same way we had them in the Gulf War of 1991.
Governor Christie added his two-cents worth by saying we need to follow what FBI Director Comey says on the topic and that is, we cannot let them in because the government cannot VET the ‘refugees.’
Senator Cruz feels that we need to destroy ISIS and that the United States must also prevent Westerners who have gone to fight in Syria with the terror group from returning home.  This, of course, drove Jeb Bush into the fray once more and he demanded, ‘are we going to ban Muslims from India, from here, or from there?’  Jeb, please, just shut the hell up and go home.
Neil Cavuto asked the TWENTY-FIFTH Question of the evening
Neil Cavuto asked the TWENTY-FIFTH question of the night of Donald Trump and it concerned putting tariffs onto Chinese goods and how that would hurt us; do you still intend to do this Mr. Trump?’
Mr. Trump explained his reasons for wanting to do this and they were indeed sound.  According to him, we lose ‘$500-550 billion dollars every year to China because they devaluate their currency, which makes it more difficult for the United States to compete on an equal footing.
Governor Kasich agreed that it made sense noting ‘what do we tell our blue-collar workers when other governments violate trade agreements but we hold to them; it makes no sense.’
Other candidates said what they felt had to be said and then Jeb chimed in with ‘we need a steady hand on the presidency and only he can do that.’  Thank you, Jeb, for your opinion—now please, shut the hell up--again.
Ms. Bartiromo got off the TWENTY-SIXTH Question of the evening
The TWENTY-SIXTH question of the night came from Ms. Bartiromo and concerned deficit spending as well as fleshing out the preceding question.
I had heard enough by this time and then the TWENTY-SEVENTH question of the night saw Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz engaged in battle over ‘who wants VAT tax or does not want VAT?’  The battle raged back and forth between the senators, as it became clear that Senator Rubio truly wants to maul Senator Cruz, as though there is a deep personal animosity raging between them.
Governor Chris Christie entered the fray and jumped onto Senator Rubio, too, determined to smack him down. Thankfully, the network took another commercial break and we were able to leave this one behind us.
The Final Questions of the Evening finally appeared
The final questions of the evening had to do with what Donald Trump would do with his businesses, how to repair the damage done to the nation’s law enforcement agencies that Obama has caused them.
Illegal immigration and green cards reappeared as did Marco Rubio and his support of the Gang of 8 immigration bill that opens the doors to illegal aliens.
Jeb got in a great shot calling BOTH Senators Rubio and Cruz ‘backbenchers,’ which harkens back to Roman Senate times, perhaps his best shot yet.  Unfortunately for Jeb and NOT for the rest of us, it appears that once the voting starts in Iowa and in New Hampshire, Jeb will have blown his wad of cash and will drop out of the race along with another 4-5 struggling candidates.
At that point, I would love to see the race thinned out and then get down to moving toward the general campaign.   Tomorrow, we will begin with the Democrat debate because I feel I have bored you much too long with this stellar yet tiresome engagement between WAY TOO MANY CANDIDATES.
There should be a law as to how many people can compete for the presidential nomination of any party because going with 19 as with what we began this campaign is just too damned many people.
It is unfair to serious candidates because it throws in schmutzes who should not have a second or third shot.  The times are not the same as once they were when William Jennings Bryan could run for and receive the nomination FOUR flipping times.  Now, you lose 1-2 preceding presidential elections, you need to become an elder statesperson and allow OTHERS to have the honor of competing for president.
In closing, I want to say that the Democrat debate I watched last night was probably their best yet, especially in that BOTH Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders have taken the gloves off and now lack the fear that they did in their first meeting.
Still, the moderators, Lester Holt and Andrea Mitchell, fail to give Governor O’Malley enough questions or time to answer the few that he does get because his views look towards the future while Clinton and Sanders—no matter how much they attempt to give the viewer the impression that they do not—look towards the past.  Granted, that is not true in everything but we will discuss their debate tomorrow, I hope you will not mind we finish the GOP debate today.
See you tomorrow.
Thank you,

MONDAY, JANUARY 18, 2016
Jim Capaldi released his next album in 1983, “Fierce Heart,” an album very reminiscent of Traffic as Steve Winwood played on several of the songs.  Both Capaldi and Winwood have a close relationship and many times accompany one another on their musical endeavors and this one is no different. While some critics say it sounds ‘too commercial,’ it was a success for Capaldi whose solo career is more a cult following than a widespread one.  Both musicians played most of the instruments with an occasional guest appearance by others of their musical circles.  Capaldi dedicated the album to Rebop Kwaku Baah, the percussionist with Traffic for several albums who passed away earlier in the year.  This CD is costly, however, starting at about $45 at Amazon.com but is available in LP and cassette form for less.  Thank you for your patronage.

  1. As anyone who follows our blog knows, we tend to discuss things in detail and with the 2016 Election’s opening caucus in Iowa, primary in New Hampshire, and soon, South Carolina, people are gearing up for a wild and raucous year, to be sure. We cover the debates the best we can and the last GOP debate has given us several days’ worth of discussing material, which Moses concludes today. Tomorrow, he will begin doing the Democrat debate, which provided us a fair amount of material, too, so please, join us and check it out, you, will be glad you did. We also would like to make note that today is Dr. Martin Luther King’s Day and we want to thank him for the amazing strides he made on bringing Americans of ALL colors together so we could unite the nation. We recognize there are many out there who make their living from reestablishing the fractional fabric that nearly destroyed the nation, schmutzes such as Al Sharpton and Barack Obama, but we can move beyond their devious aims by electing a GREAT president later this year. Thank you, Dr. King, for all you have done for the United States of America, we sorely miss you. Thank you. / Posted by Chef Charles Smithenstein of the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, posted @ 11:14 A.M. PST
