WINTER SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,858 AT THE AICP-END

We continue with discussion on last Saturday’s Democrat debate
Oildale, CA, 12-23-2015 Wednesday: We pick up where we left off yesterday and the topic was the Democrat debate on Saturday night.  After discussing Muslim-Americans, jihadists, and the such, the subject of profiling came up and Bernie grabbed it and returned to Donald Trump’s statements on Mexicans being rapists and Muslims being terrorists and somehow Donald Trump ‘thinks low wages is better for Americans.’  He wants to make an America that ‘works for all of us and not just the rich.’  For the wily old man, it always is ‘economics’ and ‘global warming/climate change,’ never the fact that people in key parts of the world hate our guts and want to do us harm.  What?
Bernie Sanders always returns to attacking the rich
Sadly, Governor O’Malley attempted to insert himself into this debate and Martha Raddatz shut him out because he butted in earlier and was clearly going to pay the price for it.  One has to wonder, does Debbie Wasserman-Schultz want to knock the former Maryland governor out of the running—he clearly seems to have the most fire blazing in his belly.  Hillary, however, receives beaucoup time to answer questions and to share her feelings.  She wants to work with tech companies so we can intrude on suspected terrorists here in the country while Governor O’Malley finally got a chance to say that he thinks we must bring people together around the table so we can solve problems together in ‘Kumbaya style.’
The issue of Syrian ‘refugees’ came up during the debate…
The next question that came up was the subject of Syrian refugees coming into the country.  The governor of New Hampshire—Maggie Hassan—was in the crowd and has suggested we should put it on hold.  Hillary, however, discussed the ‘values and traditions that made America great’ and ‘how we cannot turn our backs to these poor people, widows, orphans, seniors, entering our country.’  In other words, let them all in after ‘vetting them over 12-24 months.’  Governor O’Malley proclaimed he was among the first to say we need to bring in 65,000 Syrian ‘refugees’ (as well as Chaldean Christians—which is good) because it is the ‘right thing to do’ and ‘to act like the great nation that we are.’  Bernie Sanders tried to add his piece but Martha Raddatz shut him down, reminding he had agreed to the ‘rules.’
Martha Raddatz had to remind Bernie Sanders that he ‘agreed to the rules’
The question Bernie did get was WHY he will not support sending U.S. troops to fight ISIS even though the old independent voted to send U.S. troops to Afghanistan following September 11, 2001.  As he says, the war against ISIS is a ‘war for the soul of Islam’ and that we must push our Arab allies to go to war against those threatening them.  He drew some applause for this because he wants to make our country part of a coalition at best while arming and supporting Arab nations in the region to do the fighting instead of the United States.  Hillary, on the other hand, says that ‘ISIS wants American troops back on the ground’ as it is yet another ‘recruiting tool’ for the jihadists, the ones President Obama says are un-Islamic.
Some feel that U.S. troops on the ground in the Middle East recruits terrorists to ISIS
Martha Raddatz then asked Hillary if in sending small forces such as special operators into Iraq and Syria led to a larger war a la Vietnam, ‘would she still feel that way?’  Hillary accentuated the fact that she wants to build ‘coalitions,’ something she has done before and that if handled correctly by her, it can and will work.  Governor O’Malley wants to improve our military as well as our intelligence capabilities so we can fight against this ‘genocidal threat,’ one created by ‘our blunders.’  He wants us to come up with alliances between various nations akin to what we have seen in both Africa and in Latin America instead of us going it alone all of the time.  Unfortunately, as time has progressed in this final debate of the year, it seems that Hillary wants to deflect and to hold off the more active former governor and her older opponent from Vermont than to actually cross swords.
Senator Sanders reminded Hillary that she supported ‘regime change’
Senator Sanders then brought up the fact that as a senator, Hillary was pro-regime change (Saddam Hussein, Moammar Gaddafi, and Bashar al-Assad) but what happens the day following said regime change is far more important than booting out dictators.  Hillary and Bernie went back and forth on the topic while poor Governor O’Malley languished on the sidelines; it sure seems that HE is the one DNC Chairperson Debbie Wasserman-Schultz fears the most.  Someone needs to help him increase his numbers because he offers a completely different viewpoint and outlook in combatting the problems facing us such as dealing with ISIS and forming alliances with which to do it.
It seemed to the viewing party that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz wants Hillary Clinton to win—why?
When Governor O’Malley got his chance, he suggests the fact that we need to ‘leave the Cold War behind us’ and that ‘we cannot continue to foster regime change around the world.’  He went on to say that ‘it is not our job to determine when dictators need to go’ but to use modern schools of thought with which, to deal with things in modern ways and not from viewpoints created back in the 1950s.  Hillary smacked him down, which is what she does so well but it should be clear that among the three, ONLY Governor O’Malley looks to the future while Senator Sanders and Madam Clinton continue to view the past for the answers for today.  Then, the battle went round-and-round-and-round.  What a night.
Attacking the Wealthy always seems to work…
As the evening progressed, it went into attacking the billionaires, the wealthy, and how corporate America loved Hillary Clinton the LAST time around whereas now, she is on the bandwagon of helping the downtrodden Americans while forcing the rich to pay more than their fair share—will she pay hers?  Bernie Sanders made it clear that HE will not be a friend of corporate America and that it will fear the day when he enters the White House.  Governor O’Malley smacked down Hillary on how she stood up for the BIG BANKS while he wants to break up the big banks and pass a modern-day Glass-Steagall Act.  Hillary’s answer: her infamous cackle.  We will pick up tomorrow with more.

  1. Moses continues pounding away at the recent Saturday night Democrat presidential debate and notes that it was phony at the time that Hillary proclaimed Donald Trump to be the number one recruitment tool of ISIS. I am sure the Da’ish trash seeks to see a Hillary Clinton in the White House because they know she will support—not fight—them and who knows; maybe they can put her in a burqa one day. Only time will tell, this is why we need to elect a strong Republican, not some stumbling, bumbling schmo such as Jeb Bush. Wouldn’t that be horrible if Jeb won the nomination? The Dems would love to see it until he went up against Hillary Clinton and then they would pound him into dust. Let us know what you think about this or any other topic you have on your mind. Thank you. / Posted by Chef Brian Carrick of the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day.
