PEARL HARBOR DAY—NEVER FORGET!

FALL SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,842 AT THE AICP-END

Today is the 74th Remembrance of the Attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941
Mukilteo, WA, 12-07-2015 Monday: Today is the 74th remembrance of the sneak attack launched by the Empire of Japan on the U.S. Naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, it is the next largest loss of life in a single attack on home soil.  We lost 2,403 people killed in the attack while suffering another 1,178 wounded.  Half of the dead or dying suffered entombment within the capsized USS Arizona. It was a devastating attack that damaged or sunk 18 warships or support craft as well as numerous warplanes.
The Pearl Harbor Memorial is a sobering sight
If you have ever visited Hawaii and gone to the Arizona Memorial, it is a sobering sight as the oil continues to rise to the surface of the water from the doomed ship lying below the harbor where the Imperial Japanese warplanes blasted it, rolling it over, until it came to rest in the mud below.  At the time, the Japanese did not realize that what they were committing was a ‘sneak attack,’ as they thought their ambassadors had presented a declaration of war to their counterparts in Washington, D.C. prior to the attack; however, it did not arrive until AFTER the attack.  Hence, the horrible anger and sense of betrayal many Americans alive at the time have kept in their hearts for all this time.
It was not pretty but we fought World War II the only way we could: using Total War
War is a horrible thing, there truly is no right way going about it yet the manner in which, we waged the Second World War was the most humane way to go even though the casualty rates were stupendous.  That is right—that is what I said, even with the dropping of the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which was the right thing to do, because it saved more lives than the two bombs took claimed in the massive mushroom cloud blasts.
Dropping the Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the right way to go
We firebombed the cities of Germany and we firebombed the cities of Japan, we did not start the war, the Axis powers did and the only way we fought back from the precipice of doom was to fight with every weapon we had available in the arsenal and with some that we did not have at the time.  The Axis powers did not understand what ‘surrender’ meant and we had to either drive them into extinction or pound them so damned hard that they would BEG for an end to the death and destruction.
The Nazis almost conquered all of Europe but not quite…
The German war machine swept through Poland in 1939 then turned around and swarmed across France in the spring of 1940 driving everything before it with lightning war or ‘blitzkrieg.’  Luckily, the British Expeditionary Force and many French and Belgian troops managed to escape from the beaches of Dunkirk across the English Channel to Great Britain thanks to a motley assortment of civilian and military craft that braved Stuka-JU87 dive-bombers and artillery fire to save the troops.  Along the coastline of fallen France, the German invasion force built by the day while the Luftwaffe bombed the RAF airfields along the eastern coast of the island nation and eventually its cities, seeking to force it to submit without having actually to invade the pummeled British Isles.
After giving up the Idea of invading Great Britain, the Germans and their Allies wheeled around and invaded the Soviet Union
The British fought back and did so for more than a year while the Germans decided to reverse course and head east for the invasion of the Soviet Union codenamed “Operation Barbarossa” in June 1941.  The Luftwaffe continued to lay waste to English cities while the main juggernaut burst out from Nazi-occupied Poland and from the territory of its Balkan allies, the Bulgarians, Hungarians, and Romanians.  The latter two nations sent troops as did Hitler’s ally, Benito Mussolini, who sent his troops to join the quest in stamping out communism and seizing ‘living space.’
The Onset of Winter in 1941 is the ONLY thing that saved the Soviets
Only as the winter came to the aid of the beleaguered Soviets in December 1941, were they able to launch a counter offensive and stop the Axis outside the gates of Moscow.  Meanwhile, the Empire of Japan swarmed out of their island nation and its possessions as do locusts and brought the United States—FINALLY—into the war on the side of the allies 74 years ago today.
The Tide began to turn in the winter of 1942-43
It was a hard slog but in 1942, with the German defeat at Stalingrad, the tide began to turn.  It also began to turn in the Pacific that same year with the Battle of Midway and the Battle for Guadalcanal as America began fighting back against the Japanese and better yet, winning the battles.  The war would go on in the West until May 1945 while in the Pacific it went on into August until Emperor Hirohito threw in the towel following the devastation of the second nuke on the city of Nagasaki.
We had to fight brutality with brutality but we did not start the war
Fighting brutality with brutality managed to win the war and in so doing, it saved numerous lives.  We know that had we actually had to invade Japan, we would have suffered a projected 1.5 million casualties among all Allied members hitting the beaches there.  We know, too, that had Hitler achieved the atomic bomb that he would have had no problem using it against the Allies but luckily, he did not because we beat him to it.
There is NO Doubt in my mind that had Adolf Hitler attained the Atomic Bomb first that he would not have used it…
Now, however, we fight a war against an unseen enemy that only surfaces when the time is ripe for an attack.  We know where they are in Syria and in Iraq, however, and only until the attacks in Paris on November, Friday 13, 2015 as well as the downing of the Russian airliners in the Sinai, did we begin taking the war to the heartland of the spurious Muslim caliphate, bombing the hell out of them.  We have the opportunity to take the war to the enemy and we really should because the whole reason for forming the United Nations after World War II was the “NEVER AGAIN” mentality.
What happened to the ‘Never Again’ Mentality that we found at the end of World War II?  Political Correctness has supplanted it…
Never again would we allow another ‘Hitler,’ a ‘Mussolini,’ or a ‘Tojo’ to drag the world into war.  So why are we not rallying the United Nations as well as the great powers of the world and crushing the ISIS trash? Because we concern ourselves with killing as few people as possible and destroying as little property as we can, which is a great way to lose a war to an enemy that recognizes NONE of the concerns with which, we hobble ourselves.
Climate Change is not the Number One threat of the world; radical Islam is…
The Western World, Russia, China, and others need to reclaim their scrotums and to fight wars the way we used to fight them or to throw in the towel and submit to the yoke of Islam, a terrible thought indeed.  Worse, they concern themselves over the sham science of Climate Change saying that if they ‘fix’ this, then they can STOP Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi—what is wrong with these people?
“Never again” is the mantra of why the nations of the world formed the world body so what is up now?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The World’s Nations must DESTROY the wannabe Caliphate…
I am mind-boggled as to why President Obama is so loath to go to war against ISIS and to end their evil machinations.  Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi needs to die so the world will not witness the establishment of a new Caliphate, one to which, the ‘grand bullshit Calief’ will call ALL Muslims to follow his cry.  This is what establishing a caliphate is about—it calls to all Muslims across the world to serve the Calief and to serve Allah, bringing all other phony religions to a swift demise.  Islam is akin to a flesh-eating virus, one that spreads through the population, infecting them with a zombie-like illness.  Islam is not compatible with the Western way of life and look at the downfall of Europe before our very eyes.
ISIS is committed to destroying the Western way of life
In closing, we will discuss this and other topics throughout the week and most likely will do our best to finish the Who bootleg album series.  This week is my final stint of the year and I hope that your presence and with your help, we can make it a memorable one.  There is far too much for us to do to allow our detractors to stop us from doing it, I may, if I have time, share some of the comments we leave at such blogs as ThinkProgress, a far leftwing loony tunes blog.  Thanks for joining me today, we will continue tomorrow and remember: light a candle for the dead, wounded, and the survivors of Pearl Harbor.  God bless them!
Thank you,

FLAG OF THE DAY: CHILE

MONDAY, DECEMBER 07, 2015

First, a moment of silence for the 73rd anniversary of the surprise attack on the U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor.  God bless the ones lost and the survivors as well.  Next, the next album we have for you is a collaborative effort between the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, and Andy Ellison, a movie soundtrack.  The name of the film and the album is “Here we go round the Mulberry Bush,” (1968), a comedy of sorts shot in the garish and psychedelic colors of the day featuring a British lad and his interactions with numerous lasses.  Once difficult to find, collectors now have easy access to it in CD or other form, which is why we have the link for you here.  Please go to Amazon.com where you can it however, you please it—you will be glad you did, it makes an amazing stocking stuffer or other holiday gift.  Thank you for your patronage and your support.

  1. We mark the 74th anniversary memorial of the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, although the Japanese believed at the time that their diplomats had handed over a formal declaration of war to their counterparts in Washington, D.C. Sadly, this was not the case and it led to a horrendous war in which, the Allies killed more of the Axis powers than they killed of ours. Nowadays, we seem to be incapable of waging a successful war because we worry far too much about civilian casualties and property damage than we do to minimizing our own losses and bringing the war to a swift and victorious close. We need to instruct the younger generations so that they would understand there are times when a nation must go to war, either as a coalition or as an individual entity. Please, leave your comments and we will engage in a discussion of them. / posted by Chef Elvin C.
