CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S EVE WEEK EDITION 2015

WINTER SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,865 AT THE AICP-END

COUNTDOWN TO NEW YEAR’S EVE 2015…

Congratulations are in store for the Iraqi troops who have retaken Ramadi
Oildale, CA, 12-30-2015 Wednesday: We have been discussing the history of Iraq, the two wars we fought there, the inability to recover from long years of dictatorship, and how the Iraqis have finally managed to recapture the city of Ramadi from the ISIS thugs.  We have discussed, too, the fact that the Bush #43 administration in the form of chief architect of the recovery/transformation of that nation—Paul Bremer—led to the insurrection first and then to the growth of ISIS and other al-Qaida spinoff groups such as Boko Haram and al-Qaida in Yemen and elsewhere.  ISIS is the modern-day equivalent of no other state in history, even the Ottoman empire grew from a specific region in eastern Turkey into a power that at one time controlled great swaths of real estate from the Middle East to middle of North Africa and up into the Balkans.
ISIS is the dreck left behind by al-Qaida in Iraq--AQI
ISIS on the other hand grew from the shards of al-Qaida in Iraq—AQI—which in itself was a spinoff of the group founded by terror boss, Osama bin Laden, to do battle with the Soviets in Afghanistan and elsewhere across the world.  There are numerous other groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, formed out of the detritus of the Ottoman Empire and caliphate, a group widely celebrated across the Middle East in Sunni circles but not in secular Muslim governments.  In many countries, most notably Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood was an outlaw organization, especially after it assassinated the president of that country, Anwar Sadat, for making peace with the Israelis.  His successor, Hosni Mubarak—friend and ally of the United States and the West—jailed thousands of its members as well as executed hundreds of them for their role in the crime.
Mr. Obama certainly bears a great deal of the responsibility for what has taken place in the Middle East since reaching office…
Everything was fine until Barack Obama came to power, even Iraq was stable, peaceful, and in the midst of a vast transformation overseen by the Bush #43 administration, which handed it off to Obama.  Mr. Obama went to the Middle East and to Cairo, Egypt, in particular where he gave the speech about a ‘new day’ to doubtful Muslim leaders assembled there.  He bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia drawing the ire of the bulk of the American people and came home, a new sort of American ‘leader’ indeed.  Behind the scenes, he labored long and hard to throw the Iraqis to the wolves in order to keep a campaign promise made to his base.  When he did in 2010, he pulled everyone out and blamed his ‘inability to maintain forces there’ due to the failure of his administration to attain a ‘status of forces agreement’ that he in essence did not want.
The death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi led to the birth of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, ‘the Calief of ALL Islam’
Sadly, the destruction of AQI through the combined deaths of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and successive leaders went to waste because it permitted the building of a new tower atop the ruins of the old.  Ibrahim Awwad Ibrahim al-Badri, the man who would become Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was born in Iraq in 1971 and who eventually became a devout Muslim scholar who would attain a Master’s degree and then a doctorate in the study of and the recitation of the Koran.  Unfortunately (or so the story goes), he suffered arrest by U.S. authorities while visiting friends in his home country in early 2004, subsequent imprisonment in Camp Bucca where he radicalized through being in contact with others of like mind.  The U.S. military let him go at the end of 2004, seeing him as little more than a low-level schmuck who did not pose any danger to the Coalition forces operating there.
U.S. forces should have killed al-Badri when they had the opportunity…
There is no doubt that the United States made a huge number of mistakes while in Iraq because the Bush administration did it on the cheap.  They should never have made a move to invade Iraq but the possible reasons for doing so never seem to jibe when one scrutinizes them with a microscope.  Did Saddam have weapons of mass destruction?  Most definitely, he did because satellite imagery culled by the CIA and other intelligence agencies say that he did and that prior to the outbreak of hostilities in 2003, large convoys of trucks crossed western Iraq and went into Syria.  No one has ever said what was in those convoys.  Many believe that the WMDs of Saddam Hussein went to a neighboring Baathist country even though he and Bashar al-Assad were not friendly towards one another.
Had it not been for the inabilities of Barack Hussein Obama, al-Baghdadi might never have reached the pinnacle of power that he has
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is the product of Barack Hussein Obama’s inept and dangerous foreign policy.  Either the president has made more mistakes than the Bush #43 administration or that his father, Bush #41 combined have made.  In fact, I place the blame for Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s rise with the inability of President Barack Obama to do anything worthwhile or useful to stop him.  Oh, sure, he has ‘droned’ numerous terrorists but in so doing, he has also made America far more enemies than his entire drone strikes have killed.  Is this the mess President Obama wants to leave his successor or is he making it just because he is a schlong?  You are the judge on this one.
We must congratulate the Iraqis for what they have accomplished retaking Ramadi from ISIS…
I hope the Iraqis can achieve the victories they need to keep their country free and independent of terrorists but we shall see what we shall see.  I hope the Obama administration will provide them the sort of weaponry they need to do battle with the enemy just as I hope he will aid Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and others who want to do the fighting.  There is nothing wrong with supplying leadership and working closely on the ground to thwart the enemies of not just the Western World but the peace and freedom of the region.  ISIS, more commonly known as Da’ish, which is a derogatory name for the terrorist group is a cancer, not a hope for millions of Muslims and other religious groups across the entire region.  We must become the arsenal of democracy once again.
I hope Vladimir Putin captures the ‘Calief’
In closing, I have this dream that Vladimir Putin will capture Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi alive so it can place the wannabe religious leader on show trial, then send him to the gallows or better yet, to the worst prison in Russia where the inmates will rape the man as Soviet troops once did the women and girls of eastern Germany.  Normally, I would never suggest some horrendous punishment such as this but if anyone deserves it, especially after what he did to aid worker, Kayla Mueller and many others such as she—the ‘Calief of ALL Islam’ certainly deserves it.  Maybe Putin would consider placing it on pay-per-view so we could all see the thug’s first day in the prison yard.  That would be great!

MORE COMING SOON FROM THE SPENCER DAVIS GROUP, TRAFFIC, DAVE MASON, JIM CAPALDI, CHRIS WOOD, AND STEVE WINWOOD

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2015

The final album by Traffic came out in 1974 and featured a toned-down lineup of Steve Winwood (vocals, keyboards, guitars), Jim Capaldi (drums, vocals), Chris Wood (saxophones and flutes), and Rosko Gee (bass).  Rebop Kwaku Baah performed on two tracks but ultimately left the band after it fired him for substance abuse.  The album, “When the Eagle Flies,” was a melancholy swan song but it still did well in the United States and the tour that supported it was great.  We saw them at the Long Beach Arena in California but sadly, the tour was their last as they broke up mid-tour.  Please, use our link to redirect your browser Amazon.com so you can get it in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you—you will be glad you did.

  1. As we roll on to the end of the year, Moses finishes his discussion of the Iraqi fight for their city of Ramadi. While he does not think it could be a trap, which I certainly do, he thinks we need to congratulate the Iraqi military for taking the fight to the enemy. Unfortunately, as the troops decide to move on to Mosul, they could be walking into their own version of Stalingrad, a much larger city than the western Anbar Province town of Ramadi, a place where U.S. troops fought and died to quell the Sunni insurrection. We know the Da’ish thugs left gobs of IEDs for the troops to come across and to take out as many of them as possible. Perhaps, the ISIS trash wants the Iraqis and their allies—Iranian Quds forces and maybe even some Russians—to move on with overwhelming confidence so they can draw them in and wipe them out. We shall see what we shall see, there is still plenty of fight to carry on into next year. Please, join us today to see what you think so we can share our thoughts, ideas, and anything else that comes to mind.
