“Political Topics and Essays, Part CDLI: Itzi ends the Week discussing the alarming increase in ‘Police Brutality’ across the Mainland as well as the desecration of the Memorial to Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri; the Mainland is afire” by Chef Itzi Nakamura

Procol Harum released its next CD, “Secrets of the Hive—the Best of Procol Harum,” (2007), a limited release 2-CD set that contains 20 of the band’s greatest songs.  The recording contains songs from throughout its career and that makes it a great way one can introduce the music of this veteran British rock-and-roll band to one’s ears for decades to come, all for around $40.00.  If you want to give the gift of rock-and-roll to a friend or to loved one, this is a merry way in which to do it so please journey to Amazon.com and seek it out in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for you, your ears, and your bank account.  We also have another Robin Trower CD; it is “Living out of Time Live” (2005), another stellar addition to the ongoing musical saga of Robin Trower and his band.  Please, pick it up by going to Amazon.com and buying it there—you will be glad you did.

SPRING SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,624 AT THE AICP-END
Some Pig cut down the Tree planted for Michael Brown
Bakersfield, CA, 05-03-2015 Sunday: One of the things about being a blogger as well as a chef is that ideas come and go but then when one has the opportunity to sit down for a moment, crack the top on a Michelob and begin recollecting the thoughts and ideas I so carefully committed to memory, they disappear.  We have talked about all sorts of things this past week but one of the saddest things I heard is that some loser, some scumbag, some racist son-of-a-bitch destroyed the tree in Ferguson, Missouri, that friends and family of Michael Brown planted in his memory.  That poor boy suffered enough in his life, one in which, all he wanted to do was to have a good time before he was set to begin college.  Then, he and a friend found themselves confronted by a white racist cop who ended up shooting him—six times, I believe—killing him.  His body then lay in the streets for hours until the authorities finally allowed the family to claim the remains.
We in Hawaii believe we are ‘immune from this sort of thing’
I have to admit that we in Hawaii are relatively immune from this sort of Mainland ‘thing’ but it causes many parents concern when they send their kids to schools in the Lower 48 to attend school.  We cannot be there all the time to keep an eye out for them and so must hope that the lifetime of training their parents have given them will be enough to protect them from a run-in with the law.  Many Hawaiians are extremely dark and unless someone is able to discern the difference between a kanaka and a black person, many times, we might suffer similar treatment.  That is why it is so much better for us to keep our kids here in Hawaii and have them attend the University of Hawaii or one of the other institutions of higher learning here in the islands.  At least then, we can protect our kids while helping them continue growing into the wonderful adults we know they will be.
Police Violence has been on the increase—this is a sign of something ‘bad’
On to other things now, as there is not much else we can say about what happened to poor Michael Brown and Ferguson, Missouri.  It is my hope that others will have the ability to heal the deep wounds that traumatize that city, someone has to or they are liable to explode into reality once more as the weather begins to heat up.  All across the nation, we have seen confrontations between the police and the people of this country and in almost everyone where a suspect suffers severe injuries or dies, many times that individual is black. We saw it in New York City with the choke hold death of Eric Garner and we saw it again in South Carolina a month or so ago when a white cop shot a black man numerous times in the back then made it appear as if he ran off with the officer’s Taser.
Look at the poor man shot in the back in South Carolina—shocking!
When we watch these things on television in Hawaii, it shocks the hell out of many of us because we are not used to seeing abuse at these levels.  The man in Baltimore who had the run-in with the cops there and who suffered a spinal cord injury that almost severed his spine and killed him is yet another example of out-of-control cops.  We saw another one that took place in San Bernardino, California, where a thug led cops on a chase that involved him using a horse to escape up into the scrubland of the mountains until the cops finally caught up with him and threw him to the ground.  Once there, they pummeled him with fists, nightsticks, and feet, one officer going so far as to kick the man between his legs while overhead news helicopters circling around caught everything on tape.
‘Police Brutality’ is making a comeback…
I think the only answer to qualm the people of the country, citizens who go from one event to another wondering ‘WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE COPS?’  We have not seen abuse by cops to the degree that we now see it and we must ask ourselves, ‘is this how it has ALWAYS been?’  We have heard the old term from the 1960’s, “POLICE BRUTALITY” but thought that was a thing of the past.  Sadly, that does not seem so otherwise, there is a growing rebirth of angry cops pounding the poi out of every person they deem worthy of a beating.  Times such as these make us want to return to the days of the ‘Kingdom,’ a time when we lived wonderful lives while outsiders—haoles as we call them—kept their dirty doings to themselves.  All we can do is to hope that this disease does not spread to the islands as if it does, there is but one answer: a federalized police force in which, all police move about the country as though they were in the military and not local.  I hope that the next president no matter who he or she is finds a way to bring about a spirit of law and order for everyone and not just a select few.
A Federalized Police Force might be the ONLY answer…

We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.
LIVING OUT OF TIME
TOO ROLLING STONED LIVE
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blog site.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here is another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

LIVE AT THE UNION CHAPEL
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!

God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!

ONE EYE TO THE FUTURE—RECORDED LIVE IN ITALY 2007

DREAMING THE BLUES
I have had a great time this week but one thing I failed to discuss was the collapse of the Internal Revenue Service not dealing with the public.  The director of the IRS, John Koskinen, that fool blamed it on budget cuts and the such when it turned out that they spent tons of money on IT upgrades, bonuses for high-level officials, and other stupid things unworthy of the tax-gathering organization.  One thing I love about the Republicans is that they want to reform this ‘bad boy’ organization in which, customer service ranks last and high bonuses come first.  The American people have no problem paying taxes as long as they are fair and the leaders of the organization do not spit in our faces.  However, when we see they hold us in contempt by not answering phones or opening the doors of their help centers, then we have a major problem on our hands that I hope the next president has the balls to solve—man or woman.  Folks, have a wonderful Sunday, until we meet again—a hui hou kakou—until we meet again, goodbye and God bless you all!

LIVING OUT OF TIME LIVE
The Closing Words of our Founder, Stinkbug:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Procol Harum, Robin Trower, Gary Brooker, Matthew Fisher, James Dewar, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com, the world’s largest online marketplace in the world and most likely in the Universe!
Thank you!

  1. Chef Itzi concludes the week discussing all of the tragic events of late in, which, we have watched police officers on the mainland use excessive force against minority suspects, especially young black males. How many times do we need to witness tragic events such as these without finding some sort of solution, perhaps a federalized police force is the ONLY way to end these tragic events? Each one bears the potential to become the spark that sets the entire nation aflame in protests, reaction, and civil disobedience. We can stop the nation from suffering further trauma by having the federal government step in, clamp down, and take over every city, town, and county law enforcement agency. Please, join us today and share your thoughts on this very important topic, one that has the ability either to tear apart or to repair the fabric of this country.
