“Political Topics and Essays, Part CDXLVI: a Growing Number of Hawaiian Leaders believe decriminalizing Marijuana in the Aloha State would be beneficial for EVERYONE—what the Heck have these Lawmakers been smoking?” by Chef Itzi Nakamura

Procol Harum released its next CD, “The Essential Collection ’67-‘91,” (2003), an import album that contains 20 of the band’s tunes from the beginning until the reformation.  If you seek an introduction between you and the band, this is one way you can do it although some feel the CD is too compressed and the sound volume way too high.  You can buy it new for around $42 and for about $12 used so it is a good deal.  Please go to Amazon.com by using the link we provide you here so you can buy it—you will be happy you did.

SPRING SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,619 AT THE AICP-END

Law Enforcement is Different in Hawaii
Bakersfield, CA, 04-28-2015 Tuesday: Social issues have been at the forefront of our political discourse over the past several months as have the tragic narrative of white cops shooting black men on the mainland.  In Hawaii, more often than not, whites serving on the various police forces are the minority with most of our officers being Hawaiian or other Asian cultures, men and women who know the communities they serve and serve them well.  Over the course of the past couple of decades, however, we have witnessed a massive influx of people coming to the islands to relocate and to live here.  Accordingly, we have watched many of the problems with which, the mainland has long dealt blossom here in our beloved Hawaii, virtually all of the drugs that plague the Lower 48 and Alaska have made their way to my homeland and it upsets all of us who have long roots here.
Some in Hawaii want to relax Laws related to the use of Marijuana
Some who live here who believe that a change in our drug laws mimicking those of Colorado would be the way to go as would casino-style gambling and even a state lottery, as well, something we sadly do not have.  However, our state and local governments do not seem to agree on just what we could and could not allow and so, drugs insinuate themselves into the population causing the same problems they cause on the mainland.  The ocean has always protected us from outside influences, other than the ones we choose to allow in but now, we, the tourist destination of the world, see drugs flowing in from ships docking at our ports while others bombard us from the skies, so to speak.  Pakalolo is one thing but other synthetic drugs as well as the old standbys such as heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine continue to pose problems for the population and the law enforcement agents who serve them.
Drugs are a growing Problem in the Aloha State
My hope is that we will not follow the path Colorado recently chose because already, we can see an increase in the number of crimes there, crimes that at one time were minimal and confined to a particular segment of the community. Just the idea of edibles, you know, marijuana-laced foods, being prevalent concerns many of us, particularly those of us who are parents with young kids.  Once you start putting dope into sweet treats and other foodstuffs, it becomes a wonderful way to introduce drug usage into teenagers and even younger children just as soda pop hard liqueurs do.  Yes, we have always had pakalolo here but not to the degree, we now see and that is something every Hawaiian who loves their birthplace, their lifestyle, and what it means to raise children into strong adults should cringe.  We cannot afford to allow the dry rot from which, the mainland suffers to infest itself into our culture as once that happens, the quality of life begins to slip into decline, malaise, and depression, not something a strong community needs.
Drug-laced Edibles are BAD just as are Fruit-flavored Hard Alcoholic Beverages
On the other hand, there are many who believe the War on Drugs has been a tragic failure, to some degree, I believe that to be true.  We must face the actuality that we have many Americans in prison serving lengthy sentences over possession of minor amounts of marijuana and other drugs.  Not too long ago, President Obama began pardoning these unfortunate inmates, which I believe is the right thing to do, especially if we are now decriminalizing drug possession, growing weed, and selling it so tax revenues can flow to the states.  Medicinal marijuana is something Hawaiians will embrace whole-heartedly, as it will allow them to smoke openly and legally, something, which we, older folks tend to disagree.  However, I cannot deny that from the time I was a teenager, many of my friends as well as older family members were already smoking the crazy weed undercover of the night.
Pakalolo has been with us a long, long time…
I can recall times in which, we had birthday parties and other social gatherings out on our lanais in the sweltering evening and everyone would be drinking beer, some wine, hard liquor, and enjoying a wide variety of foods cooked by the family.  The younger people would go into the backyard behind the work shed and out of the lantern lights dangling overhead on the covered lanai so they could fire up a joint.  The older folks could smell it but seldom said anything unless they did so in private.  I can recall my mother reaming my older brother for doing ‘mainland shit’ and embarrassing her to which, he shrugged and said ‘we all do it, mama.’  No, pakalolo has long been a part of Hawaiian living but what we do not need is a major increase in strength, quantity, as well as far worse drugs polluting our islands.  We all know that once we lose our lifestyle here, there will be no place else in the world where we can go. Moreover, the Aloha style of life will become a figment of the past, like the dodo bird, something seen only in museums—we must defend our state at all costs from outside influences.
The Aloha State is worth protecting…

I’LL BE THERE/JOURNEY’S END
GO MY WAY
As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the AICP-END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.
CLASSIC TRACKS AND RARITIES
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blog site.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here is another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!
LICORICE JOHN DEATH
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!
THE FIRST FOUR LEGENDARY ALBUMS
To buy paintings, recipes, or full article series, please send us your information by mailing us at P.O. Box #20669, Bakersfield, CA, 93309-0669.  You can call about paintings at 661-374-1430; we will take all calls and provide to you as much information as is available.  It is time that we begin taking the next step and to immortalize Beverly Carrick for eternity and begin moving towards the establishment of a website of our own! God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!
THE SINGLES A’S AND B’S
I guess time will tell but I hope that my home state does not collapse beneath a strong haze of drug use.  The past 20 years has seen many changes come to the Hawaiian Islands, many of them not very good.  While we wish NOT to regress to living as they do on the last major island heading west, Niihau (a Native Hawaiian reserve), I would hope that we can begin slowing down progress and controlling who and what comes to our state.  If we do not, we will end up like California, Colorado, and some of the other extremely open and progressive states.  While I realize it sounds sort of hypocritical of me to condemn ‘progressivism’ on one hand while promoting ‘liberalism’ on the other, we can deal with our own problems here provided we can control what comes in from outside.  Television and Hollywood are the two leading purveyors of ‘modern culture’ and we must find a way to minimize their effects.  We do not need people emulating say, “Furious 7” here in the islands because that would prove detrimental any more than we need others living the “Breaking Bad” lifestyle.  In the end, it comes down to us, the citizens of the state of Hawaii to protect it from negative influences.  Have a great day, aloha and goodbye for now, we will meet again tomorrow—bye!

THE ESSENTIAL COLLECTION ’67-‘91

The Closing Words of our Founder, Stinkbug:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Procol Harum, Robin Trower, Gary Brooker, Matthew Fisher, James Dewar, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com, the world’s largest online marketplace in the world and most likely in the Universe!
Thank you!

  1. Chef Itzi discusses the debate over the legalization of drugs in the Aloha State as well as what the people want, not to see the state fall into decline, as are those in the Lower 48. For a long time, drugs continue their creep across the Pacific and into Hawaii and it, something we as a state must find ways to stop. If we value our lifestyle and our young, then we must not allow the two bills in Hawaii’s state government to make us more like Colorado than the beautiful islands we are in the midst of the Pacific Ocean. HB889 and SB873 would minimize the penalties for marijuana and would allow us to follow the path of the Rocky Mountain State. While we acknowledge that we have always had pakalolo here and that our young people have used it, it is not something we care to share with the rest of the world as we do not want to see drug usage continue getting worse. We must defend our islands as no one else will and to Chef Itzi, this means controlling who and what comes in and limiting future growth so we do not lose aloha lifestyle forever. Please join her today and share your thoughts on this important conversation, we welcome everyone.
