“Political Topics and Essays, Part CDXLI: Cheryl discusses the Lifestyle, the Crime Rates, Places in which, one should not live or should pass through quickly today on Aloha Hump Day Thursday” by Chef Cheryl La Tigre

The next CD by Robin Trower, “Go My Way,” (2000) is the first album for a new century released by the veteran British guitarist.  As always, Mr. Trower delivers the goods, no matter what the record company or modern-day musical imbeciles might think.  Bands such as Maroon 5 and other crap acts have no idea what a great guitar solo is so Mr. Trower schools the world here.  If you want to hear a blast from the past yet music for a New Millennia, then you need to own this CD.  Go to Amazon.com using the link we provide you so you can pick it up in the format, the condition, and the price that is right for YOU—you will thank us for sending you there!

SPRING SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,614 AT THE AICP-END

Aloha Hump Day!
Bakersfield, CA, 04-23-2015 Thursday: It’s ‘Aloha Hump Day,’ a great day to be sure, because after we conclude our business, we have three days to go before we hit Pau Hana Sunday.  “Pau Hana” means in Hawaiian lingo that our workweek is over and we are on the road home, time for luaus, celebrations, parties, and drinking while watching television.  Here in the islands things typically come on between 2-3 hours earlier than they do here on the Mainland and that is because of Daylight Savings Time and normal time.  Therefore, when we sit down to watch the NFL on Sunday—you know, when the pupus come out and we begin drinking beer—it is 7:00 a.m.  You can imagine that by the time the last game ends, it is still very early to go out and have dinner at one of the local places unless, of course, we are working that day.  One thing you will notice when you come to visit us is that we do enjoy celebrating virtually everything and that is why anyone who loves life should come here and consider seeking residence.
During Football Season, the Party begins EARLY…
The past few days, we have discussed politics and the LGBT situation here in Hawaii, a great place for both to be sure.  While I am not gay myself, I have family members who are and we accept them fully.  Polynesian life was really one of freedom until the stuck-up British and American whalers began arriving, bringing missionaries along with them who then sought to transform our way of life into one of oppression, subservience, and unhappiness.  Granted, that is quite a long time ago but the true Hawaiian people have not forgotten their liberties that the newcomers usurped from them.  Add to that the overthrow of the Kingdom and you can understand why there is an animosity that exists among some of the folks who live here--especially among the young, somewhat poor Hawaiian community—which occasionally appears as violence against outsiders.
We had a Great Way of Life here in Hawaii until the Whalers and the Missionaries showed up…
Unfortunately, we do have crime here in Hawaii, something that like everything else seems to have gone up over the past quarter-century. If you visit Disastercenter.com (please see references for the link), you can see how crime rates in Hawaii have gone up from 1960 to 2013.  Virtually every crime from rape, robbery, murder, and violent assault have gone up, more than many of us would care to admit with the bulk of them occurring on Oahu, the main island and seat of government for the state.  For many of us, it is an embarrassment but like Ferguson, Missouri, everyone among the lower classes suffer agitation between themselves and the cops.  What you have on the Mainland is not something that is just your problem but many of the things that happen here one never hears about on national television because it might cause tourism to dry up—not something we want.
Like it or not, Crime Rates have gone up in Hawaii…
However, we still attempt to keep a familial atmosphere here in the islands meaning that most of us interconnect with one another, no matter our ethnicity.  We have people from many parts of the world who have deep roots here and the fact that we all intermarry among one another is the glue that holds our society together.  Unfortunately, the explosion of hardcore drug use among many of our citizens breeds the same sorts of crimes as you see on the Mainland and worse, we are the way station for the movement of drugs back and forth between the North American Continent and Asia and parts further west.  My hope is that we will be able to stabilize the situation here by doing more search and seizure operations because the bulk of the drugs flowing in—methamphetamine being among the worst—flows in through the airports with people flying more so than it does aboard ships.  Thankfully, we have a strong police presence at our ports and that keeps smuggling in massive amounts down.
Unbelievably, there are Places that one should NOT visit or live in Hawaii…
In the end, we welcome tourists from all over the world and ask that they respect our laws, our culture, and the people themselves.  We can and do live in harmony among one another but again, are not immune from the goings-on, on the Mainland.  We do have some political turmoil but most of the time comes to consensus better than what you see in other states.  I have to admit that whenever I come to California, it seems that the state grows worse by the visit.  I pity the folks and the drought restrictions they find themselves living under because that could very well be the Hawaiian Islands in a decade or so.  The influx of permanent residents, the building of luxury homes, the loss of precious resources, and the presence of nearly every national and global environmental group here makes things difficult at best.  We will continue discussing the 50th state over the course of the rest of this week unless I veer off onto something else.  We shall see.
Perhaps tomorrow, we will discuss something else…

MATTHEW FISHER/STRANGE DAYS
As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the AICP-END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.

THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY ANTHOLOGY

STUMBLEDOWN ROMANCER
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blog site.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here is another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

THIS WAS NOW ’74-‘98
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!

BBC LIVE IN CONCERT

I’LL BE THERE/JOURNEY’S END
I live on Oahu and let me tell you the less-than-desirable neighborhoods, most of which are on the Westside.  Kalihi, Waipahu, Waimanalo, Nanakuli, Waianae, and Makaha are all places people love to visit or pass through but are not places where one with a middle class or better life would care to live.  On Maui, area north of Wailuku where the bulk of the lower-end folks live, not somewhere, anyone should ever buy a home and move into the notorious Happy Valley.  Of course, there are scattered communities here and there across the islands but some, well, you have to find them for yourselves, no doubt about it.  Friends, have a great day, I love you all--- aloha Au la ‘oe—and we will meet here again tomorrow, my friends—ah hui hou kakou!

GO MY WAY
The Closing Words of our Founder, Stinkbug:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Procol Harum, Robin Trower, Gary Brooker, Matthew Fisher, James Dewar, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com, the world’s largest online marketplace in the world and most likely in the Universe!
Thanks, my friends!

This is a photo of me back in the 1980’s when I was working at a hotel in Honolulu, HI, on Waikiki Beach.  I began my career in the early 1970’s when I apprenticed to cook under one of the masters on the Big Island where I was born.  I moved to Oahu in the early 1980’s after having worked in both Kona and Hilo, HI, and have been there for most of my professional career.  I have also worked on Maui for a few years (1995-1998) and have been on Kauai (2001-2003) before returning to Honolulu.  My goal is to prepare the next generation of chefs for the future and to help the underprivileged in their struggle to attain careers in the foodservice industry.

  1. Chef Cheryl decides today to discuss lifestyle and home in Hawaii, how things have changed over the past couple of decades more so than any native-born individual ever expected. This has also resulted in an increase of crime rates of all types, something that makes many long for the days of the Kingdom—even if they never knew it—because what the whalers and then the missionaries brought here is not the way in which, we were meant to thrive. However, there are plusses to living here and that is the feeling of ‘community’ we share with one another as we are interconnected through intermarriage and through living together for many generations. We all know a family surname so it does not take much to for us to figure out family ties, which a wonderful thing is living in the 50th state of the nation. There are perquisites to living here such as the NFL beginning at 7:00 a.m. every Sunday morning thanks to the time difference and Daylight Savings Time on the Mainland; it works out well for those who wish to party all day. Anyhow, she invites everyone to join her today on this Aloha Hump Day Thursday!
