“Political Topics and Essays, Part CDXL: Cheryl returns to discussing the Presidential Race of 2016 by saying there are Reverse Similarities to what we saw in 2008—Hillary is the Old Lion while some in the GOP such as Marco Rubio is the YOUNG Tiger” by Chef Cheryl La Tigre

Procol Harum released its next CD, “BBC Live in Concert,” (2000), a welcome addition to the ongoing discography from the ‘70s lineup.  Almost all of the BBC albums put out by British bands are lovely and this one is no exception so please, check it out now.  In addition to the previous CD, we also are offering a ‘two-for-one’ of the first two solo CDs released by organist Matthew Fisher from the early 1970s: “I’ll be There/Journey’s End” (2000).  On the 18th of this month, we offered his second pairing of CDs so the record company did not put them out in order, they put them out as they saw fit.  We bought both of these LPs back in the 1970s and expected Mr. Fisher to sound more as he did in Procol Harum but that was not the case—his musical persona was completely different.  We recommend both CDs today so please go to Amazon.com and grab them both at the price that makes you happy.

SPRING SESSION 2015

BLOGPOST #1,613 AT THE AICP-END

Senator Marco Rubio is indeed, the Young Tiger…
Bakersfield, CA, 04-22-2015 Wednesday: I have to admit that after watching the announcement that Senator Marco Rubio, R-Florida, made last Monday, April 13, 2015, I am somewhat afraid of him.  Do not misunderstand what I am saying, I believe that Hillary can go toe-to-toe with him, it is just that he has the vigor, the vitality, and the youthful appearance that our candidate does not.  In some ways, if Hillary is the ultimate Democrat standard-bearer and she goes up against the 43-year-old freshman senator, it will be like the aged Senator John McCain going up against the freshman senator from Illinois, Barack Obama, back in 2008—John McCain lost and Senator Obama went on to two successful terms in the White House.
…while Hillary is more of the Old Lion a la John McCain
I think the GOP has many candidates who are qualified to compete among themselves for the nomination of their party while Hillary—so far our only announced candidate—will suffer the slings and arrows of her opponents.  It will appear as do hunting dogs on a wild pig—attacking from every side—until the pig collapses, out-of-breath and unable to defend itself.  Granted, I am not equating Hillary to the pig, but the scenario is what it is and the electorate usually goes with youth, grace, and grand oratorical skills.  The Republicans have many on their side such as Senators Rubio, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Dr. Benjamin Carson, former Governor Jeb Bush, and Carly Fiorina who can trade blow to blow with Hillary until she goes down beneath them—this is the problem of announcing way too soon!
The GOP has many young candidates ready to battle Hillary for the Presidency…
What can we do as supporters of Hillary Clinton?  One thing we can do is to get the word out and get it out everywhere for all to hear.  Once she puts out a formulated message, one we can define, refine, and break down into intellectual tidbits and then disseminate them to all who are willing to listen as well as inviting those who will not to at least hear what it is we have to say, we can help push Hillary over the finish line.  This is what grassroots politics is about, my friends; it is about going out there and pounding the pavement, walking the beaches, hiking the trails and sharing the ‘word.’  We must help Hillary by being her foot soldiers, by raising campaign funds and by helping out as volunteers at Democrat Party headquarters from one end of the country to the other.  If we do not, then we will go down to at least four and possibly eight years of toppling the policies of the first nonwhite president, something I know most of us are not willing to see.
Even in Hawaii, there is ‘Obama Fatigue’
Even here in Hawaii, there is a backlash among many people who suffer from some of the things Barack Obama managed to get into law such as Obamacare, despite all of the force the Republicans put up to frustrate him.  Yes, we might suffer from some Obama Fatigue because it has not been a pleasant six-and-a-half years.  Even here at the blog, the blog I thank Stinkbug for giving me the opportunity for which to write, they call the president’s time in office not as the ‘president’ but as the ‘dictator.’  While it hurts my soul to affix my name to my posts at a site where there is such rabid dislike of the president and his policies, it is the duty of myself and the few other liberals here to offer a positive message and not a negative one although many might not read my posts.  I still must fight to get that message out to the masses that there are some among the AICP-END blog and its subsidiary blog, the one where we share the artworks of Beverly Carrick, because if I do not defend the president and the party, then who the heck will?
EVERY Democrat must step up and do his or her Duty…
We in the Aloha State believe that we can influence the rest of the nation even though we are among the smallest of the fifty states with perhaps the exception of Rhode Island.  We accept all styles and forms of humanity and attempt to do our best not to judge anyone all the while protecting the rights of all.  Most of us believe that it is important for us to engage on all fronts because if we do not, we will forfeit the good will of the islands, something with which, every person born here or who becomes one with us has.  If the spirit of the islands flowed from outward from Hawaii on ALL sides and swept over the world, it is possible we might have the opportunity to live in a world in which, we knew little to no strife, and that everyone shared equal respect with one another.  While we might not be able to do that, however, what we can do is to support those who resonate with that spirit and are willing to impart it to everyone as Democrats across the nation do daily.
The Aloha Spirit will ALWAYS lead the way…
Aloha is the religion of our lives, a spirit that emanates from the peaks of the volcanoes to the deepest parts of the surrounding ocean.  If you have never seen the bright stars of a dark Hawaiian night, then you have no idea of the myriad possibilities that await all of us—we must keep that alive through voting for the RIGHT candidates.  If we do not rise to the occasion, then who will, that is what I ask.  We cannot afford to regress, only move forward so we can bring fairness and equality to everyone and not just ourselves.
Imagine the Aloha Spirit enveloping the World with Peace and Love…

 THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION
As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the AICP-END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.

We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blog site.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here is another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

ONE MORE TIME—LIVE IN UTRECHT, NETHERLANDS 1992
One person I hope does not enter the race is Secretary of State John Kerry, that man has run and lost and I believe there are few second chances in life.  Besides, I must admit that as a mother, I sincerely feel for his poor mother, having had to pass that massive head through her cervix when he was born.  I realize that sounds a trifle hateful for someone such as myself but most women can agree, there are easy and difficult births and that man sure looks like one of the latter.  Besides, when he went up against George W. Bush, he stumbled and bumbled about worse than did the sitting president in 2004 so why would we even consider him for a second chance?  I realize that perhaps he hopes to pick up the Veep spot as did Joe Biden but that is as close as that man will EVER get to the presidency unless some sort of national emergency occurs.  Then, all I can say is, “God help us.”  Have a lovely Wednesday I will see you tomorrow for Aloha Thursday.

The Closing Words of our Founder, Stinkbug:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Procol Harum, Robin Trower, Gary Brooker, Matthew Fisher, James Dewar, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com, the world’s largest online marketplace in the world and most likely in the Universe!
Thanks, my friends!

This is a photo of me back in the 1980’s when I was working at a hotel in Honolulu, HI, on Waikiki Beach.  I began my career in the early 1970’s when I apprenticed to cook under one of the masters on the Big Island where I was born.  I moved to Oahu in the early 1980’s after having worked in both Kona and Hilo, HI, and have been there for most of my professional career.  I have also worked on Maui for a few years (1995-1998) and have been on Kauai (2001-2003) before returning to Honolulu.  My goal is to prepare the next generation of chefs for the future and to help the underprivileged in their struggle to attain careers in the foodservice industry.

  1. Chef Cheryl returns to handicapping the presidential race of 2016 and admits that the youthfulness on the GOP side of the aisle causes her concern. Democrats will have to pull out all stops if it hopes to push Hillary over the top and that means ALL of us must be on guard for any political tricks the GOP might launch. She sees Marco Rubio as one of the top candidates and unless we can make him stumble and take a few pratfalls, we stand to see our dreams of the first female candidate squashed and the first Cuban-American in the White House. She also discusses the agony the mother of John F. Kerry must have endured giving birth to her son with the uniquely shaped head but that is a story for another day.
