“Midterm Election Week 2014 and the Best in Political Cartoons, Part Twenty-One: today, Moses puts the Political Cartoons on hold so he can discuss a Tragic Event that has torn his Aged Heart—the Story of Orange the Cat and his Sad Demise” by Moses Scharbug III

The 35th album that King Crimson has released is one that surprised many fans as it contains a bevy of tunes most of which, no one has heard unless they heard them live on stage.  The CD is an EP, one that is called, “Happy with what you have to be Happy with,” a CD that came out in 2002 and is well worth the investment of $15 or less.  The thing about this band is that once you begin amassing their notable collection of CDs, EPs, and DVDS, you realize that there is so much one needs to buy so the sooner you begin, the sooner you will be able to accomplish the task.  Please, go to Amazon.com and pick the CD up at the price that is right for you; thank you!

FALL SESSION 2014

BLOGPOST #1,463 AT THE AICP-END

I have a Personal Story for you today
Bakersfield, CA, 11-23-2014 Sunday: Today, I am going to discuss a recent event that made my wife and extremely sad, we had to put a cat down who was not ours but whom someone had dumped and who we allowed to live on our property unmolested for several years.  At various times, we attempted to go out and tame him but he was suspicious of human beings and usually avoided us whenever we went outside and spoke to him.  We called this cat, “Orange,” he was an old orange tabby cat and while he seemed unafraid, he was not extremely friendly and if we attempted to coax to come over to us, he would disappear into the bushes in the backyard.  Since he seemingly was our guest, we put out fresh water and food every day, which kept him from starving and also took care of a neighbor’s cat, Max, who seemed to spend more time in our yard than at home.
Orange the Cat certainly deserved a Better lot in Life than the one dealt him
Last winter, I began to feel horribly sorry for poor Orange, I would go out in the morning and it would be cold, in the fifties, and there he was, sleeping on the cold hard ground in a flowerbed.  I would talk to him, he would listen, but we never came to being more than on a first-name basis.  I found several containers that I thought perhaps he would sleep in so he could conserve body heat, but it was clear to me that he needed someone to help him and that person was me.  However, we had a cat of our own living in the house and were not sure that even if we could trap him that he would adjust to indoor living and to our younger cat so we did our best to keep him as warm as possible but he saw everything as a trap.  Finally, the weather began to warm and we breathed a sigh of relief but I was more determined than ever to eventually catch him and bring him into the house, if I could.
Slowly, Orange opened up to us, bit by bit…
Therefore, during the first week of November, I began a blitz of attempting to lure Orange into the house.  I bought special food and he did seem to respond, he acted as though that was some good stuff, that Friskies cat food.  He would come to the backdoor and I would push the food out through a crack in the door so he could smell my hand while at the same time, I kept our young cat from leaping out into the backyard and scaring Orange. Within the scope of a couple of days, he allowed me to scratch his head with my hand pushed around the door so he did not feel threatened but still allowed me to make physical contact.  Eventually, he would allow me to touch him a bit more until finally, when I was able to scratch his head and down his spine, he began to come alive and you could see the starvation of love under which, he had long suffered.  As he warmed up, so did I, my heart was at the breaking point as was his and eventually he ran no longer and prepared himself to take a chance on another human being.
Finally, we were able to bring Orange into our Home…
Finally, on November 07, after working at it for about a week, I was able to put my hands on him and pull him into the house.  At first, he was somewhat lost, very cautious, afraid, but he and our cat made contact and all seemed well.  We went about our normal business all the while we allowed him to roam about the house giving it the go over as cats will do.  He ate well, drank clean water and planted himself on the floor, feeling grateful that once again, he had a home and a mother and father who would look after him.  The next morning, we were committed to taking him to our veterinarian so we could get him a checkup, get him cleaned up, get his shots, clean his ears, cleanse him of parasites and then bring him into our home as a member of the family.  However, what we discovered there was not quite what we expected and soon all of us would be extremely disappointed.
We took Orange to our Veterinarian expecting the Best…
The veterinarian showed us that poor Orange was missing many of his teeth and that he had a severe ear infection.  He also saw a wound atop his head, probably made by the neighbor’s cat outdoors as they did tend to scrap somewhat often.  They did his bloodwork and we were going to allow the vet to keep him for four days so they could do all the work while keeping a close watch on his recovery and then send him to the groomer next door.  Unfortunately, the vet called us later in the day and said that Orange showed signs of having feline HIV-AIDS, a malady that hits outdoor cats quite often.  We asked what our options were and the vet said they would run more tests to try and determine as to whether or not he might have had vaccinations for this disease or if he indeed had it himself.  After several hours, the vet called us back with devastating news.
…sadly, there was little we could do to save Orange…
It would appear that poor Orange had the disease and with no hope of ever finding anyone who might have had knowledge as to the poor cat’s history, we had little to no choice to do what we had to do.  We could not bring him into our home lest we put our cat at risk—which we already had by bringing him and allowing him to spend the night—and putting him out for another month in the decreasingly cooler weather when he had finally made it into the house seemed undoable.  Based on the fact that he was an OLD cat lacking most of his teeth and suffering from these illnesses for a long time, we gave the vet the go-ahead to put the poor boy down, nothing else we could do.  The sad thing is that the vet would not be able to put him down until late in the evening so since my wife and I had plans, we could not be there with him.  This haunted me for days because I felt as though I had given Orange false hope and then taken him on a one-way ride to the veterinarian’s hospital.
My Heart was broken and remains broken over the Fate of Poor Orange…
They put Orange down that evening and I broke down in tears, this was certainly NOT the way my wife and I had intended for this to end!  We had hoped to have brought the old man into the house, given him a few final years of life in which, we loved him, cared for him, and made him feel alive again.  When I was finally able to put my hands on him and begin to show him love, you could see him and his heart begin melting like warm butter, it was as if, he had finally been delivered from the long nightmare under which, he had to live since his owners abandoned him, moved away, or let him go.  I was horribly sad for several days, I cried my eyes out, went to the synagogue and spoke with the rabbi about the tragedy of it all.  It seemed so unfair and I felt so bad for the cat that words were not there for me to express.  I still feel bad about Orange and all I can say is that if YOU are a pet owner, please be responsible and look after YOUR animals.  They look to you for protection, for love, for their food, water, their sustenance and their upbringing.  They are like one’s children, one’s family members, one’s moral obligation for which, to care and to abandon the poor animal to its own devices is cruel.  I am just sorry I did not try to save this poor cat sooner, that will forever be a black mark against my soul, one I will have to answer for when I meet my Maker.
People, please look after your Animals and your Children, they deserve Better than what they sometimes get…

Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO THE KING CRIMSON COLLECTOR’S CLUB
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

LADIES OF THE ROAD
I chose to finish the week with this personal story, one that I have had to deal with since the beginning of this month.  Orange lived outside for maybe 4-5 years and we would always talk to him through the window as he sunned himself on the ledge outside our office.  He seemed like a pleasant fellow, never showed any anger towards us, merely distrust, and for that, who could blame him?  I hope that if God gives me another chance to make the appropriate decision that I will snap to it much more quickly than I did with Orange.  No animal should ever have to undergo the loss of human warmth, love, and affection but nowadays, so many do in the same way children seem to suffer the same horrendous issues.  We are living in a time when it would appear that humanity has no time to show the concern for their fellow animals sharing the globe with them and all I can do is to ask each of you to look out for whatever animals with whom you find yourselves sharing your property.  If they are strays, they need you and your heart and humanity needs them as otherwise, when you meet the Lord, He will ask you why you did nothing to alleviate their suffering.  I am still working on my own answer for the Lord, I just do not believe that he will readily accept it but I certainly hope that he accepts yours.
HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE TO BE HAPPY WITH
Stinkbug’s Closing Words:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by King Crimson and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!

  1. Moses Scharbug III discusses a very personal story we first presented in a Facebook post a couple of weeks ago about Orange the cat. Orange was a beat-up old tabby cat someone had left for us to find, a cat with no home and one we allowed to live on our property unmolested for several years while looking after his basic needs. As Moses says, it became more personal when he and his wife decided to try to bring him into their home as a member of their family, only it took an unexpected twist that was not good for the poor cat. The gist of the story is that people should never abandon an animal to the winds, it is neither a kind nor Godly thing to do and yet, many do it with no remorse whatsoever. In the end, we judge societies on how they treat animals, children, women, and the weaker members of it. Something has definitely changed in this nation when the life of a poor old cat means little to most passerby and yet, we did our best to save him, albeit too late. If another cat shows up at our door with no home or family, we will do our best to save him or her as quickly as possible so we can bring them into our family unless, of course, some serious disease such as feline HIV-AIDS is present. Then, we can do what we can do but one thing we now know is that we will not allow them to suffer needlessly. Please join us at the blog for a very personal tale today, one that might give you reason to think. God bless you all and thanks for being a member of our blog, without you, we would be unable to do the good works we attempt to do.
