“Political Topics and Essays, Part Two-Hundred-and-Sixty-Six: Chef James concludes the Week discussing California History, the Recall of Governor Gray Davis, and the Future of the once-Golden State—please, JOIN Him!” by Chef James “Jimmy” Hall

--> --> --> ----------------------
The first CD is an interesting one to say the least, it is a look at the development of Jimmy Page as a guitarist doing the sessions for which, he became famous.  Playing with him are fellow future Zeppelin members, John Paul Jones and John Bonham as well as gifted guitarist Albert Lee and Screaming Lord Sutch.  Many other British musicians also perform on this CD.  The recording is entitled, “No Introduction Necessary,” it came out in 2011 and is a CD everyone needs to own.  The second CD is a concert recording of the reunited band, Bad Company, “Live in the UK at Wembley Arena,” (2011), a great combo pack if ever there was one.  Please go to Amazon.com and grab both CDs now at the price that is correct for you.

FALL SESSION 2014

BLOGPOST #1,414 AT THE AICP-END
We have arrived at the End of the Week! (Yesterday's Advertised Book)
Bakersfield, CA, 10-05-2014 Sunday: Thankfully, it is Sunday and even better, the weather is beginning to change in Bakersfield, California, the home of the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day.  Actually, the office in which, we congregate to write our posts or to cook our recipes when we do that sort of thing is NORTH of the Kern River in the burg of Oildale, a less-than-respectful area that is home to shall we say, the ‘Okie contingent’ of the city?  Back in the day, you know, in the days of John Steinbeck’sThe Grapes of Wrath,” hundreds of thousands of Midwesterners moved lock, stock, and barrel from their devastated properties back home.  Thanks to the Depression and the horrendous dust bowl, these people left their properties behind for the banks to reclaim, piled everything atop the family car, and then with all the family members and pets aboard it, headed west, towards the setting Sun to find and to make a new home.
California, the Great Beacon to ALL who needed a Fresh Start
Bakersfield has a great deal of history about it, something that makes it highly interesting to visit.  Here, unlike the Spanish missions along the coast, the inner valley of California really had very little contact with the interlopers from Europe.  We find no missions here although the city has a statue of the padre, Father Garces, who explored the region along with a unit of troops as the Spanish extended their claim throughout the entire region.  At the time of their arrival, according to local history, this was not the sort of place one wished to make a permanent camp as it was swampy, infested with malaria-carrying mosquitoes and according to them, the inhabitants as dumb as a basketful of dirt.  Of course, we do not slander the so-called ‘digger Indians’ who inhabited the area but life was hard in this heat-blasted, God-forsaken place and so the Spanish continued moving north, always favoring the coastal environs but setting up small settlements up-and-down the San Joaquin Valley for future development.
California was once truly the “Golden State” whereas now, it is definitely NOT
As with many of my college-educated fellow chefs, I have taken two courses in California history, a very enlightening experience to learn what it once was like to live and to work in this very bountiful place. I am almost 70 years old, I will be next September, and I can recall growing up in this very lovely place, thinking to myself “Boy how lucky was I to be both an American and a Californian.”  There was never any doubt that this state was not the shining diamond of all fifty states and never did I think that we would find ourselves in the place in which, we do now: a miserable crap-hole of a state. Why it has become this way is way beyond me because at one time, it was very conservative, elected many distinguished Republican and moderate Democrats whereas now, it has become so bad that the people—many of them ignorant and inattentive—voted to increase their taxes; how the heck could something like this happen in a sensible state?
Recalled Governor Gray Davis, Democrat
I think that we knew things were going to go south back in the 1990’s as we voted in some moderate to leaning left RINO governors and then lo and behold, we got the Democrat ‘reformer,’ Gray Davis.  Now, Governor Davis did some things that riled up the electorate and before you knew it, we were using one of our BIG THREE constitutionally-guaranteed rights—the power of recall—to remove him from office.  However, instead of the people voting for a solid Republican like Tom McClintock for the vacated gubernatorial post, they voted for star power, elected Hollywood mogul and actor, Arnold Swartzenegger, and everything went to hell rather quickly.  At first, it did not start out that way but as time went by, we noticed that the man could never lean to the right, only to the left and that made him a creature of the Democrats and not one of the GOP, who favored a more conservative course of action.  Now, we have the aged veteran, Jerry Brown, sitting in the governor’s mansion in Sacramento and many of us would love to send him packing but with all the extra voters thanks to giving illegal aliens driver’s licenses, that is not going to happen next month.
California Governor Jerry Brown, Democrat
The worst thing about all of this is that the man, Governor Brown, that is, is going to possibly challenge Hillary Clinton and possibly Elizabeth Warren for the Democratic nomination for the presidency in two years.  The man is as old as Methuselah but it would seem that maybe for him, the fourth time will be the charm.  He has tried three previous times to grab the nomination so he could become president but cooler heads always seemed to prevail and we ended up with Bill Clinton the third time around.  Who would vote for a man this old to BEGIN a presidency is beyond me, at least Reagan was somewhat younger—in his seventies—at the time of his first election to the White House back in 1980 whereas Governor Brown is at or close to being 80 years-old NOW.  God help us and help the nation!  Okay, that will do it for this post and for the week so let’s head on out to the end of it!

Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

PLAYING UP A STORM
I want to thank everyone for having joined me this week in a wide variety of topics, conversations, and topics; all the while, I am undergoing some pretty nasty dental stuff. You know, last week, Barack Obama went to the United Nations and he’s up there giving some sort of half-baked speech about how ‘us and the Muslims are one-and-the-same.’  He was attempting to tell the fricking Islamic world that we, meaning the United States and Islam are like one big happy family, the man is a fricking apologist for the enemy and as long as he holds his place in government, we will always be at risk.  You see, I believe that once one is a ‘Muslim,’ very few ever truly deviate from the course, as the penalty for apostasy is nothing more than DEATH to the offender.  It is not a nice death either, it is one in which, if you are lucky, you meet your end on the gallows or if you are not, at the hands of the swordsman.  Sometimes, the sword is set aside and when the TV cameras begin rolling, they use a fricking SAW.  President Obama, YOU need to wake the hell up and quit always trying to make nice with these fricking barbarians!  Okay, that will do it, we will meet again in 2015 and we will pick up then.  Ciao!

Stinkbug’s Closing Words:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by the Firm, British Lions, Jimmy Page and Roy Harper, and Mott. What’s more, we also recommend buying CDs by Andy Fraser, Paul Rodgers, Mott the Hoople, Led Zeppelin, Paul Rodgers and Queen, and Backstreet Crawler. In addition to that, be sure to buy CDs by the second grouping of bands: Widowmaker, Crawler, Robert Plant, Bad Company, the Yardbirds, Free, Ian Hunter, Paul Kossoff, Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!

This is me as a chef during the 1980's when we took a group photograph for a Chefs de Cuisine yearbook. At the time, I was working at a hotel in Bakersfield, CA, down on Union Avenue. It was still somewhat nice and the area was still the original "restaurant row" of the city. Now, I am 69 years old and work over in Santa Barbara, CA, as a food and beverage director for a fine-dining country club.
