“Political Topics and Essays, Part Two-Hundred-and-Fifty-Nine: Chef T discusses the Kern County Fair’s Musical Acts, then discusses a Tribute Band he would have loved to form, then concludes the Week by telling everyone HOW important their Votes are—don’t waste them!” by Chef Tiresias Helenus Grinikeodopuloposlus

The first CD for today is by the British rock-and-roll band, Mott the Hoople, a brand-new recording featuring the cream of the band’s stage shows.  The CD is entitled, “In Performance 1970-1974,” (2008) and it captures the best performances this thunderous band ever did over the course of its halcyon days.  You will love it, so by all means, people, please go to Amazon.com and grab the CD now.  The second CD for today is the next one by Paul Rodgers, this time doing what he does best and that is performing live.  The name of the CD is “Live in Glasgow,” it came out in 2008 and is a great album with a wonderful cast of musicians.  We know you will love it so go to Amazon.com and buy it now!  In fact, pick both of these CDs up at prices that are right for you and if you are an Amazon.com Prime member and you buy brand-new, you can get them in as little as 48 hours or less.

FALL SESSION 2014

BLOGPOST #1,407 AT THE AICP-END

I am Grateful to have come to Bakersfield during the Kern County Fair!
Bakersfield, CA, 09-28-2014 Sunday: Welcome to Sunday, the final day of the workweek for any blogger here at the AICP-END and most likely, my final appearance for the year 2014.  I have had a blast discussing the issues of the day with you all and have to say that I am so glad that I came to Bakersfield during the heady days of the Kern County Fair; I must say the folks living in this county have a wonderful fair.  Almost every night, they have FREE musical acts in the grandstand arena, on Thursday, we have to see the ageless band of Kansas, a group I had no idea was still around.  I can remember listening to them on the radio back in the 1970’s and it was exciting to see them live on stage.  We also will get the opportunity to see the Ohio Players (oh, yeah, baby!), George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, uh, the Fab Four—a Beatles tribute group—and also Evolution, a tribute to Journey.  You know, I once had a thought about the tribute band I would love to form, the one I would want to put together would have been one of the greatest ever; alas, I am too old to do it now so perhaps someone else will use the idea.  Here’s what I thought:
The Summer of Love/Psychedelic Sixties Tribute Group
I would have loved to have a tribute to the Summer of Love/the Psychedelic Sixties and would need many talented, multi-instrumentalists and vocalists.  We would need women who could play instruments and who could sing like Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, and of course, Patti Santos.  We would need a man who could sing like Jim Morrison, one like Marty Balin, another like Paul Kantner, and Jorma Kaukonen.  We would need a lineup of at least three guitarists, a bassist, keyboards, violin-fiddle, drums, percussion, and maybe even a flute as Grace Slick played the flute.  In essence, we would do the music of the Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, the Quicksilver Messenger Service, Spirit, Big Brother and the Holding Company, It’s A Beautiful Day, the Chambers Brothers, and Country Joe and the Fish.  We would also do Hot Tuna (the first three albums), Moby Grape, the Grassroots, Iron Butterfly, Norman Greenbaum, Steppenwolf, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Canned Heat.  So you see, we would need a group of about 7-8 people who could move around on instruments and vocals to do selected songs from each band’s repertoire.  I believe that a band such as this touring the United States and the world would bring a great deal of joy to its listeners, I believe something like this has not been tried so why not put together a group that could do it.  People would love to hear the music and would turn out in droves, I am telling you, it would work.
We could also do an English Version of the Summer of Love/Psychedelic Sixties…
In fact, we could also do a British version featuring psychedelic music from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Kinks, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Pink Floyd, the Moody Blues, Family, and even the Yardbirds.  There are other minimal British acts that one could include such as Blossom Toes, Hawkwind, and several others in the set list and believe you me, we could have massive turnout and make lots of money.  I would urge anyone out there looking to form a tribute band of some sort to consider this idea as we have way too many Beatles bands, Van Halen, Rolling Stones, and a whole host of others that we do not need yet another addition to a crowded field.  Musicianship is important, being able to do several styles is highly important and everyone must be able to look the part.  I always wanted to be in show business and even though I attempted to do so when I was a young man, I never broke through other than playing in local bars and clubs back in the 1960’s and 1970’s.  God bless those with the fire in their bellies who want to perform night after night for adoring fans.
Now for the Serious Stuff…
Okay, we do not have a great deal of time left us so let us conclude on a couple of notes.  First, the elections on November 04 are going to be extremely critical to the current and future welfare of this nation.  I urge everyone if you are not up-to-date on politics in your area, please enlighten yourself so you know for what and for whom you should vote.  One thing I can tell you is that this nation cannot continue down the path upon which, President Obama has put it.  We have threats both within and without and I shudder to think what might happen to us if we fail to meet them and to deal with them in a way favorable to both the United States and our allies.  When we hear that, we have a group that would like to begin lopping of the heads of innocent within the HOME country (Australia).  I am telling you, if that happened in the United States —whether it’s ISIS or the narcoterrorists—I believe Barack Obama would be out of office the next day.  Sure, he would not want to go but a cabal of Democrats, Republicans, and independents would force him to resign his post in the same way the legislators of the 1970’s forced Richard M. Nixon to step down.  I believe that if Obama feels that if something horrible such as a beheading in a public place happened that maybe he could somehow remain in power is flat out wrong.  Do not think that way, Mr. President, you would have to go.
President Ronald Wilson Reagan- the Shining City on the Hill: America
I also hope that we see a return to some sort of normalcy across the country following the November Elections because if we keep going down this ultra-left path, it is going to destroy the Shining City on the Hill as President Ronald Wilson Reagan called it.  The United States is indeed the beautiful place he said it was as there is more freedom, more opportunities to make wealth, and more chances for people to move ahead than in any other country around the world.  My family came here from a foreign land, I was born here, first generation so I know what they thought and I know what I think.  I would have never wanted to be born anywhere else; the value of citizenship in this country is worth more than all the gold worldwide.  We need to protect our nation and to prevent it from becoming another leftwing shit-hole, no different from any other.  All right, that will do it, let’s head on out to the end, shall we? ilH
VOTE ON NOVEMBER 04, 2014!

FAIRFIELD HALLS LIVE
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION
THE COSMOS ROCKS
We are winding down this grouping of bands as we have maybe another week, possibly two, before we move onto King Crimson.  Every CD we have advertised here at the blog is superb, we do more than I believe any other similar blog does and that is one of the reasons WHY people should elect to visit us daily.  We love the CD format, of course, at first it was problematic because one of the things we all loved was the OLD album art.  Virtually every album cover was a unique remembrance for the music contained within and now, we have CD covers featuring very little of interest.  The fact that one can buy their music in digital form has cost many fine artists jobs in record design, something I find to be terribly tragic.  Ah well, that is an old man talking, I hope to see you next year so remember—your vote counts so do not waste it on losers and bums!  Take care, friends, we will meet again, tomorrow, you will see your friend and mine, the GREAT Chef Jimmy Hall!  Welcome him with open arms!

Stinkbug’s Closing Words:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by the Firm, British Lions, Jimmy Page and Roy Harper, and Mott. What’s more, we also recommend buying CDs by Andy Fraser, Paul Rodgers, Mott the Hoople, Led Zeppelin, Paul Rodgers and Queen, and Backstreet Crawler. In addition to that, be sure to buy CDs by the second grouping of bands: Widowmaker, Crawler, Robert Plant, Bad Company, the Yardbirds, Free, Ian Hunter, Paul Kossoff, Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!

  1. Chef T finishes his stint at the AICP-END by discussing his idea for a Psychedelic Sixties/Summer of Love tribute group in which, a stellar class of musicians/vocalists would be able to perform all of the songs of the era. Included in the lineup would be the Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Country Joe and the Fish, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and It’s a Beautiful Day. Also included would be the Association, the Youngbloods, the Grassroots, the Turtles, the Lovin’ Spoonful, Paul Revere and the Raiders and of course, Creedence Clearwater Revival. This could be an amazing act but it would require a wide range of male and female vocalists atop the required musicianship to be able to do everything from Jimi Hendrix to Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, and Patti Santos. In addition to this, one could do an English version featuring the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Who, Eric Burden and the Animals, and the Yardbirds. Maybe one could even find a vocalist who do Family, too, plus we would also add the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Blossom Toes, Traffic, and of course, a cut or two off the first Led Zeppelin album as that was at the extreme end of the era. If anyone out there has the money and the will to fund an endeavor such as this, God bless you, it would be the greatest tribute act in the world! Please join us to find out more of what Chef Tiresias has to say, you won’t be disappointed.
