“Political Topics and Essays, Part Two-Hundred-and-Fifteen: Lilah discusses the Hurricanes threatening the Hawaiian Islands Last Week, sorry for having Overlooked it, we just had so much other stuff to discuss!” by Chef Lilah Paulikovich

--> --> --> ---------------------
The first CD for today is the 18th (counting the two CDs released by the spinoff group, Mott or the two by the British Lions) release by the British rock group, Mott the Hoople, entitled, “The Collection: the Best of Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople.”  This album was the next best-of compilation the band put out, a great one, too, one we highly recommend.  You need to buy this CD now, definitely NOW! The second CD for today is the eighth solo album by Mott the Hoople’s frontman, Ian Hunter.  The album is entitled, “YUI Orta,” which came out in 1990 and features both the artist and long-time guitarist friend, Mick Ronson, perhaps one of the best CDs the artist has ever done.  We urge everyone to zip on over to Amazon.com and buy this album and the one that came out prior to it so go there NOW!

SUMMER SESSION 2014

BLOGPOST #1,363 AT THE AICP-END

Downhill Friday!
Bakersfield, CA, 08-15-2014 Friday: One thing we failed to mention earlier in the week were the two major hurricanes approaching the Hawaiian Islands.  I was living here—obviously!—when Hurricane Iniki hit the islands, it was a dark and scary time.  At first, the storm was coming straight towards Maui from the north and everywhere people were preparing for a devastating strike.  However, at the last minute, it veered suddenly towards the west, swung over to Kauai and hit them a horrible blow.  Several people died, many were left homeless, it was a very difficult time and it took local contractors beefed up with outside workers to put everything back to normal.  Now, at the time of this writing, we are awaiting landfall on the Big Island of Hawaii, it would appear that the eastern city of Hilo is going to receive the big hit; maybe, we will be lucky and will head either south or north and the following storm might go with it.
Seldom do Tropical Storms hit the Hawaiian Islands so a doubleheader is very unique!
The islands are generally in a ‘safe zone’ of sorts in that we do not get many devastating hurricanes but when we do, they are destructive.  I live and work up on the slopes of Haleakala, above the clouds in Kula, so I am relatively safe from any storm.  Sure, we get the strong winds pummeling our homes and occasionally blowing down some trees but not like the folks who live down along the north shore from Paia to Wailuku do.  Many times these people have to vacate and head upcountry on the dormant volcano to wait out the storm in the various shelters we set up to house them.  In some ways, it is exciting and in others quite mortifying but in the end we all place faith in both God and in the local Gods, it’s good to have omnipotent friends on all sides!
Normally, the North Shore is the place that gets hit the worst
Sadly, I was away from the islands at the time I wrote these articles having come to Bakersfield about a week in advance so I could conduct some business here on the Mainland.  My family is hunkered down back home awaiting the end, which you and I both know is not going to happen, but when you see the signs of storm in the skies, it can be very sobering.  I do not know how many of you have had the opportunity to visit Hawaii, but when you stand out in the diminishing countryside on a moonless night and look up at the stars, you realize just how insignificant you are in the eyes of the universe.  For one thing, you see way more stars here in Hawaii than you do anywhere on the Mainland, it is impressive to note that one is standing alone on a small speck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with 2,500 miles to the Mainland and about the same to Asia.  Some people who move here from the Mainland have a difficult time dealing with this; we call it ‘rock fever’ and it makes them want to get back home to the ‘wide open spaces.’
Isn’t it amazing how prescient Rush Limbaugh is when it comes to knowing what the Democrats are going to do?
I have to admit—to veer off the path upon which, we embarked—that I am amazed at how prescient Rush Limbaugh is when it comes to knowing the Democrats.  Last week, we saw the Center for Disease Control bring home the first two American Ebola patients to the homeland so they could treat them under better circumstances.  They gave both the infected doctor and a the nurse an experimental vaccine to fight the effects of this deadly disease.  Rush said that within a matter of days, the liberal news media would begin asking, “WHY did you not share this vaccine with the people of Africa?” By this, they meant, “WHY do we take care of Americans but will not help the poor dark-skinned peoples of the world with the lifesaving medicine we have developed from the tobacco plant.  Now, I thought it might take a day or two but Rush made the claim on Wednesday, August 06, 2014 and a day later, reporters were asking the president as to WHY he did not or will not send the Africans the vaccine.
The Democrats have brought Ebola to North America
We have reached the end of the post for today but you know I am always amazed at how well Mr. Limbaugh knows the Democrats; he has them pegged to the board and does so every day.  This is why all Republicans, conservatives and proponents of the truth follow him and others like him who does their best to educate the ignorant so that maybe one day, they will undergo an epiphany of sorts and become part of the inner circle of American patriots.  We need to work hard to save this nation, it is worth saving, sure, we do not always have to agree with everything it does nor do we have always to agree with its leaders.  However, we must swear our allegiance to the flag and to the Constitution of the United States that is something ALL of us must do, even the insignificant as your California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi called a GOP congressional representative last week for pointing out the hypocrisy of the Democrats.  We owe a debt of gratitude to this nation for allowing us to accomplish the things we have in life; if only we could pass those things onto our children but thanks to President Obama, that may not be possible.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the Voters rejected Nancy Pelosi?

As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the AICP-END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JUGULA
THE FIRM
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!
SHAKEN AND STIRRED
FAME AND FORTUNE
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!

To buy paintings, recipes, or full article series, please send us your information by mailing us at P.O. Box #20669, Bakersfield, CA, 93309-0669.  You can call about paintings at 661-374-1430; we will take all calls and provide to you as much information as is available.  It is time that we begin taking the next step and to immortalize Beverly Carrick for eternity and begin moving towards the establishment of a website of our own! God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!
NOW AND ZEN
OUTRIDER
I am happy that we have come to the end of the regular week; that means tomorrow and Sunday, we are on short time if you know what I mean.  I always love vacationing here in Kern County, yes, indeed, it is hot, but it’s also hot and humid in Hawaii.  Unfortunately, we seldom get into the nineties; it’s almost always in the eighties or less.  We have trade winds that blow almost all of the time; however, on the rare occasions when they stop, then the temperatures can go way up, humidity lessens, and everyone is irritable with one another.  In the old days, we were always burning off sugar cane but now that is becoming a part of our distant past, something that many of us who have lived here our entire lives lament the loss of, it’s truly very sad.  Progress being what it is, moreover, one moves and takes the good with the bad.  Have a great day, please buy some merchandise, leave some comments, become a follower, God bless one and all and I will see you all tomorrow morning at 12:01 a.m.  Aloha!

Stinkbug’s Closing:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by the Firm, Bad Company, Robert Plant, British Lions, Jimmy Page and Roy Harper, Led Zeppelin, Crawler, Widowmaker, and Mott. What’s more, we also recommend buying CDs by Andy Fraser, Ian Hunter, Mott the Hoople, and Backstreet Crawler, Free, the Yardbirds, Paul Kossoff, and everyone else we advertise here and/or buy a book by any of the authors we advertise here! In addition to that, we occasionally offer cookbooks and other oddball items so always pay attention to whatever you find in the tabs on the right side of the home page, everything you need is there!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!

  1. Chef Lilah discusses the rareness of the Hawaiian Islands suffering a direct strike from a tropical storm or hurricane, writing about one week behind the events. She discusses how the islanders prepared for the storm and their gratitude that they missed her home islands. She also discusses the fact that thanks to the Democrats, Ebola now has been brought to the Americas and ponders is it possible that the government might like it to get loose and create a plague across the two continents? If something like that happened, it would solve many problems within the population such as joblessness, rising apathy, and unhappiness with the ruling party. Sinister and somewhat crazy, she knows but still—why did they bring it here?
