1,1084th BLOGPOST AT THE AICP-END
Hawaii Health Connector
Bakersfield, CA, 02-17-2014 Monday: Aloha, my friends, it is good to be back and I am so excited that we have finally added another category in which, we can share our ideas and maybe come together and find consensus on how do we rid the country of Obamacare.  My husband, Eric and I have five kids, two from my first marriage and three with him.  All but one is on his own when it comes to providing the kids with medical insurance so that puts both Eric and I and four of our kids onto one healthcare plan.  All I can say is that we are paying close to two grand per month, which is UP, NOT down as Barack Obama promised us when he was running around the country telling us HOW good it was all going to be.  We can afford the cost for the time being thanks to the fact that both Eric and I have high-powered jobs in the hospitality industry.  However, that is not going to last forever and in time, hotel and restaurant owners are going to have to find some way by which, they can costs; otherwise, they will have to shutter their doors and head into retirement!
Obamacare—we know what’s in it, NOW Defund it!
As you should know, the cost of everything here in the islands is higher than what it is on the mainland and that includes the cost of buying healthcare not only for one’s family, but also for all of the employees, too!  Our exchange is the Hawaii Healthcare Connector and like all the other thirty-plus states running their own exchanges, we can spend hours on the phone waiting to speak with someone before they drop the call.  It is maddening so we do our best to have representatives of the different companies come in and then we do our best to give our employees choice but for doing it for family members, especially the kids, it can become problematic as there is NO affordable plan!  The problem is here, everything costs way more than it would in Nebraska or in Iowa while wages are approximate to what they are in California unless one is an employer or works for some branch of government, whether it’s town or city, county, state, or federal.  There are only so many of those jobs to go around, however, and that means those in search of entry-level positions have a difficult time in finding a job that will help them get established in life and that, friends, is not good.
The Flag of Nebraska
Another problem we have here is the fact that we resemble California when it comes to politics in that we are pretty much a one-party state.  Sure, we have some members of the Republican Party but one finds them few and far while Democrats proliferate everywhere!   Even the GOP governors we might have had are closet liberals as otherwise, they would never appeal to the masses.  My hope is that one day, when the Democrats have destroyed everything through their inability even to consider doing business with our side is going to be the ultimate unending of all for which they stand.  Big government and everything that goes with it can only last so long before things begin to resemble Detroit and the other great American cities that have fallen into bankruptcy.  I mean, how we can prosper as a nation when there are 92 million or more Americans not working because without the flow of tax monies, there is no way to sustain the unsustainable.  I mean, it would go against all the laws of reality to think that we can keep the bulk of the American people on the dole, it’s impossible!

The City of Detroit—bankrupt and broke!
Here in Hawaii, we have a major problem with the down-and-out, the failed, and the bums because they find a way to make it to the islands because only for a month or two during the winter, living outdoors is not a problem.  These people live on the beaches, they live in the West Maui Mountains, they live on the backside of Haleakala and anywhere else, they can find refuge.  Yes, they work; they sign up at temporary agencies and then work for businesses in need of part-time labor like furniture stores that need extra hands on deliveries or even in hotels and restaurants.  The rest of the time, they spend hanging out at the beaches, smoking pakalolo, and doing all sorts of negative things like using harder drugs.  We lock these people up and do our best to return them to the mainland but like illegal aliens slipping across the mainland’s southern borders, they manage to return to our beautiful islands.   This is becoming a major problem and at some point, our social services system is not going to be able to cope with this onslaught.   We need a determined government not seeking additional votes to restore our islands to a semblance of what they were rather than leading them down the wrong path to their inevitable destruction.  We can only handle a certain amount of people and at some point, we are going to find ourselves looking more and more like the mainland!
The Island of Maui
Anyhow, I enjoy the diversion of coming into Bakersfield, California, where I get the opportunity to see how bad things truly are here, which I can then take with me when I return home and share it with the people in power.  I realize our big push at the present moment is one in which, all sugar cane, pineapple needs to go, and more houses put in for the growing numbers making their way here.  I remember back in the 1990’s, there was a big division in the minds of the elders running the four counties, one side wanted modernization and constant building to soothe the fears of the building trades while others sought to maintain the traditional ways that had sustained for so long.  Well, anyone who has been to the islands knows which side won the fight and it’s not the ones who want to keep things like they were but those who want to make us into a mid-Pacific Disneyland!  We need to find a way to stop this as otherwise, we will lose the one thing that has lured those with money for more than a century and that is the tropical beauty of four principal islands: Oahu, Maui (which includes Lanai, Molokai, and Kahoolawe), Kauai, and the Big Island.  Virtually all of them have spirited building programs and it’s clear that the old ways are fast disappearing!
The Island of Molokai
Well, that more or less does it with the local scene back in Hawaii but it is somewhat interesting to note that Target is coming to Maui, which means, I hope it is problem-free unlike the rest of the chain.  The idea that U.S. credit cards, which lack imbedded chip technology, are open for plunder should shock the heck out of every American because once again, instead of being a world leader, we are nothing more than a follower is!  What’s worse, the only reason we are following the Europeans and the Asians is because the hacking crimes have gotten so out of control that we have no choice but to climb aboard and make things right!  Thankfully, no one in my family or my circle of friends has ever had their identity stolen or their cards hacked but there is a first time for everything and like it or not, what with the inflow of new people to Maui, crime continues to increase!  I almost wish I was living in French Polynesia or maybe even on the southern end of Australia or Tasmania.  Maybe one day, friends, I would rather live around salt-water crocs than a bunch of purse-snatching, drug-abusing thieves!
Target Store Logo
This is going to do it for today, I think we have had a great opening post, which means tomorrow and for the rest of the week, we will consider national and world problems as well as anything else that might pop its head in the backdoor.  Since my husband is at home minding the kids and the business, I am staying with some friends living here in Oildale, which means we will go out honky-tonking every night and maybe towards the end of the stint, a day trip down to either Los Angeles or up north to the outlet mall in Tulare.  I always enjoy coming to California because it gives me a chance to shop at places I might not otherwise see as well as go to the famous country and western bars that dot the area.  I can pull on my sequined cowboy boots and have a great time, my husband always says, “Go have fun, Li!”

LOVINTHINGS
LEAVIN IT ALL BEHIND
As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the AICP-END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.
MORE GOLDEN GRASS
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!
SIXTEEN GREATEST HITS
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!
MOVE ALONG
To buy paintings, recipes, or full article series, please send us your information by mailing us at P.O. Box #20669, Bakersfield, CA, 93309-0669.  You can call about paintings at 661-834-5185; we will take all calls and provide to you as much information as is available.  It is time that we begin taking the next step and to immortalize Beverly Carrick for eternity and begin moving towards the establishment of a website of our own! God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!
ALLOTA MILEAGE
I wanted to mention something last time I was here but forgot to do so but I wanted to thank Steven Spielberg for his fabulous movie, “War Horse.”  I realize I am a little bit behind the times (even more so now!) but credit needs to go to the famed director as it was a wonderful movie!  I mean, who among the living population of the Earth does NOT know that horse movies are typically sad, tearjerkers in fact, and I am telling you, my husband, Eric and I were almost blubbering at the end of the lengthy film.  We expect me to be the one with tears running down my cheeks but even he had some tears under his eyes.  The movie was excellent, worth five stars and it should have gotten much more attention from the Academy than it did.  The recreation of World War I’s Western Front with the brave Tommies heading out across No-Man’s Land was as amazing as was “Saving Private Ryan,” another cinematic masterpiece if ever there was one!  I would urge all of my readers to make sure you get the film from Netflix or wherever else you go and screen it for the entire family, it was simply among the best films we have ever seen!  Okay, aloha, I will see you tomorrow, please buy some CDs, some books, and by all means, leave me some comments and I will respond to each of them! See you tomorrow (I know, I already said it but I’m saying it again!). Bye!

Stinkbug’s Closing:
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by the Grass Roots,  It’s A Beautiful Day,  Moby Grape, and everyone else we have advertised and/or buy a cookbook from Amazon.com—we want to make some money here so help us out by buying something!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!
