1,061st BLOGPOST AT THE AICP-END!
HUMP DAY!
Bakersfield, CA, 10-17-2013 Thursday: Day by day, things seem to be declining in our nation, it is very troubling indeed!  The problem is, the politicians battle one another over the citizens of this nation and could care less about what we want, need, or desire.  The whole Obamacare package was nothing but a pack of devious lies, woven together by President Obama soon after he took office back in 2009.  I remember as though it were yesterday the way they conducted business behind closed doors, the way they denied Republicans access.  At the time, I assumed that it was punishment for things the previous administration had done to the Dems but then I began investigating the headlines in a variety of places rather than just getting it from the big three television networks and two cable news outlets.  What I discovered was that the Republicans under the Bush Administration had done everything in their power to mollify and to work with the Dems who did their best to stymie them at every turn, at every intersection, and at every corner.  Harry Reid was the most obstinate man I have ever seen running the Senate and he fought tooth and nail, kept digging in his feet and fighting hard to give the Bush Administration very few of the things for which it asked.  In fact, they chipped away at the façade of the administration all the while this pundit, that comedian, that talking head attacked, attacked, attacked from all sides hardly without ever letting up—only the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, put them on hold for a very short time.
President George W. Bush
The thing that amazes me is that I was aware beneath the surface precisely what was going on but I drank the Kool-Aid like most everyone else and thought that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and everyone else on his side to be frauds, to be fakes, to be phonies because they never fought back, never answered the charges!  I came to see that President Bush saw that coming out, fighting in the mud pits of public opinion was beneath the office of the presidency and that he held the office in higher regard than he did his own image.  I now realize that he underwent so many hate-filled attacks from the likes of fools on the comedy channels, MSNBC, the newspapers, actors, musicians, virtually everyone in the Democrat orbit was out to get the man all because he managed to win the 2000 Presidential Election and then reelection in 2004.  The level of hatred for the man dwarfed virtually that of any other president and yet, Mr. Bush always came out and did the office justice, even in a firestorm of criticism that was so bad that the nation’s elected leaders in the House and Senate were willing to ruin the U.S. military in the hopes of damaging him!  What is wrong with these people, I now ask myself, how could they be so callous, so thoughtless, so careless that they would destroy the nation just to bring an end to George W. Bush, a man of heart, a man who cares deeply about the country?
President Barack Obama
Now, we have an administration that seeks to pit one American against another and who will do whatever it takes to keep the nation at one another’s throats for the rest of his time in office.  President Barack Obama is now the master puppeteer, he is the manipulator, he is the one who makes everyone dance to his own tune but now, it is beginning to wear thin.  I believe that many among the less-educated voters now see that something is direly wrong, it makes the office of the presidency look bad to have a man who is a master instigator, who will do whatever it takes to bring everyone around him he considers to be an enemy down with him into destruction.  I ask myself, can this nation survive another three years of this madness, can we save the nation if Democrats and Republicans do not band together and put an end to this insanity come November 2014?   Even the election does not guarantee that he will abide by whatever happens, we know that he rules by executive fiat, that he has no problem issuing executive orders declaring what law is valid and what law is not.  He has no problem circumventing congress and all of these things combined sets the stage for worse abuses of power to come.  All of us as Americans need to be fearful of this style of governing because this is not what the Founders envisioned, they set up a system of checks and balances by which the three bodies of government would keep an eye on the other two holding them accountable for any untoward acts.

Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid
I hate to say this but for too many years, I have walked the line believing that the Democrats had my best interests at heart but as I have said before, I am a member of the Green Party, I believe in environmental issues and vote Democrat because I felt they best represented how I feel about these issues.  Now, I see that we must all come together and first put the nation back onto its track so we can give her another 260-plus years of life that is our moral and sworn duty as Americans, not to give carte blanche to a political leader who obviously does not feel he’s an “American.”  He governs us as though he were the leader of a nation such as Venezuela, Cuba, of others in the Third World around us and that, my friends, is not what the nation needs.  I give the Founding Fathers great thanks because they were men of vision, of enlightenment, of seeing the pitfalls of the future and did their best to fix them.   We need to return to constitutional rule and to keep the nation on track and then when we put this horrid period of name-calling, of calling people “racists,” “homophobes,” and a whole host of other nasty names and then we can help Americans in need of help.  We are going to help NO one if we keep going down this path, we will all be in dire straits and this is NOT how the Founders created the United States of America!  We are Balkanized as a nation now, we are full of people who do not wish to assimilate but who wish to continue their Third World ways here in the shining city on the hill.  That is a recipe for disaster, plain and simple, we need to fight every step of the way and to end this devious attempt to force a coup d’ tat on the American people!
The Green Party
Welcome to the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, this is the place where Americans of all stripes, colors, ideas, and socio-economic backgrounds come together and share ideas with one another.  It also is Hump Day for us, meaning that we work seven days a week so the middle of the week for us is Thursday and not Wednesday, as it used to be for people who had 40-hour-per-week jobs.  Do you remember those days when you had a job that might become a career, you know, prior to the advent of Obamacare?  Those were the days, my friends, yes, those were the days.   Today, I would like to give a shout out to Chef Pedro Munoz by doing one of his quickbread recipes he did back on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 for a delicious Carrot-Nut Quickbread, one of the most popular baking soda-baking powder breads!  I realize we did a recipe for carrot cake a few days ago but I am telling you that this one is the perfect loaf, one I know all of you are going to enjoy so here we go:
Chef Pedro Munoz

(#064) QUICK CARROT-NUT BREAD

Quick carrot-nut bread is one of my all-time favorites as it is not only tasty and delicious as well as tender of crumb and crust but also a great way to utilize leftover bits and pieces of carrots and nuts.  Serve it to your guests on Sunday brunch and watch them “pig-out!”

Yield: one 9-x-5-inch loaf pan / Mis-en-place: 15 minutes prep time / 1-1.5 hours bake time:

Qty.
Measure
Item
Other
2
Cups
All-purpose flour

1
Tablespoon
Powdered milk

1
Tablespoon
Bob’s Red Mill soy flour

2
Teaspoons
Baking soda

1
Teaspoon
Baking powder

.5
Teaspoon
Salt

.25
Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon

2
Cups
Grated carrots

2
Cups
Finely-chopped pecans

3
Each
Large AA eggs

1
Cup
Granulated sugar

1
Cup
Vegetable oil

1.25
Teaspoons
Vanilla extract

Powdered sugar

Method:

1.      Mis-en-place: have everything ready with which to work! Number one thing to do is to prepare your 9-x-5-inch loaf pan: use only reflective bakeware such as stainless steel or aluminum and never use dark pans.  Yes, the former are more expensive than the latter but the darker the pan(s), the darker the crusts on your bread(s).  Strive for professionalism and you will never go wrong. Spray the pan with PAM (or some such other food release spray), line with paper or a paper baking cup, and spray the paper, too, so the bread will peel away with ease—set aside.

2.      Preheat standard oven to 350°F or convection oven with the fan “on” to 300°F.  Double-sift the first SEVEN ingredients together and then stir in the carrots and nuts; set aside.

3.      Then, with the aid of an electric mixer equipped with a paddle attachment, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and creamy.  Add the oil and beat again, until the mixture is “creamed.” Add the vanilla extract and then fold the DRY ingredients into the WET using the least amount of rotations possible.  Never worry about “lumps” as they disappear during the baking process.  Scoop the batter into the prepared pan, shake gently to settle it, and place it on the middle rack of your preheated oven.

4.      Bake for 55 minutes and then check the loaf for doneness, as ovens tend to vary temperature-wise.  Insert a paring knife or cake tester into the center of the loaf and if it exits “dry,” it is finished and if not, continue baking for another 10-15 minutes.  Should it begin to brown too much on top, cover it with a piece of foil and continue baking until the loaf shows it is ready.

5.      Remove it from the oven at that point and place it atop a cooling rack. Note: if the loaf is just a touch underdone, it will finish in the pan for 2-3 minutes so always err on the side of pulling it out slightly prematurely rather than overbaking it.  After 3-4 minutes, rap the pan—gently!—to loosen the loaf, then remove it and finish the cooling process.  If you need to serve it immediately, use your sharpest serrated-edge bread knife and slice it.  Serve with plenty of fresh butter or better yet—honey butter—and powdered sugar on the side and some sprinkled over the loaf and its slices.

6.      Always wrap leftover slices or loaves in plastic wrap and then in foil.  Seal airtight in Zip-Loc freezer bags and freeze.  There, they remain usable for 7-10 days and after that, throw them out and start anew.

This is one of my oldest and most beloved quickbreads, one you will enjoy time and again as will your guests and/or friends.   Remember, quickbreads are one of those never-fail options you have when you discover that you need a loaf for company that will soon be at your home or at your place of business and need to throw one together.  A bread such as this one lends itself to immediate formulation so keep the recipe handy in your personal cookbook and you will be prepared for whatever may come!  Who knows, maybe President Obama will come to your home and use you as a prop for one of his subpar plans he is trying to ramrod down the throats of the American people!
President Barack Obama

As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the AICP-END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.
FEARLESS
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!
BANDSTAND
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!
IT’S ONLY A MOVIE
To buy paintings, recipes, or full article series, please send us your information by mailing us at P.O. Box #20669, Bakersfield, CA, 93309-0669.  You can call about paintings at 661-834-5185; we will take all calls and provide to you as much information as is available.  It is time that we begin taking the next step and to immortalize Beverly Carrick for eternity and begin moving towards the establishment of a website of our own! God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!
BEST OF FAMILY
Thankfully, the midpoint of the week has come and gone and soon, in three more days, we will be heading back down south and then the next author comes strolling in the backdoor of the test kitchen!  I hope that they are not as disillusioned as I have been this week but the thing with the government shutdown, the one-sided name-calling coming from the left against everyone on the right is quite depressing!  Virtually everything I see is a calculated gambit at making the most people uncomfortable, angry, and upset and that, my friends, smacks of someone who has gone through life sans a human heart beating in his chest!  We do NOT punish World War II veterans by denying them from visiting their memorial nor do we put up a big superstructure so the Democrats can prance around with their illegal alien buddies.  You know, this is SO in your face that it is making me mad and I hope I do not open my mouth and begin targeting certain people with angry tirades!  God forbid I embarrass myself or the rest of the blog members here because I would hate to be the one who causes it to be closed down once again!  Anyhow, please buy some CDs by Family and the other bands we advertise, as all of them are exceptionally good, we do not advertise nor suggest for sale stuff we would not listen to ourselves, that is our guarantee to you!  See you tomorrow on Friday!
FIRST CUT (STREETWALKERS)
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Family, the Grateful Dead, the Association, the Byrds, and Spirit and/or buy a cookbook from Amazon.com—we want to make some money here so help us out by buying something!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
PEACE!
