DAY NUMBER 14 UNDER OBAMACARE!

“Personal Favorites, Part VIII: Chef Olaf admits to experiencing a Political Identity Crisis and then shows the Readership how to make the Hooter’s Turkish Pilaf Recipe, a Personal Favorite!” by Chef Olaf Bologolo

1,058th BLOGPOST AT THE AICP-END!
Obamacare—becoming a Major Disaster for the Democrats!
Bakersfield, CA, 10-14-2013 Monday: Hello and welcome fans, I am excited to be back at the one-and-only American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, the fastest growing online food and political experience available today!  We have been growing by leaps and bounds, as we plunge ahead into the final quarter of the year and then next year, we arrive at the mother of all elections, the 2014 midterms!  As you should know, I am a member of the Green Party of the United States so I vote Democrat, as that is the only party that represents my interests.  I have been a liberal all my life and I have committed time, resources, blood, sweat, and tears to push the party ahead on all fronts.  I think that progressivism is the only way a modern nation can address ALL societal fronts and that is because it cares about ALL people and not just the wealthy fat cats sitting atop the pyramid, getting fat off the lower classes.  Back during my last stint here at the AICP-END, I spoke glowingly of the Democrats and their hard work to make the nation a much more fair, caring place and the only thing with which, I differed, was the issue of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act which we spoke about in length back on March 18, 2013.  You see, I was fearful of what this act was going to do to American businesses and their employers because as we now see, there is pandemonium from one end of the country to the other!  People have learned that their costs are going UP and without a break in the speed with which they continue going up!  I am begging the powers that be at the time of this writing to please, work with the Republicans, they want to fix this impending mess that unfolds before our very eyes!
House Speaker John Boehner—fighting for the American People!
I began working on this blogpost on the fourth of this month as we tend to write about ten days ahead here at the blogsite in case something comes up that might force us off the Net for a short period of time.  I spent the week preparing for my time here in the Stinkbug chair by observing news around the country and one of the things I happened to notice was a growing support among all political parties for what Speaker John Boehner was attempting to do in stopping the government.  I was dismayed when I saw the President—a man for whom I voted twice!—acting childlike by shutting down the National Mall, forcing World War II veterans to forego visiting their memorial along with visitors from around the world who came to tour Washington, D.C., as well as various national parks.  Never before during a governmental shutdown—and there have been seventeen of note!—has the President of the nation done everything in his power to harm people so he could blame it on the opposition.  Things as disparate as the Head Start program to school lunches to medical services for cancer patients, ALL have suffered at the hands of President Barack Obama!  Sir, I must urge you to get on board with what the Republicans are trying to do—TO SAVE YOUR HEALTHCARE PLAN, SIR!—instead of beating a straw man with a baseball bat to save face.  We tire of the vindictiveness that you and your cronies have exercised in your fight to blame, blame, blame the Republicans, the time has come to assume the mantle of power, to grow up, and to negotiate with those across the aisle.
Defund Obamacare NOW!
I recall the 1995 shutdown of the federal government, all of the furloughed workers received their back pay without a problem, as did those on social security, welfare, and also the military members and their families.  Yet, the man leading this country continues to threaten the citizens of this nation they elected him to serve in order so he can destroy the Republicans.  It makes me sick to think that I helped elect this man to see him swear 24/7 that he is ALWAYS willing to talk to the Republicans while he almost never does.  When he does call them to the White House, many times the Democrats fail to show or if they do come, they read them the riot act and then throw them out of the building.  We expect our leaders to work together and to fix the things that matter to the people of this nation, this is so like the Third World dictatorial governments that is quite embarrassing for me to tell people, I am an “American!”
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid—time to go!
The time has come for the Democrat voters to let their congressmen-and-women as well as their senators and even their state government leaders that the time has come to put partisanship aside, hike up your pants, roll up your sleeves, and go to work for the American people!  We are not going to continue allowing this hegemony, this discord, this partisan strife to continue, at some point, the people of this country are going to place the blame exactly where it belongs.  They are going to place it on President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and a whole bunch of other smucks who think they can pull the wool over our eyes and schlep us sans Vaseline!  I am telling you, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is an embarrassment to this nation, he stands at his podium, mumbling, slobbering, acting like the foolish drone he is, I think the time is coming when EVERYONE living in this nation that is a citizen and who loves it to stand up and say, “enough’s enough!”  We need to remove these worthless bastards from office, we need to do it next year and the ones we cannot get out of office because their elections do not fall in next year’s cycle need to be recalled!
President Barack Obama—ashamed of himself!
Whoa!  I have opened my week with a great deal of anger in my heart, I am disgusted at all of this bullcrap and it had to come out at some point.  I think the reason WHY I feel the way I do is because I feel like these people professing to serve us have snookered me, which has left me angry as hell.  I may even vote as a Republican next year because we need to rid the country of as many elected Democrats and RINO Republicans as possible and fill their places with members of the Tea Party and others who will honestly help our nation to survive.  IF I have to listen to one more White House falsehood, I suggest the time is coming when we may have to impeach the man sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office—with his feet on the fricking desk no less!—because we must hold him accountable.
President Obama with his Feet on the Desk of the Oval Office—astounding!
Okay, when we do a new category here at the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, we usually give it 2-3 weeks to debut so it can catch up to the other time-honored blogposts and that is precisely what I have been told to do, to do the Personal Favorites catalog.  That means, I have to search through all of the posts and to find recipes that interest me and then redo them in the professional kitchens here at the blog’s editorial offices here in Oildale, California.  I must admit, I am quite excited to do this series because there are many recipes I love and admire by the other chefs writing here.  The one I have chosen for today is one by Chef Elmer K. Hootenstein on Wednesday, July 06, 2011 here at the blog, obviously, for Turkish Pilaf for home use!  He first made this side dish on April 02, 1986 at the job in which, he was the head chef and it is a very delicious rice dish, one I know everyone is going to admire and to love.  Let us delve into it now:
Chef Elmer K. Hootenstein—your Friend and Mine!

(#0891) TURKISH PILAF

Turkish pilaf—as envisioned by Chef Hootenstein is a mélange of savory spices, tender rice grains, and flavorful accompaniments, in essence, a wonderful side dish if ever there was one.  One of the things about menu-design is pairing a wide variety of different items together and then bringing them together through delicious side dishes that allow them to pick and choose, ultimately putting together a grand design of their own!  I think the Hooter has a masterpiece here on his hands and once you try it, you are going not only to delight yourself but everyone of your diners!

Servings: 4-6 servings / Mis-en-place: 1-1.15 hours

Item

2
Cups
Chicken broth

.25
Cup
Diced celery

1
Each
Bay leaf

.125
Cup
Chopped roasted peanuts

.125
Cup
Golden raisins

.125
Cup
Minced dates

1
Tablespoon
Melted butter

1
Teaspoon
Sesame oil

.5
Bunch
Coil fideo pasta, crumbled by hand

1
Cup
Jasmine rice

.5
Teaspoon
Kosher salt

1
Pinch
White pepper

.125
Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon

.5
Teaspoon
Ground turmeric

2
Teaspoons
Minced pimientos

1
Tablespoon
Freshly minced parsley

Method:

1.      Mis-en-place: have everything ready to work with.  Turn standard oven on to 375°F or convection oven to 325°F.  Put the chicken stock in a saucepot with the next FIVE ingredients and bring to a high simmer.

2.      In an ovenproof saucepot equipped with a tight-fitting lid, heat the butter and sesame oil over a medium-high flame.  Add the rice and the seasonings and begin to cook it.  Cook, stirring frequently, over medium heat until the rice has lost its opaqueness and has turned white.

3.      At this point, pour in the simmering broth and stand back: it will roar up in the pan and possibly splatter the stovetop so be careful and do not allow the liquid to scald you.

4.      Stir for a moment and allow the liquid to boil and sputter.  When the liquid is about the level of the rice, slap on the lid, let it boil a second or two longer, and then insert inside your preheated oven on its middle rack.  Cook for approximately 25 minutes and then check it.

5.      If the rice has absorbed all of the liquid, it’s done so remove it from the oven, fluff with a fork, and allow the steam to escape for a minute or two; then, stir in the final two ingredients and fluff up with the fork.

6.      At this juncture, it’s ready to serve or if using it later, remove it from the pot and into a shallow dish to cool.  When the rice is completely cool, cover with a piece of wax paper and refrigerate until needed.

7.      Reheat in the microwave oven by taking four soup cups and spraying the insides with PAM or some such other food release spray. If desired, place some diced pimientos, minced parsley and a few sautéed yellow onions in the bottom of the soup cup. Then, pack the rice into each cup, place in your microwave oven and reheat for about 3-5 minutes or until steaming hot.

8.      At that point, remove the cups from the microwave and slap each one down on a dinner plate so that it will loosen from the cups and exit. What you will see is a beautiful mound of steamed rice.  Now, all you have to do is to come up with the rest of the meal and you’re ready to go!

This rice dish is a wonderful accompaniment for Middle Eastern dishes such as Arabic or Israeli foods.  It’s one you may not use all of the time but when you need a specialty item, it’s a good one to whip out and make.
The Flag of Mexico
Rice dishes are as infinite as the stars are above us at night, there are as many different types one can put together that menus never become boring.  I always think that it is a good thing to change one’s menus about four times a year and to have print-outs every single night with at least 6-12 specials on it as well as a plethora of sides, vegetables, salads, you name it, I do it!  This is how one becomes a longtime successful chef and is able to keep the illegal aliens from stealing one’s job, something they almost inevitably will do!  Keep an eye on your staff, especially here now in California, a place where we have become an appendage of Greater Mexico!  Watch out for La Raza, they are doing their best to restore us to Mexico and doing it faster than I ever thought possible.  We will discuss this tomorrow!

A SONG FOR ME
We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!  Here’s another note: do NOT do business with Galkos Construction, Inc., those people are nothing but crooks as if you lease your system, you will never pay it off, plus you have to pay them for excess energy produced by your system, the electric company does not buy all of it nor do they!  AVOID GCI AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!
ANYWAY
We are selling recipes all the time and you can order things you would like copies of simply by mailing us your name, address, the recipe you would like and a check for $1.00.  You can buy an entire week’s worth of recipes when we do a series simply by sending us a check or money order (no cash please!) for $20 and we will have it out to you in the next day’s mail.  Please become a part of the AICP-END by sending us your names, addresses, and information and we will welcome all of you with open arms!

God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!
FEARLESS
Monday is over and done and I hope that all of my friends out there among the Internet’s hidden places are not angry with me over my seeming transformation from hardcore liberal to seeming conservative.  Look, when you no longer can afford to provide healthcare insurance to your employees, much less oneself, one has to move forward, change lest they fall by the side of the road, and lose everything to the Infernal Revenue Service!  These people are doing their best to force every American to enter into these healthcare exchanges that are collapsing from one end of the country to the other.  When I found out that the cost of ensuring my family and I was going to increase by over $3,000 per year, I began contemplating where I had gone wrong.  Then, after reading Chef Tobiason’s lengthy series of articles on the Constitution of the United States and how much the President of the United States was doing to subvert it, I began questioning my political identity!  We will discuss more of this tomorrow, have a great day, buy some of the CDs by Family because they are truly an awesome band!  See you tomorrow!
BANDSTAND
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Family, the Grateful Dead, the Association, the Byrds, and Spirit and/or buy a cookbook from Amazon.com—we want to make some money here so help us out by buying something!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
PEACE!
