979TH BLOGPOST AT THE AICP-END!

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev—surviving Chechen Thug

Bakersfield, CA, 07-27-2013 Saturday: Welcome to the Saturday edition of the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day, the place where we attempt to make the complex easy to understand as well as covering the topics that upset everyone else due to their intensity.   Last week, there was some anger stirred up by the recent copy of Rolling Stone Magazine as it glorified the surviving Boston Marathon Chechen thug, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover looking like some sort of rock-and-roll star.  As you know, we typically write about a week ahead so we can keep abreast and ahead of fellows and to prevent the government from ever shutting us down again.  For some reason, the once on-topic music-politics magazine has felt it needed to make this f---ing punk into some sort of a ROCK STAR.  Friends, I do believe that this tragic event says something negative about our country because like everything else, it is yet one more example of the lack of moral turpitude necessary in any nation seeking to be around for more than a few years.  Like everyone else, I used to read the magazine—when it was bigger, more pertinent, and not full of boy bands, idiots, and imbeciles among other things.  I guess when you continue losing readership due to lack of relevance, you do whatever you need to do to remain germane.  Unfortunately, this did not work well for the fading magazine and all I can say as assistant editor is “goodbye and good riddance!”
Tamerlan Tsarnaev—dead Chechen Thug
Yesterday, I was speaking to you about the issue of race in America and how fixing the problem has to do with one important thing: having an impartial and free press.  As I said, it is one thing to have pundits sharing their opinions and quite another to have reporters out there shilling for one side and one side only every fricking day of the week!  It is my belief that if we did not have the near-state-run media we now find ourselves cursed with, that a whole lot of other things problematic and painful would never make it to the front page of every major newspaper or be the topic of discussion by every talking head on cable and network television news.  Instead, I believe that if the media told the truth, vetted political candidates at every level fairly and honestly, that we could indeed have a utopia of sorts because everything would be the truth!  Unfortunately, for the people of this country, government lies to us at every level, the news media helps them to do so if they are on one side as opposed to the other, and even when the nation is crashing and burning, they keep promoting the same lies, intolerance, and bullcrap just like Nero did while Rome burned!
The Bakersfield Californian
I therefore ask the news media, WHY are you liars, charlatans, and deceivers?  Why are you like the Wizard of Oz, working magic tricks from behind a black screen, why do you use magic on us instead of telling us the truth, when our nation might very well be at stake?   The sad thing is that most of the population of this nation knows that what goes on is not right, that if not stopped and stopped soon, it might very well cast our nation onto history’s scrapheap.  While I used to believe that common sense and sense of duty to one’s nation and to one’s fellows would force them to stop lying to the American people at some point, I now no longer believe that at all and suspect to be dead before anything coming close to that happens.  Please, I beg you, stop spreading the lies, deceit, and insulting ignorance that you do, expose those who seek to harm our nation rather than covering their acts up and promoting them for higher and higher offices.  Never has our nation been in such a desperate time as it now finds itself and yet, almost none of you step up the plate, decry the propaganda, and say, STOP!
President Barack Obama—Chief Wizard of the United States!

CLASSIC BLOGPOST OF THE DAY FROM THE ‘ORIGINAL’ ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY:
The post I have chosen for today is one dealing with then Proposition 8 in California and how it was the right thing to do at the time; unfortunately, we now know that the president and his entire administration “evolved” knowing that if they embraced Gay America at the expense of ‘moral America,’ that they might bring in a whole lot more money in political donations!  Nobody ever said that the Gays do not have money, they seem to have a great deal and I guess that is why they are taking over the world as quickly as they are.  A lot of disreputable politicians (aren’t ALL politicians disreputable?) do not care where their next donation comes from let alone the morality connected with it.   I think that if they Gays gave them larger and larger donations, they would not care if they also wanted to recruit kindergartners to join them in their sexual escapades, such is life, my friends, when you are a politician.  After all, Will Farrell’s latest movie, “The Campaign,” certainly did not make him or his ilk seem to be very honorable did it?  I think most Americans have lost respect for their political leaders and why they shouldn’t, they seem like nothing but a bunch of smucks with credibility issues!

"Let's Catch our Breath on the Gay Marriage Issue in California"

Bakersfield, CA, 05-03-2009—Let’s talk about Gay marriage since that seems to be a hot topic in California lately and across the nation what with the great state of Iowa being the latest state to allow gays and lesbians to marry.  I don't personally have a problem with it but there are problems that people overlook.  One of them is that instead of trying to force it down the throats of people who don't or can't deal with it, why not just go about it in a nonthreatening way.  As for myself, I have been on both sides of the fence and what I say is this:  just get it on the ballot and use a different name other than marriage.  I don't understand what is wrong with the word, "civil unions," myself, but OK, you feel that your rights are violated if you can't have it so.  Look, no matter what you do, you will never get the majority to sanction it if the majority of a state is of conservative or religious backgrounds.  It says in both the Old Testament and New that there are prohibitions against homosexuality.  We know that the Koran says even worse things about gays and the Iranian president, the little runt, claims, "they don't know that phenomena here" which is a euphemism for killing gays.  Sure, they don't know it because they kill them, the Prophet Muhammad was very specific about it, 4:15, 16 by stating that "give them a chance to repent but..."
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran
We can't use the Muslims as our example, gracious people though they are, because no matter what our President, Mr. Obama says, this is a Christian nation (editor’s note: what does he say now in 2013?).  Nevertheless, the Christians aren't murdering anyone that I know and although it is tragic that a horrific act like the murder of Matthew Sheppard a few years ago in Wyoming ever happened, it isn't par for the course.  However, why is there this need to shove it down the throats of the general populace and why is it so vitriolic and hateful?  Why can't you just accept for now the fact that you have equal rights, just not use of the word "marriage?"  What got the majority of Californians angry is the fact that it was voted down once before but the courts said, "We’re overruling this" and legislated from the bench.  It is neither the high courts nor any lower court's right to legislate from the bench.  The legislature legislates and the judiciary interprets and passes sentence on the cases brought before it.  However, when it was stuck back on, against the wishes of the majority of Californians, they felt the only way to make it stick is if they got Proposition 8 enacted and made it a part of the state's constitution!  It passed and then look, look at all of the protests and violence in the streets!  Is that what the people do when they lose something? Is it?  The crowds even took a cross away from a woman counter-protester in San Diego away from her and stomped on it on national TV!  Was that the right thing to do, my friends?  No! It was very foolish because those images are emblazoned in the minds of the religious conservatives now and never will it get passed (except by the courts or the governor!)
President Barack Obama—a Man who has ‘evolved…’
The gay and lesbian activists and their allies thought that with the outflow of support for Mr. Obama, it was a sure thing but it wasn't and why not?  Well, the majority of the black people of America and the Latinos are all religious people and neither of them shared the view that it was a legitimate case for civil rights.  I cannot remember who said this, but one African-American spokesperson made the statement that "being born black is not a choice whereas being gay is."  OK, maybe that was a little bit overbearing, maybe there are many who are born gay and others decide for whatever reason they want to be gay but it shouldn't matter, I understand that.  However, many see homosexuality as a "choice" because the illusive "gay gene" has never been discovered; yes, at different times they thought they had found a common denominator but so far, to my knowledge, it has still eluded researchers.
The Rainbow Flag
History tells us that in ancient times, primarily Greek and Asia Minor cultures viewed homosexuality as a normal lifestyle and many men maintained both wives and male lovers.  For the Greeks, it was accepted that an older man would take a younger one on under his wing and help him develop and have relations with him and he in turn would do the same.  There were also many heterosexual relationships but both were OK.  When the Romans came into existence and began to dominate the known world, it was considered a sin but not a deadly one; however, it could mean the end of political careers and having to move to Athens or somewhere else in the eastern empire where it could be practiced and accepted.  As the Romans spread outward, they settled more and more of their military veterans in the east because the lands had become sparsely populated because of the predominance of homosexuality.  Late in the empire, as Rome began to resemble the east more and more, homosexuality gained a major foothold and some historians have concluded that the decadence of the people left them open and weak and eventually, they collapsed under the weight of nonstop barbarian incursions.
Gay Symbolism
If I had my way, it wouldn't be an issue now because I would do my best to make it legal for gays to marry.  What I would like to see is some acceptance at the same time by the homosexual activists, i.e., stop demanding that it be taught as an "acceptable alternative lifestyle" in grammar schools because it is not, and stop acting like thugs and terrorizing churchgoers with threats and despicable behavior.  We don't need a "gay holiday" nor do people have to provide nonessential services to gays and lesbians like photographing weddings or having to hire openly gay people to work in a mom-and-pop store.  As long as gay and lesbian couples are treated like normal people in restaurants, hospitals, medical facilities, and housing, that should be enough.  As long as you are not discriminated against in government jobs and in non-religious businesses, quit whining and grow up.  However, why do you want to be in the military?  Do you think that you can be openly gay and you won't be treated differently by the straight soldiers?  Why would one want to put oneself through that pain and misery?  Do you think that sailors or submariners would not feel threatened and wouldn't do something about it?  I mean, if I'm white, why would I want to walk down Martin Luther King Blvd. in Bakersfield, CA or if I'm black, walk down Robert's Lane in Oildale, CA.  I mean, we should because equals should be able to do what the next man or woman should but if you know or I know one of us might get killed, why should we chance it?
Gay California—the New Sodom and Gomorrah
What I would like to see is for everyone to try and set aside the craziness that has come to grip our state and nation as a whole.  Things take time and not long ago, you couldn't even have a civil union so you were denied the same benefits as straights and that was wrong but now you can.  It will work out but don't you see, that in opening the door to one "change" don't the doors have to be opened to threesomes, and any and all combination under the sun?  Where does it start and where does it end?  Please, I would like to discuss it but don't come yelling or screaming at me because as I've said, I have been on both sides of the line and feel familiarity with both sexes but I don't want to go shove it down the throat of my 80 year old mother, what kind of son would I be if I did?  All I am asking is that everyone steps back, let's talk about it and figure out how we can get it done without making the majority of the good folks of this country up in arms against those of us who think it would be OK?
Thank you!

END Commentary of the Day for Sunday, May 3, 2009 by V. Gdansk

Canned Heat

CANNED HEAT
CANNED HEAT were one of the great blues-boogie bands to burst out of Los Angeles, California, in the mid-1960’s and featured a great lineup of musicians such as Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson (guitar, slide guitar, harp, & vocals), Bob “the Bear” Hite (vocals and harp), and Henry “Sunflower” Vestine (lead guitar and vocals).  Added to that was Larry “the Mole” Taylor on bass and Fito de la Parra on the drums.  In addition to a hardcore attack on the blues and boogie numbers, they also squeezed in some psychedelic sounds and their greatest moment was performing live at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival at Yasgur’s Farm in Upstate New York.

I. Monday, 06-05-2011: “Canned Heat”:  the band’s first album came out in 1967 and set Canned Heat on the road to major albeit short-lived major success.  The fact that the band still exists, however, says a great deal about the resilience of drummer Fito de la Parra, as he continues performing with various lineups to this day.  This was a great debut album, one everyone enjoyed and one I highly recommend to all of you!

II.             Tuesday, 06-06-2011: “Boogie with Canned Heat”:  the band’s sophomore effort came out in 1968 and was an even better addition to their discography as it featured the massive hit, “On the Road Again” with Alan Wilson playing the sitar.  This song still appears on radio stations till today and that is the sign of lasting impact.  Therefore, I urge each of you to go to the blog of the preceding day (remember: we post at 11:59 p.m. every night!) and pick it up; you will be glad you did!

III.         Wednesday: 06-07-2011:”Living the Blues:” the band’s third album came out later in 1968 and featured their second hit, “Going up the Country,” the one heard on the original Woodstock album.  The music is great, the individual musical performances searing, and the liner notes the beginning of the Green movement, something I say Canned Heat started!

IV.          Thursday: 06-08-2011: “Hallelujah:” the band’s fourth album is a decent one but sort of a letdown when compared with the others.  This one came out in 1969 and quickly ended up in the bargain bins at record stores.  However, like everything else, there are good moments and bad moments and this one is way better than perceived.

V.             Friday: 06-09-2011: “Future Blues:” this 1970 release might be the best album ever delivered by Canned Heat as it kicks ass from start to finish.  The smoking “Let’s Work Together,” I believe written by Wilfred Harris (I could be wrong) is a smoking, rocking ball-busting number that is worth the price of admission alone.  Henry Vestine had taken a temporary leave of absence and fill-in, Harvey Mandel practically blows the doors and windows off the studio.  EVERYONE needs to own this album, of that, have absolutely NO doubt!
Budweiser Light Beer—a Gentleman’s Brew
I enjoy working on Saturday and Sunday as around here, we typically do nothing more than sit around cooking up various concoctions and drinking beer.  Currently, we are enjoying Budweiser Light, a grand brew of sorts and cheap at best.  I remember long ago when we used to have a beer collection containing full bottles and cans of every beer we ever drank until one day, the entire outside warehouse caught fire, burned down, and made the entire Oildale area smell like beer for weeks.   We had all sorts of beers in that collection too ranging from Billy Beer to virtually every low life beer available like Brew 102, Miller Malt Liquor, Schlitz, Hamms, Olympia, and Fischer Beer.  I ask you, where are they now? Oh, well, nothing wrong with being inebriated in the Obama America in which, we presently find ourselves.  Such is life!

LIVE AT THE FILLMORE WEST 1969
Just so you know, our heat wave continues into the end of the month of July and will continue into August.  At some point, when the board of directors returns from the British Virgin Islands, I hope they have solved our conundrum and that we will move someplace tropical but I do hope free of snakes.  Snakes give me the fricking creeps and that is one thing about residing here in Kern County, if you go into the wilder areas, even if they are close to residential areas, there are snakes roaming around the area.  I have seen some mean-looking rattlers roaming off of China Grade Loop, which is not too far outside the city, it would suck to be fishing down along the Kern River and get bit by a snake.  I hope my insurance is paid up and that if I die, that Stinkbug will take care of my widow, Lucinda.  I will see you all tomorrow.  I think after next week, Bea O’Malley is going to come in and when she does, she is going to clean my proverbial clock!
HEAVY
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Country Joe and the Fish, the Jefferson Airplane or Little Feat, and/or buy a cookbook from Amazon.com—we want to make some money here so help us out by buying something!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!
