974TH BLOGPOST AT THE AICP-END!
Trayvon Martin—the Dead Youth
Bakersfield, CA, 07-22-2013 Monday: Friends, here we are, nine days after the verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman first appeared but please note that we write approximately one week ahead so there is NEVER a gap in when you have the opportunity to read the news here at the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day! This is the place where we do our best to make the complex, simple, all for your erudition!   Back on the 11th of this month, I said that if Mr. Zimmerman were found guilty, that theoretically speaking that had he been proven guilty of murdering Trayvon Martin for the hell of it, then his father should be the one to put the needle into the man’s arm and send him off to hell.  However, we know that he was never in danger of receiving a death sentence but that he might have spent the better part of a quarter-century in prison.  The fact that he was found NOT guilty is amazing to most of us but it all comes down to how you view the incident that led up to his death.
George Zimmerman—NOT Guilty!
My feeling on this is that the incident consisted of TWO parts, something that most people never have brought up or discussed due to their burning desire to send this man to prison and deny him a fair trial.  The first event is the one in which, Mr. Zimmerman saw a man in a hoodie sweatshirt walking around, mumbling to himself, peering into the windows of parked cars and trying their door handles.  Mr. Zimmerman called the Sanford, Florida, policed department and reported what he saw: the above aforementioned actions.  When he called the police hotline, he explained what he saw and NOT UNTIL THE DISPATCHER ASKED HIM WHAT COLOR THE PERSON WAS, DID MR. ZIMMERMAN DESCRIBE HIM AS BLACK!  Yet, we all heard the initial sound tape played on cable-and-network news channels 24/7 around the world.  The first words uttered by Mr. Zimmerman were that the individual was ‘black’ and that ‘they always get away with it.’ Like you, I thought we had an open and shut case of someone acting like Charles Bronson in the Death Wish movies who was a racist to boot.  Then when they showed the photo of the man Zimmerman killed, he looked no more than a child!  MR. ZIMMERMAN DESERVED TO GO TO PRISON AND THEN TO BURN IN HELL FOR HUNTING DOWN THIS ‘INNOCENT BLACK YOUTH WHO BOUGHT A BAG OF SKITTLES AND AN ICED TEA! Unfortunately, as we came to learn, that was NOT the case!
The Photo of the Beat-up George Zimmerman
As we know, the police dispatcher told Mr. Zimmerman not to follow the boy and we have his word that he stopped his car and got out to check the street sign and address of his location.  We also have his phone conversation with the first witness on the stand, his ‘girlfriend’ who said that he was going to go back to get this ‘creepy white cracker pursuing him.’  So, at what point does everything change?  We have one group who says that because Mr. Zimmerman did not obey the dispatcher’s instruction not to follow the suspect, that that was enough for the jury to find him guilty of manslaughter.  Then, on the other hand, there are those who feel that everything changed when Trayvon went back after this man—and used racist euphemisms to describe his ‘pursuer’ that when he jumped out of the bushes and socked Zimmerman in the nose and broke it, that it justified Mr. Zimmerman’s use of his firearm.   What truly happened, we do not know nor will we ever but on the other hand, we have enough information as to who was the aggressor and who was the racist.  The thing is that in today’s PC world, minorities can NEVER be racists whereas only whites can.  The problem in all of this is that Mr. Zimmerman—in present American racial views is that Zimmerman is NOT white; he is only half-white, which in America means he is NOT white but a Hispanic.  Yet, what did every news media talking head, pundit, or smuck tell us: he was WHITE and then relented and called him a “white-Hispanic.”  What a load of crap, we see Mr. Obama—our forty-fourth president—as a black even though he had a white mother so that makes Mr. Zimmerman a Hispanic who is not as dark as some but darker than many white people.  As Chef Stinkbug says, “It is what it is!”
Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder
As of the time of this writing, we heard that even while Mr. Obama stepped out of the picture that his Justice Department might go after Mr. Zimmerman and charge him with a violating the Civil Rights of Trayvon Martin.  Look, in the beginning, Trayvon’s mother said, ‘all she wanted was an arrest and for a jury to decide the case.’  Well, that is what they got, they had tons of help from the Justice Department as this governmental body changed everything from the police chief to helping arrange protests against the defendant.  Eric Holder has done everything he could to make sure that once again, the Far Left Liberals got their way and overrode a trial court process even going so far as to offer several other alternatives when it came to sentencing to make sure he got punished.  However,  I believe that not only that but virtually every witness for the prosecution made more of a case in favor of Zimmerman than it did for Trayvon as they knew that the Justice Department demanded they get a conviction.  In the end, I believe that the jurors reacted as they did in the Casey Anthony case, that the prosecution overstretched its bounds and they were not going to convict her on circumstantial evidence.   We will discuss more of this case as we proceed over the course of this week but for now, let us go to our older blogposts from the original Elemental News of the Day at Choseit.com!
CLASSIC BLOGPOST OF THE DAY FROM THE ‘ORIGINAL’ ELEMENTAL NEWS OF THE DAY:
The blog I have chose for you today is one written by someone who does not write for this blog anymore but remains our good friend, Alvin Clemens Jefferson.  He still works for the blog however as he is the man who runs the back office, takes the phone calls, makes lunch, gets the beer we drink on any given day, and also serves as our bodyguard.  Over the course of the original blog, we had not only him but also his father and grandfather who occasionally wrote blogs for us so please, let us pay attention to what he says here as it fits in with what is happening in today’s world in the case of Trayvon Martin’s murder.

The Black Man’s Experience in the United States and why it’s Important to Give President Obama a Chance!
Alvin wanted to say that in order to understand the black man in America and why it's important to give President Barack Obama a chance before lynching him, it's important to understand what the black man has gone through in this country.  From being bought and sold as slaves to fighting in all of the wars and being discriminated at home, it has been a long hard slog for American blacks. It is one that began on the slave blocks in New Orleans and other ports of entry and continued in the cotton and rice fields of the American South.  Imprisoned for things the white man gets away with and then blamed for everything that goes wrong in this country, it is important for everyone to understand the score in order to understand black animus.  I said, "I'd be happy to print a paper he wrote not long ago because I feel it has a great deal of major import and anyone who wants to understand the "real America," it's important to begin with the Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison.
President Barack Obama
I think it easy to consider Ralph Ellison's novel, Invisible Man, as an autobiographical novel of the events that he experienced in his life. However, I cannot make that assumption at this point in the story until I have completed the book. Certainly, it is a heart-wrenching story about how blacks survived and were treated in both the south and the north in the post-Reconstruction era ergo Jim Crow apartheid of the new America. What did our country do? How is it that a nation as grand and preeminent on the world stage can be so blind to the pitfalls that segregation has caused? Oh, I know, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Well, if you kick that stubborn old mule of a horse in the ass enough times, I'm sure he'll do whatever you want him to do! When the radical Republicans steered the ship of state after the cowardly and fatal shooting of one of America's greatest presidents, why could they not then get the one vote necessary to impeach President Andrew Johnson and return to the ways so carefully laid out for us as a nation?
Yes, The Birth of a Nation, I know, but America did not have to follow the party line and propaganda that it so easily imparted to us as citizens of the GREATEST NATION ON EARTH! No, we were forsaken in the wilderness, left to wander 40 and then 60 and then one hundred years to 1965 before we as a nation attempted to right our insurmountable wrongs. The idea that we would allow apartheid to exist within our Jim Crow segregated society is ridiculous. How is it that one can so easily extend a hand and then scald the other when it reaches out as well? Segregation and Ralph Ellison, the Narrator in the book, Invisible Man, was tragically hurt by it. It did not matter whether he faced it in the south in one guise or in the north in another, more insidious form. Just as in Richard Wright's novel, Native Son, no matter what Ellison aspires to, he's knocked back down many times and on some occasions it's by members of his own race, men like Lucius Brockway in Chapter 10.
Ellison was young and impressionable as all young men generally are. He had ideals, dreams, and desires that only he could share with us. He knew the score but as a young man, he thought that he could survive inside the belly of the beast and if not able to turn it" inside-out", well, then possibly he might hold on to its tail and ride it to eventual prosperity. A segregated prosperity, but prosperity nonetheless! Already he had shown promise-promises enough to be sent to Tuskegee provided that he maintains the status quo and not push for "equality."
The honor of being sent to Tuskegee Institute was honor in and of itself. Ellison, however, did not earn it outright; rather, he had to convince a bunch of drunken white (superiors) men to send him. He first had to have his brains pummeled out in the Battle Royale. 'Nothing ain't without a price in this world, boy!' Chapter Five is indeed a very personal look at the mentality of the black man in the post-Reconstruction south. Ellison learned an extremely hard lesson and that was what Dr. Bledsoe had expected him already to know. However, being a "dunce," so-to-speak, cost him whatever chance, or hopes he had to achieve a collegiate education (not that it would have done much for him anyway).
Ellison had been put in charge of driving one of the rich, white, philanthropists around the university and its immediate environs. Yet, that was not enough for Mr. Norton; he wanted to see still more. Against the author's better judgment [1], he took Mr. Norton into an area off the beaten path into an area with a dubious history that had once housed slaves and was now inhabited by blacks surviving at the subsistence level. There, the white man had an interview with Jim Trueblood, a sharecropper who has committed a cardinal sin by having slept with his daughter and impregnated her. Although it was a terrible misfortune that occurred when the family was huddled together for warmth and in his sleep, he committed the terrible act that had him both ostracized and isolated by the surrounding community.
Norton is fascinated with the story but is also repelled. Being a true philanthropist, he "gifts" Trueblood with a hundred-dollar bill. He then becomes faint and in need of a "drop of whiskey," with which to bolster his sagging fortitude. This causes Ellison to commit his second and least forgivable sin: he takes the faint Mr. Norton into the Golden Day, a bar and whorehouse that serves more as an insane asylum for African-American vets. There, Norton has his view of the world of the American Negro confirmed and other parts of it turned upside down. Norton is a "racist" but tries to cover it by giving money to black institutions charged with the betterment and development of the "people of color." Nevertheless, in the Golden Day, he witnesses scenes of drunkenness and debauchery, prostitutes in action and who are interested in him because he is a "white man." Furthermore, he witnesses a scene of terrific violence, that being the cruel beating of the white man known as "Supercargo," who is the attendant of the sordid vets.
True, Norton appears not to be cognizant of it enough. Nevertheless, when he ends up in a whore's bed and is being treated by a black vet who might have been very close to becoming a doctor, "the Vet," answers Norton's questions with the veracity of one who has had the shackles lifted from off his tongue. Consequently, Norton opens himself up for a look in the mirror for which he was un-prepared. The Vet is depicted, as one who is possibly insane which might very well be true; moreover, it is many times the madman in literature who imparts the greatest truth. This is a common theme in the works of Shakespeare. The philanthropist has a rude awakening to a world he has truly never wanted to see-the perfidy of his own people who treat the blacks with less than "loving care." Like children, the blacks are best seen (if necessary) and not heard;" the financial aid that the wealthy whites expend on the blacks is to buy their own place in heaven, not the African-American.
The events of Chapter Three are much like the surrealism of "Dante's Inferno." The pages between 92 and 95 are very telling-the black vet relates to Mr. Norton that, "he was trained to be a physician and more likely a surgeon and while serving in the military overseas in World War I, he was allowed to practice his trade. Still and all, upon returning home, he was faced with blatant racism as having saved some man's life, the only thanks he got was being bundled up by unknown assailants and removed to the edge of town. There, he was beaten within an inch of his life and left to suffer."[2] On page 94, the Vet makes a poignant comment to Mr. Norton, which he seems incapable of assimilating:
"You see," [the Vet,] said turning to Mr. Norton, "he has eyes and ears [regarding Ellison] and a good distended African nose, but he fails to understand the simple facts of life. Understand. Understand? It's worse than that; he registers with his senses but short-circuits his brain. Nothing has meaning. He takes it in but doesn't digest it. Already he is-well, blesses my soul! Behold! A walking zombie! Already he's learned to repress not only his emotions but also his humanity. He's invisible, a walking personification of the Negative, the most perfect achievement of your dreams, sir! The mechanical man!" [3] [i]
What the Vet was explaining to Mr. Norton were the facts of life that every black faced. Unfortunately for the wealthy white man, this was the last thing for which he wished to confront, as it was an anathema to everything that his "ostrich head" had lifelong tried to avoid-he didn't give a damn about blacks! All that he had been trying to do was to assuage his guilt for being a wealthy Caucasian, to try and "buy his place in heaven," that was why he wanted Ellison to foretell his "fate." In other words, he wanted to know to know if he could stop feeling guilty for having succeeded by stepping upon the backs of those beneath him.
In the lecture of the Fourth, we discussed the concept of "Social Darwinism," how it was the prevalent "talking points" of its time. The enormity of the white-led military-industrial burden of the time was where to dispense and disperse the monstrous amount of accumulated assets. It was not just the spreading out of money, the wealthy men of the Nineteenth and Twentieth century’s understood The Doctrine of Wealth, which encouraged those having enormous capital, had the obligation to transform a certain portion of it into "good works." It's as if the lessons that Martin Luther espoused in the Sixteenth Century had not carried over- no matter how much money you're willing to spend in order to get to Elysium, [4] it will still not buy one a ticket to paradise as in Luther's Doctrine, the ticket to the afterlife was based upon faith and faith alone.
The truth was too much for Mr. Norton to hear. In a short amount of time, every sense, which he possessed, had been violated. He had been given a true view of what the life of the real Negro was-bedlam, violence, loose women, and tumult-a veritable mad house runs by the inmates. In a few short hours, his rose-colored vision of the world had been shattered. For what was the money he poured into the University? To build and maintain a sham, a fake, a counterfeit? He managed to pull himself together and to forgive Ellison but for our troubled narrator, that was fine but Mr. Norton was not his real fear-that distinction was reserved for Dr. Bledsoe.
Dr. Bledsoe was a man, who in the novel was the number two man to Booker T. Washington. Nevertheless, he was instilled with a far different reality-while Washington had gone from slave to free man to philosopher-the philosophy of Bledsoe was rooted in the bedrock while that of Washington was carried aloft. Bledsoe is a pragmatist in this story and for him when the white man is around is a sort of "step-and-fetchit," a big white washed canvass. He shows the wealthy industrialists what he wants them to see just so they keep on donating their large sums of greenbacks. The good Doctor Bledsoe has been playing the game for much too long, he knows all the in's and out's of the game.
Therefore, it is understandable why he is upset with Ellison. In the space of an afternoon, Norton has seen the truth-not the tree-lined avenues and staid buildings of the campus but the feces that underlies the entire system. Bledsoe then is angry because he faces the potential loss of a major donor. In his dressing-down of Ellison, he says:
"Then haven't we bowed and scraped and begged and laid enough decent homes and drives for you to show him? Did you think that white man had come a thousand miles-all the way from New York and Boston and Philadelphia just for you to show him a slum? Don't just stand there, say something!"[ii]
Ellison stammers and stutters when Bledsoe lets the real cat out of the bag:
"Ordered you?" he said [in reference to Ellison driving Norton where he wanted to go]. He ordered you? Dammit, white folk are always giving orders; it's a habit with them. Why didn't you make an excuse? Couldn't you say they had sickness-smallpox-or picked another cabin? Why that Trueblood Shack? My God, boy! You're black and living in the South-did you forget how to lie?"[iii]
Ellison who has reached the level of a junior is a blithering idiot as Bledsoe continues to tear him apart. In his philosophy, the only thing that you tell a white man is a lie. All a white man is good for is for finances. In addition, to hurt our Narrator even worse and thereby defining his place is to call him "nigger."[5] Bledsoe has usurped the status of a white man and now is the undisputed boss-Ellison is shocked and when he gets expelled, he's upset because Bledsoe had given his word to Norton that he would not get rid of him-so he has in fact demonstrated his policy-lie to white men.
Dr. Bledsoe says to Ellison:
"Listen to me, boy," he said loudly. "Norton is one man and I'm another, and while he might think he's satisfied, I know that he isn't! Your poor judgment has caused this school incalculable damage. Instead of uplifting the race, you've torn it down."[iv]
That's it in a nutshell-Ellison's stupidity has caused a white man with money to pause possibly and to question the reality. Bledsoe took the dream from the Founder's aims, dreams, and desires that he held dear for the black race and translated those dreams and hopes into concrete gray reality. There's big business in perpetuating that dream-black segregation, working separately from the race of the Caucasian but for the same goals. An America of two parts-the one side endowed with the wealth, capital, and vision while the black race learns to do the blue-collar jobs-the trades necessary to keep the machinery of wealth and power pulsing ahead.
So what if the black man has to defer to the white man? An existence free from torment, of the pogroms that the white man so effortlessly dispenses when angered at the temerity of the Negroes-The Phoenix Riot-The Wilmington Riot-The New Orleans Riot-so effortlessly, so efficiently. It's better to bow and scrape and to doff one's hat in order to live and it is these aims and goals that Dr. Bledsoe manipulates to his advantage. It really is no different from the Jews in the ghettoes of the Nazis in the major cities across eastern Europe-most notably Poland and in Russia, and to some extent in the concentration camps themselves.  Many Jewish leaders bowed and scraped and doffed their hats to the Nazis and their allies in order that they, too, be allowed to exist segregated from the rest of humanity.
Therefore, the ideas espoused by Booker T. Washington were truly a sham. It is understandable at the time that segregation, showing respect to the white man, and working separately towards the same goals had only become manure spread over an un-weeded flowerbed. When the weeds start pushing up with vigor and crowding the bulbs and annuals out of the way, the problem will have become too far gone- and the weeds too invigorated-to be ignored and will have to be yanked-out by blunt force. Had radical black leaders had their way, it's very possible that the opposing forces of segregation at any cost could have catapulted the United States into a race war. Certainly, almost every optimistic dream and hope had been dashed to pieces, which would have provided ample fuel.
In conclusion, at this point we're in the paint factory of Chapters 10 & 11 and for me, it's a sense of déjà vu having read Richard Wright's Native Son. In fact, it almost has the same tone of another of Wright's works, "The Man Who Was Almost a Man." There's an element of darkness here (no pun intended) that makes me believe that the ending will not be a good one. In fact, the question that I ask of me at this point is, "how can it be?"
 Thank you!

Martin Luther railed about this in his Ninety-Five Theses, which saw publication in 1518.

The Jefferson Starship
That is it for the cartoons for one day, let’s jump to the musical selections we advertise here on a daily basis and have since the very first day the blog opened its doors!   I have chosen to present the Jefferson Starship, as among my personal favorites and here is the eighth set of FIVE albums:

XXXI.  Tuesday, 05-10-2011: “Nuclear Furniture”:  this 1983 release is one of my favorite ones and it is the last album to feature Paul Kantner as he left due to changing politics within the band.  Still, it generated some major hits and most of the rest of the music including a wonderful song entitled, “Magician,” are really great and well-worth owning.  Please visit the blogpost of the preceding day as we post every night of the week at 11:59 P.M.

XXXII.          Wednesday, 05-11-2011: “Knee-Deep in the Hoopla”:  this CD came out in 1985 and exploded onto the scene with the massive hit, “We Built this City (on Rock and Roll),” which soared to the top of the charts and remained there.  When you look at the history of the Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship, this album ranks among the best of the best, right up there with “Red Octopus.”  This is a must-own even though the band was in a process of morphing once again.

XXXIII.Thursday, 05-12-2011: “No Protection”: as with the previous album, this marked the transformation into the “Starship” without the “Jefferson” in front of it anymore.  This CD came out in 1987 and showed that the band was still knocking them out of the ballpark and is yet another example of must-own music.  I urge you to go out and pick it up, you will be glad you did!

XXXIV.        Friday, 05-13-2011: “Love among the Cannibals”:  this Starship CD came out in 1989 and moved the band into the new decade.  However, it did not generate the same amount of enthusiasm as did the last two but still did well enough to garner gold status.

XXXV.           Saturday, 05-14-2011: “At their Best”:  this best of compilation came out in 1993 and showed the band still working hard out on the road and this album had all of the hits from start-to-finish.  Never before have we had a band that went through three changes with different musicians and yet were still tied to the same historic source.  If you want to keep up with all of this awesome music that originated in the mid-1960’s and ongoing into the 2000’s.  What an awesome legacy!
Attorney General Eric Holder
I must say that it did not take long for our esteemed attorney-general, Eric Holder, to come out and tell a black women’s group that his department was launching an investigation into the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case.  You see, the left gets approximately 99-percent of what it wants and when it does NOT, then it freaks out and go nuts.  Even though the innocent verdict came out late Saturday night, by Sunday of last week, rioters were ransacking cities screaming, “NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!”  If it was up to me, I would come out and crack down on these thuggish punks and send them all to prison.  I would not be like our beloved chief executive, come out and wash his hands of what was to come and then leave it up to my minions to pervert justice in any way they can.  I ask you, is this the world in which, you wish to live?  How would you feel if your son or daughter had been in a similar situation, been found not guilty, and then have the government go after him or her anyway?  I am sorry, our nation is rapidly approaching one of being a police state and all I can say is that these horrible people want to punish for what happened prior to the Civil War and before.  I would agree if you could find anyone still alive who owned slaves but sadly, you cannot! STOP THE INSANITY!

CJ FISH
Boy, oh, boy, we are getting close to ending our time with Country Joe and the Fish, which means that as soon as we conclude with them, we are going to explode into the greatest of the Los Angeles acid bands, Iron Butterfly!  Did you know that the Butterfly had an opportunity to appear at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 but demanded so much superstar treatment that the promoters told them to go “take a hike.”  Can you imagine how awesome it would have been for them to have appeared there, catapulting their soon-to-fizzle career into forever superstar status?  I could go on and on about how awesome it would have been to have heard a 60-minute version of “In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida” on the Woodstock album, man, they truly screwed up!  Anyhow, I think that by Friday, we will move into the Iron Butterfly’s section so you definitely want to be here for that!  I will see each and every one of you tomorrow (or more honestly, at 11:59 P.M. tonight!)
LIFE AND TIMES OF COUNTRY JOE AND THE FISH
Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower. What's more, why not spend some money and purchase an album by Country Joe and the Fish, the Jefferson Airplane or Little Feat, and/or buy a cookbook from Amazon.com—we want to make some money here so help us out by buying something!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise!  Amazon.com is one of the greatest—if not the ultimate greatest!—online department stores in which, one can find almost everything on the planet.  We love them and they love us and we want all of you to visit them daily, take advantage of their deals on everything from kitchen equipment to cookbooks, CDs, DVDs, and everything else a person could want.  Everything you buy from them puts money into our pockets, which allows us to keep this fine blog up-and-running 24/7/365!  God bless America and God bless Amazon.com!
Thank you!
