IN MEMORIAM OF ALVIN LEE

03-06-2013 W: The Elemental News of the Day—Culinary Politics would like to express sadness over the recent passing of Alvin Lee, noted guitarist and vocalist of the great British Second Invasion band, Ten Years After!  Mr. Lee died today at age 68 due to complications from a surgical procedure.  We love Alvin and Ten Years After, who by-the-way, continue performing with new guitarist Joe Gooch.
Ten Years After were part of the Second British Invasion, coming to the shores of the United States with bands like the Moody Blues, Savoy Brown, and others.  Ten Years After rose to major stardom on the concert stages of America but exploded to worldwide superstardom with their appearance at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival of 1969.  Sadly, only a part of that appearance survives today in both the Woodstock movie and on the first Woodstock album in which, Mr. Lee and the band are captured live doing their rousing show-stopper, “I’m Going Home!”
The band released many fine albums, all of which are advertised here at the American Institute of Culinary Politics-Elemental News of the Day so do your best searching for the links to Amazon.com located among our blogposts.  Having had the opportunity to have seen the band on numerous occasions, all we can say is that they were and still are among the epitome of what being a “rock band” and “rock stars” is all about.  Many of our current crop of young musicians could learn something listening to the albums of Ten Years After, they will exist forever in our musical memories!
