EDUCATIONAL WRITINGS-DISCOURSE, PART XLVII

Educational Writings-Discourse, Part XLVII: the Life and Times of Beverly Carrick—World-Famous Artist, Part Twenty-Six—the Photographic Evidence!” by Moses Scharbug III

Bakersfield, CA, 01-16-2013 W:  Hello, friends, how are you doing this fine morning, the stroke of midnight and all, as you know, we post every night at 11:59 P.M. so we can beat everyone else to the new day!  How are you doing with the diminishing size of your paychecks, friends, here, we are facing the same thing due to the rising taxes brought about by the Obamacare, the Affordable Healthcare Act?  I have to laugh when the low-information voters on the street send me cards and letters asking me, “Mr. Moses, why are our checks so small, I thought President Obama was only going to sock it to the rich?”  Oh, you poor ignorant fools, Mr. Obama is going to sock it to EVERYBODY including your parents, your relatives, your friends and neighbors.  Taxes went up on ALL of us that, my friends, are the beauty of it, no one is exempt.  Yes, they blame the Republicans saying that they alone are responsible because they fought against raising taxes on the rich.  Their reasoning is that once one move down the road of class warfare, there is never going to be a return unless, of course, the nation enters a revolutionary era in the nation’s politics.  Tell me this, my stupid, ordinary democratic voters, why should we punish ONE segment of the society when ALL of us bear responsibility for how things should and are going to go—we all bear equal shares of guilt.  Therefore, when Mr. Obama blames the Republicans, note that he is attempting to create a form of subterfuge, which he hopes will shield him from the ultimate blame.  Is this the America you want, remember: elections have consequences and now, we are beginning to see what they are.

I do hope that our next election in 2014 is going to be an honest one as to me; I believe 2012 was not due to the shenanigans of the far left.   When you have a voter turnout that dwarfs registered voters and NO one investigates the reason as to “why,” that means that yes, something did indeed happen.  The Republicans realized that if they challenged the results, they would not only be called bad losers, they would also be called racists, haters, and the such.  What the hell has the nation come to, friends, when we have a man ruling the nation by executive fiat, by being told what we are going to do rather than having our elected leaders debate it openly on the floors of the House and Senate?  Our nation is at a desperate crossroads and while I do not have to worry about it being as old as I am, my kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren have to.   I want what is best for the nation and its people and Mr. Obama should remember that one day when the Republicans do regain POWER, they can use the executive order to their deliriousness and pencil the Democrats out of existence.   I hope to God that one day, the Democrats are punished for the illegal crap they are pulling because this is NOT what the Founders intended, they did not intend for a dictator to rule us, they intended for the PEOPLE to rule the nation.

Okay, while I realize that I could indeed be arrested one of these days for speaking my mind, for now, I can give them the finger of an old man and tell them to kiss off; I have no fear of them.  Life is a circle and yes, sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down but one thing is for sure: it always come around.   I know that one day, a new Reagan-like figure will step onto the political stage and that the people will regain control of the government.  Mark my words, low-information, ignorant voters, your time is coming and coming soon and I do hope that I am still alive to see it!

We continue on today with more of the awesome photos from the Beverly Carrick photo album, something of which, I am sure all of us are enjoying on a daily basis.  Next week, Chef Itzi Nakamura is going to return to the blog with new recipes with which, to excite the culinary masses.  When this lengthy segment on the life and times of Beverly Carrick Snow is over, please remember to visit her website at beverlycarrick.com and buy some paintings before we lose total control of the inventory.   At some point, the executor of Beverly’s will is going to be forced to sell everything—paintings, giclees, prints, lithographs, cards, sketches, unnamed and unnumbered paintings, photos, and everything else related to Beverly’s career to a single broker.  This individual will become very powerful in the art world because the lot is going to sell for several million dollars allowing most of us to relocate to Hawaii.  The only thing we will retain forever in the Carrick Family in perpetuity is the RIGHTS to the images, the thing that is worth more than ALL of the paintings combined.   The images are going to be marketed for everything from new greeting cards, books, book covers, posters, and everything else the mind can conjure into being and believe you me, all of us are going to do very well, this is an exciting time to be both a family member and a member of this excellent five-star blog.

We now pick up with the next batch of Beverly Carrick photos; I do hope you find all of these as interesting as the ones published over the past few days.  Seldom does one have such a photographic journal of one’s life and that of their family members, too.  If you are ready, let us commence today’s photo essay:

BEVERLY CARRICK’S PHOTO ALBUM:

1.     This is a photo of Beverly Carrick and her husband, Harry, at a Mobil Oil picnic at Fort Tejon, south of Bakersfield, in the Tehachapi Mountains.  The “fort” was an old U.S. military installation during the late 1800’s and a hotel was there for many decades for weary travelers heading north or south up-or-down the Southern San Joaquin Valley.

2.     This is another photo of the Fort Tejon picnic somewhere around 1949 when Beverly and Harry were newlyweds.

3.     This is a photo of Beverly on her honeymoon to Pebble Beach, California, and other coastal sights in 1948.

4.     This is a photo of the Newport Beach house where Harry, Beverly, and their kids rented every summer for a period of about 10-12 years for their summer vacations.

5.     This is a photograph of Beverly Carrick with her youngest son, Brian, at her parents’ home in Oildale, California, in 1958.

6.     This is another photo of Beverly with both of her kids, Brian and Pat, at the home of her parents on Robert’s Lane in Oildale, California.

7.  This is a shot of Beverly’s father, Clarence Jamison, standing outside the family’s store next door to their home on Robert’s Lane in 1963.

8.     This is a photo of Harry Hall Carrick with his youngest son, Brian, in 1958.

9.     This is a photo of Beverly’s Grandmother, Bessa aka “Granny,” and of herself with her youngest son, Brian.

10.  This is a photo of New Year’s Eve in Taft, California, 1958, when the family was living at a Mobil Oil Company lease house, the first posting of Harry.

11.  This is a photo of Harry’s mother, Hallie, holding an infant, Patrick C. Carrick.

12.  This is a shot of Clarence and Eugene Jamison, father and son, out at their slot car track on the back of their property.  At the time, they had the greatest slot car track anywhere in the entire valley and people came from up and down the length of it to race their cars on the Riverview Hobby Shop’s famed track.

13.  This is a photo of Beverly’s first Christmas tree as a newlywed married to her first husband, Harry.  The location was Taft, California, forty miles to the west of Bakersfield at the Mobil Oil lease house.

14.  This is a photo of Patrick C. Carrick, sitting in Santa’s lap in 1962 in Whittier, California.

15.  This is a wonderful photo of Brian as a baby in 1958 outside the family’s Whittier, California, home.  This is such a cute photo, Brian reminds me of my cousin’s Iggy’s youngest son, Jehovah.  He married a non-Jewish woman who was quite blond hence the lightness of skin and hair.

16.  This is a shot of Beverly’s mother, Florence, across the street from the family/s store and poultry hatchery on Robert’s Lane in 1958.  Granny lived across the street from her daughter’s house with her husband, Ernest until he died and then Florence and her husband, Clarence, moved into Granny’s home to look after her.  This is Beverly’s mother, once again.

17.  This is a photo of Beverly’s brother, Eugene, with his firstborn son, Christopher, outside the family’s store.  This was around 1963-4.

18.  This is a photo of Bessa Taylor, Beverly Carrick’s, grandmother outside her home smiling.  She was a lighthearted woman, quite jovial, and good-natured.

19.  This is a publicity photo of Beverly Carrick in the 1960s.

20.  This is another shot of Beverly Carrick, for a publicity photo for her original agents, Violet and Maury.

21.  This is a photo of Beverly’s brother, Eugene and his new wife, Elaine, in the early 1960s.  Elaine is proficient in more than 12 languages and at the time hoped to get a job at the United Nations as an interpreter.  She came out to California at the urging of one friend because teaching positions were plentiful and so she left Gloster, Massachusetts to come to Bakersfield.  There, she met her future husband, Gene Jamison, and the rest is history.  She taught school and served as a vice principal and as a principal of a high school.

I think many of us have a difficult time imagining the true meaning of this ‘rags-to-riches’ story, you know, being the daughter of a low income family living in the Great Depression.  The fact that Beverly managed to survive the loss of her leg at age 12 is simply not something that would be any easier today.  Sure, medical science has come a long, long ways since 1940 but one must consider the farsightedness of her family doctor, Dr. Abbott, the man had great knowledge in telling the surgeons to strike for the hip rather than the knee as they proposed to do.   By amputating her leg where they did, they saved her life and the doctors at the UCLA Medical Center saved a brilliant child’s life.   I just hope that if I ever end up with some horrifying disease that my doctor is as skillful as was Dr. Abbott but with Obamacare, that is highly doubtful now.  If I need medical help, I will be heading to Costa Rica or to India and not visiting a hospital here in the states.  I am sorry—Mr. Obama has ruined one of the best medical systems in the world.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As always, we have a great time around here and that is why we want all of you to become a part of the organization by submitting articles to us for inspection and full-credit.  It is a great thing if you would do this, as it is a symbiotic relationship: we give you the space to share your recipes and in return, you send us more and more people who will become dedicated followers of the END.  Currently of multi-diversity across the Internet, it is important that we hear the voices of more and more people from all walks of the foodservice profession —join us. We urge our readership to write to us, leave comments, and if there are any of you, who would care to write an article for us, please get in touch via Magnolia Hilltop Brewers, P.O. Box 20669, Bakersfield, CA 93390-0669.  We obviously do not pay anything but give YOU full byline and that, my friends, is worth its weight in gold.  We want as many people who want to write to be able to do so and we believe that by presenting a forum for our fellow chefs, we are doing something for our beloved industry.  We love diversity and hope to add new and different authors to our pantheon of chefs, food and beverage directors, and culinary professionals.  Come on and join us, it will be fun! Expect that when all of us have run through our cycle, we will be introducing some brand-new talent or so Stinky says.

We have touted the AARC Technology Company here in Bakersfield, CA, and must add the Nerds on Call.com folks.  Without them keeping our blog up-and-running, there is no telling where we would be now.  We have a great many problematic issues here at the AICP-END because even with the best security systems in the world, malware and other terrible fecal materials manage to penetrate the blogsite.  Do yourself a favor, hire the best, and note, you can have online help via a remote button on your desktop for just $25 per month!  Get in contact with the Nerds now!

We will return tomorrow with some more excellent photographs and more insights into what is going on politically within the nation.  I hope that those of you who are beginning to wake up and smell the overflowing toilet realize that yes, you made a mistake in last year’s election but that there is still time to change things in 2014!  If I am still alive next year in November, you can bet I will be staffing phones in the Republican Party’s call centers getting out the vote.  If that does not bring success, the wife and I may be immigrating to Israel and getting the heck out of Dodge!  If we do not change things next November, there will never be another chance; there will be violence in the streets.  We cannot let this happen, friends, that is what we do here, we discuss the political issues related to the foodservice industry, something of which, all of us must be aware!

To buy paintings, recipes, or full article series, please send us your information by mailing us at 10001 Camino Media #20669, Bakersfield, CA, 93311-1310.  You can call about paintings at 661-834-5185; we will take all calls and provide to you as much information as is available.  It is time that we begin taking the next step and to immortalize Beverly Carrick for eternity and begin moving towards the establishment of a website of our own! God bless each single one of you amongst our fan base!

Anyhow, let us close with this impassioned plea—please leave some comments and/or become a follower and why not spend some money and purchase an album by MOUNTAIN or West, Bruce, and Laing and/or buy a cookbook from Amazon.com—we want to make some money here so help us out by buying something!  Allied with them, we are pleased to market their merchandise! When we finish advertising albums by Mountain and West, Bruce and Laing, we will begin presenting albums by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention!  See you next time around! Bye!

Thank you!
